We went on a Sun holiday to Trevelgue Holdiay Park in Porth at the end of October. After reading these reviews we were very nervous about driving all the way down the country to find it was that bad we would want to come home. We needn't have worried. So it's not the Ritz but what do you expect for less that £50 for a family holiday?
Our caravan was close to the entrance and the week were were there, the shower block and toilets were being refurbed (even the builders were friendly and polite!). They'd recently put down new grass everywhere and you can see that they are improving the site. We saw no rubbish on site and the refuse collection area was cleared regularly.
The caravan was clean but was a littly damp smelling and cold but we left doors open to circulate the air while we were there. OH smokes but would only smoke outside and so did the other smokers in the surrounding vans but as the vans contain ashtrays, I suppose some people may smoke inside. The shower was great although sometimes hard to maintain a temperature (it sometimes got hot), the freeview tv worked a treat and the fire, although stiff to light, was great to curl up in front of when the kids were in bed and we were exausted after a day exploring and walking! We had no trouble with the cooker or fridge so could cater for family meals.
Many of the facilities were closed or only open limited times but as we wanted a cheap base to explore the SW of the country we didn't mind. Without a car to travel to surrounding areas, it would be either very relaxing (the view across the fields is lovely and it isn't a far walk to the sea but it is very hilly) or very boring depending on your outlook. We took portable dvds and games etc for the kids to keep them entertained when we were'nt out. We did take an internet dongle but the mobile phone signal (for orange) was very weak, if we had one at all, so internet was impossible and phone calls difficult. There is an internet cafe by the main entrance but we didn't use it.
We had no issues with other site users and in fact found everyone friendly. The site security and maintainance team were polite and always ready for a chat. We didn't find the site noisy but were told that only single holdiay makers were put up the top end of the site nearest to the "Smugglers rest" that may be a bit rowdy in high season.
Obviously it's more expensive down south and when paying about £4 for fish and chips in our chippes here, seeing them at over £7 was a bit of a surprise - £2 for a portion of chips is almost double our local prices. There are lots of supermarkets (tesco, morrisons asda) within driving distanace however which are marked in a brochure in the welcome pack given to you on arrival.
All in all, we were very happy with our late winter break here!

oh my god what have I done were my thoughts when I read other reviews of this site. However when I arrived with my wife and 2 boys aged 12 and 14 we were greeted very warmley by the nice young lady on reception, great I thought things are looking good. We were then showed to our caravan what a sh*t hole smelt damp and not very clean. Kitchen surfaces were old and peeling sink was badley marked. Shower cr*p impossible to get correct water temperature, taps on sink would only turn of under extreme ...- Read Guest's review (160 words)

We booked through the Sun holiday promotion as we have been on their holidays countless times before and have always been happy.
On arrival we were less than impressed with the park.
Our caravan stank of cigarette smoke and damp.
The grass outside our door was littered with rubbish and glass.
The cooker was faulty which made catering for a family very difficult.
The toilet door had a badly fitted bolt on the inside and another on the outside complete with peep hole!!
The heater in the bedroom wa ...- Read harrisbelway's review (155 words)

We have just returned from a Friday to Monday holiday through the Sun, it did not cost us much at all. I was quite cautious about going after reading reviews. We were given a caravan near to the entrance and it was very clean and well equipped with microwave and freeview flat screen t.v. The only downside was gas fire was hard to ignite and the window in childrens room was draughty. It was very comfortable. My children aged 7 and 4 really loved the club and the amusements arcade. I feel the site ...- Read Guest's review (166 words)

Having read the reviews on this site we thought we would give it the benefit of the dought with it being a mixed bag of reviews.
Traveled from Manchester 24th October 2009 5 1/2hr trip!,
On arrival we were absoloutly shattered all we wanted to do was crash out for a few hours,
We got to our first caravan T87 and was astounded at the state of it, the steps was broken, the whole caravan stank, the cooker was rusted, and mould on the curtains furnishings, access was limited too.

We just arrived back today (12.9.09) from Trevelgue Holiday Park. We booked through a sun holiday promotion & booked an extra day making it Monday to Friday stay, at approx £106. Before setting off i rang & spoke to a lady & informed her of my findings on this web site & she assured me we would be put in a quiet spot & to be fair we were offered a van near the entrance rather than at the oposite end of the site near the 18 - 30 guys. The first 2 vans we rufused as they were in a dirty stat ...- Read Guest's review (218 words)

After reading the reviews on this site on Trevelgue Holiday Park I rang the park to express my concerns. The girls I spoke to were very polite and reassuring and promised to put my family in a quiet spot. Seeing as this was the first sun holiday i'd been on I left for my holiday with an open mind. We had decided to upgrade and were very happy with the caravan we were given. We experienced no rudeness or unfriendliness from any of the staff. The pool and bar were both to a good standard. It was with extremely low expectations that we went to Trevelgue. We were booked in though Sun holidays. We were a party of 4 adults & 2 children. on arrival we were not overly impressed. When we got there we were surprised to be in a 3 bedroom caravan, which was a lot better than someone being stuck in living room! We had a few problems - window not closing properly, broken door catches, but to be fair these were dealt with quickly. We found the staff to be friendlier than expected, and were pl ...- Read Guest's review (143 words)

We have just come back from camping at Trevelgue Holiday Park. Our first impression was why did we bother!! The small campsite had a portaloo aand also porta cabins which were the showers. The showers near the shop were very small and you had to put your clothes in a bag to hang up so they didn't get wet. the toilets were just as bad they were clean only just!!
The man in the shop wasn't at all helpful.
We run out of calor gas and nearest place that didn't was another campsite 7 miles away.

I, my wife and two young kids (6 band 4) booked a four night stay in August at Trevelgue via the Sun newspaper Holiday promotion. Total spend £140 (after upgrade).
We read reviews just before starting our holiday and we voiced our concerns. We requested a van away from the amenities and the dreaded campsite!
We got a great van (2 year old), never heard a thing at night and overall had a great time. The pool is the jewel in the crown, large, not too busy and supervised.
My advice, upgrad ...- Read corbetbaxter's review (116 words)

The Trevelgue Holiday Park toilets do not lock, the sites showers do not lock & there is no where to put your clothes whilst having a shower apart from one hook. we camped here but what the website fails to telkl you is that they are right next to a club 18-30's camp site called Smugglers Haven or Den !! They obviously thought the wooden fence that was between us would stop the noise of the revving cars, the very loud music, the fire works & the screams of the people on the camp site !! We booked at Trevelgue Holiday Park site for a static van on a "special offer", THEN I read the reviews on this page. Started getting worried as we have a 9 month old and a 3 year old.....I called them and told them of my worries that my kids would be kept awake by revellers and/or the bus that goes until 3.30am and also of the van being cold damp and dirty. They were very good and practically offered my money back if we decided not to go, they understood our fears and would put us in the quiete ...- Read Guest's review (398 words)

To be honest i was very wary of going to this site after reading the reviews.
For us it was a base so we could go to the vast amount of beaches in the area.
Yes there where loads of young people and the boardmasters music festival going on, this did create of lot noise on our first night, but it was only one night!
We paid a low budget price and got low budget facilities. The caravan was old but clean, for us it served it's purpose.
We had a good time in Cornwall it was our first uk holiday in ...- Read Guest's review (139 words)

Just returned a day early from Trevelgue Holiday Park this noisey, grubby dump of a site. I would not recommend it to anyone thinking of a lovely family holiday. Glass every where, dirty caravan, the only nice thing about it was the Mother duck and her ducklings, what a shame they had to swim in a stream full of beer cans. Oh and the next best thing about it... Leaving!
If I had read the reviews before I went I would have asked for a refund.
