The HW99s is one of the best rifles I own. Everything about it meets standards and for the price is a really good air rifle. I have a 177. and I can easily hit a small coin at 25-30 yards, it's incredibly accurate. The trigger system is also really good and being a Weihrauch makes it durable and reliable. I deffinatly recommend this gun to anyone starting to shoot air rifles as a hobby. Ticks all the boxes for me. :) (read more)

Had mine since June - birthday pressie from the wife and purchased after sound advice from Country Sporting Guns near Boston. It's .22 calibre and having zeroed it in on both iron sights and scope, I can regularly put eight of of ten pellets through the bull on a 20yard sport target with the other two shots in the 9 ring. Next aim (no pun intended) is to put all 10 through the bull. A cracking springer and damned good value for money. Heartily recommended. (read more)

After a lot of consideration I bought a 99S a couple of weeks ago.
I was unsure whether to go for the the 99 or the 95. The very helpful shop owner let me try both and went for the 99S carbine. I went for 99S because even though power wise it is the same as the 95 it was lighter and so would be better for long period use.
A positive point was it came with open irons which I like to use some times, the 95 didn't. It will take a scope as well so you get the best of both worlds.
It isn't...

I have had mine for a number of years now, and it hasn't let me down, I've shot against Fenmans Weihrauch 90's and the 95's I'm a Sring Gun man everytime
If there is a gripe with it, it is the loud muzzle report from the gun when it is fired, I live on a Left Wing Council Estate near Wakefield, and have had the Police say I had been reported for shooting in my own back garden.
I was looking for a Ratting gun, and got more than I bargained for with the Weihrauch 99S, it has no...

Bought a HW99S from the good folk at AirShooting, after a lot of deliberation. I have recently been granted permission to shoot over a friends land, and my old QB78 wasn't quite up to it. Initially looking for a BSA Lightning, but was thankfully advised out of it. Having held the two guns next to each other, there is nothing in it, the BSA rattled and felt loose and cheap, the Weihrauch just felt like quality. Zeroed it at the shop, and on my first outing took three bunnies with three shots,... (read more)

Just bought one of these and am struggling to get the scope mounted properly because of the large degree of barrel droop. I've tried shimming the rear mount, but the amount of packing needed is excessive, so now I'm looking at getting an adjustable mount e.g. BSA Scopemaster 1 Piece Double Screw Fully adjustable - but these are not cheap at around £35 + p&p.
Having said that, I'm very pleased with the build quality and overall feel of the gun. I've only put half a tin of pellets through...

I have only zeroed the HW99s so far and put about 60 pellets through it on a 25 yard indoor range, but straight from the box I was able to get one inch groupings in a very short time. I have a 3.9x50 scope fitted, which I think is a must have item. The rifle is light weight, although has a very solid well made feel and very comfortable even for me at 6ft 2ins and with long arms. I initially found the cocking action very stiff, but that soon got easier or I became used to it. The spring has a... (read more)

This gun is amazing! Have owned both pre-charged and springers before, and this has to be my favourite. It's deadly accurate, although it's a little twangy (i'm sure this will lessen as time progresses, as have owned the gun for 2 days now). At the price i paid of £240 with no scope, it wasn't a cheap gun, but compared to cometas and gamos and other cheaper guns, the difference is phenominal! I LOVE THIS GUN :D (read more)

Bought my Weihrauch HW 99s brand new for £190. I've had it for less than 12 months now and it perfoms as well as when I bought, the spring is a bit twangy but from a distance its hardly noticable.
I find that this gun is not very pellet fussy though all the pellets I've used are expensive ones.
There is a bit of recoil on it but you get that from all springers.

The Weihrauch HW 99s is an awesome gun. Close range, long range, targets, hunting you name it and this gun does it better than any of my other air rifles. I have shot many birds and the only problem with this gun for hunting is that the spring makes a large 'crack' sound when you fire and that usually scares a few birds away. The recoil can also cause your aim to vary if you dont support the gun (ie. letting it rest on a table when shooting with no hand below the forestock) as it has low... (read more)

The Weihrauch HW 99s has good, solid German workmanship. Trigger has remained consistent and dependable for 10 years.
Very accurate when not held too tightly.
I keep meaning to put it across a chronograph, but am pretty sure that even after all the use it has had, it is still pushing out the .177 pellets at close to the legal 12 ft/lb limit.

I love this gun. There are many strong points and with only one real downer, the stiffness when cocking (as i said above, not a problem as it eases up).
Lets start with the looks. This gun looks great, you can tell that it has been well made just from looking at it. The wood is sooooo smooth and the barrel looks very sturdy. The iron sights are no exception, they look the part and fit in well with the rest of the gun. When the gun is broken, looking down the barrel at the rifling is very...

You said you're only 15? I'm 16, and I'm just wondering ... do you find it a problem to find somewhere "safe" to shoot? And as well as this, where do you shoot? I just can't be bothered to join a club, so I go shooting at a little secluded area that I know. It's not a problem, apart from the dog walker that comes passed every five minutes or so. And to be honest, I don't think my dad's gun paranoia is true to real life. Generally, I've found that people don't care when they see me carrying my break-barrel, because they know that it's an air rifle, and they know that it's not a real one. Anywho, it'd be good if you could get back to me on these questions.
Thanks,

Hi
yer it can be a problem. I am fortunate enough to have a stable yard that belongs to my grandad and my other grandparents have a large garden and fields so i can usually find somewhere. I have also shot with a friend in his garden :)

Just bought a secondhand Weihrauch HW99 complete with a Simmons 3-9x40 scope for £100. (Bargain I thought)
The rifle is in A1 condition and the scope looks unused. Having been out of airgunning for many years maybe some other 99 users could clear a couple of things up. Firstly, I read everywhere that this is a 'full power rifle' (12f/lbs energy)

UPDATE.....
I have had the 99 chrono'd and it was pushing out 16 grain lazadomes out at 11.3 ft/lbs - therefore it is pretty much full power.
I have also realised the 'twang' or vibration when firing is no worse than other springers - its just the nature of the beast.
Written on: 06/11/2006
The "twang" always seems noisy to the shooter, as we have our ears right next to the action. Get someone to fire the Weihrauch HW99 and stand 10 yards behind, and I think you'll find it really isn't that bad!
Written on: 29/06/2007
Twang... take the spring out and check it for damage. A broken spring can cause excess twang and can effect accuracy.. also you could take it to a gunsmith and have it tuned. A good tune will make it quieter and give better consistency.

Owned the Weihrauch HW 99s rifle for two weeks and took it back to the Shop and replaced it with are HW95K.
The screws on the stock had to be locked in place with Loctite as they kept falling out.
The first Hundred pellets were within one and a half inch groups at 30 yards then the accuracy went badly wrong and couldn't get them on the target.
One hundred and fifty pellets later the piston could be heard scrapping the cylinder just before it locked solid and died.

Weihrauch HW 99s - I was originally going to get a BSA Lightning having read the reviews, but when I got to the gunshop and had a look and a chat with the friendly expert, I was persuaded to buy a Weihrauch HW99S. One reason is that you could remove the telescopic sight and use the existing front sight. My gun was fitted with a Hawke 4 x 40 scope which is more than adequate. Build quality is excellent. The rifle feels very solid and well put together. The stock is a well finished quality piece of beech, blueing is excellent. Relatively lightweight and easy to handle. It has a good trigger...
