Having established clearly before we ordered that the 2 courses lunch menu was available we were subsequently charged for each individual item - the bill was over £50 for two for what was mediocre food - dry vegetables, tough meat (boar and duck)with stale tepid fondant potato. Could do a lot better. Place was virtually empty so maybe word has spread.

Have eaten before at Hurrens, normally the food is good but the service is poor. This time about 36 covers only one waitress and one waiter. Was told that there was a party of 18 upstairs so orders will be delayed. Waited 57 minutes before order was taken. Starters were very good, soup and crab risotto. Then had top of the menu Welsh steaks @ £17.95. My wife ordered med/rare and it had so much grisle and was tough she had to ask for a steak knife which was not available. She left about a third of it as she could not cut it. My steak was ordered med, came well done over a third was gristle. Could not complain due to staff not being in the downstairs restaurant area for over 20 minutes and we were so hungry, it was now about 1015pm having arrived at 8.25.We were given a free glass of wine for the 55 minute delay, but declined sweets. Why should I give Graham, the owner more profit when he is too tight to employ more staff in the restaurant and also in the kitchen.
This is 2 customers he has lost. We go to the Porterhouse for two thirds of the price, excellent steaks, good service. This Raymond Blanc trained chef must have left his course early when he was dealing with customer service. The waitress was lovely and our dogs enjoyed the scraps.

Party of 10 enjoyed Sunday lunch to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday on 26th September 2010.
Quality of food was very good with a wide choice of starters in particular.
Service could have been slicker but all staff very friendly. They all brought the birthday cake to the table and joined in with the singing of Happy Birthday.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Having been recommended Hurrens we were very dissappointed. The starters were great but the main course left something to be desired. My partner found a piece of glass in his meal and put it on his side plate. The waiter took this away, not the whole meal and returned saying that it was plastic not glass and had come from the jar that the sauce was in! This is not helpful. The seniour member of staff should have come to appologise and a new meal provided. The, presumably, senior waiter was quite dismissive when I mentioned how unhappy we were on leaving. 'you didn't have to pay for the meal. What else could we do'
We will never return. They were negligent.

On arrival the a member of staff was dressed in long shorts and a checked shirt - not quite the attire for a so called upmarket restaurant! We waited 3 quarters of an hour to have our order taken. The meals came eventually. Two meals were cold and had to be sent back. They were re-heated! After some discussion we eventually came to an agreement with the owner and left without paying! Not a good dining experience.

Main courses at Hurrens Inn in Loughor came before starters were completely finished and cleared away. After ordering food arrived very quickly and was of poor quality - tough fatty boar, in all the dishes the seasoning was all over the place and all dishes were quite average. After the initial haste we then waited 45 mins with main course plates in front of us to try and get deserts. After finally getting the desert menu we waited a further 30 mins to order, eventually deciding to forsake desert and went to find a waiter to try and pay. Bill came with 2 chocolates on a plate for 4 people - another sign of poor attention to detail and uncaring service. Very, very disappointing, would not visit again or recommend. Poor value for money.

Had Sunday lunch at Hurrens Inn on St Davids day and was not disappointed. All 3 courses were superb and faultless. Service had improved from previous visits and was a lot quicker. There were some great Welsh classic dishes on the menu and we enjoyed cawl, cockles, laverbread and bacon on a portobello mushroom to start followed by Welsh rump steak cooked to perfection and a yummy sticky toffee pudding with pecan sauce. The whole family, who had come down for the weekend enjoyed it especially the homemade Welsh cakes. It was lovely! Will be going back!

Didn't live up to expectations. Food was dissapointing, communication between front of house and kitchen appeared poor. Despite our specific request to not be rushed through our courses the main was still ready to be served before we had finished our starter. Boar was tough, I only had it because the waiter told me that it was succulent, (having had tough boar before I really was hoping that this time would be great), the scollops looke miserly (cut in half?), no ice cream served with the merangue and had to go downstiars to order my own coffee because there was no sign of the waiter for 15 minutes and then they took another 20 minutes and still didn't arrive, but our taxi did.

A very nice day out, it's the sort of place you could go back to again and again. As a friend told me they change the menu regularly so you can go again and again without having to eat the same thing. Modern and orignal but classic dishes.

I found the evening menu to seem very expensive, tiny portions, very over-rated, I thought it certainly didn't live up to reputation. My husband asked for medium cooked meat dish, but came out of kitchen very rare. Desert meringue needed a chisel to get through, and had just 2 strawberries and 2 raspberries with it! Tiny cups of coffee. Won't be making a return visit.

I thought Hurren's Inn was over hyped and over priced. Most wines on list not available, meat not good quality. Kitchen staff seemed to spend most of their time watering the pots on the terrace which may explain the poor standard of cooking.

Hurrens Inn On The Estuary is a nice enough place for dinner and drinks with friends/family (it was certainly busy), but gourmet food it isn't. The best course was an excellent dessert, but this had been preceded by an OK portabello mushroom with cockles, bacon and laverbread and a very disappointing sirloin.
