“Worst in sending money abroad”

It is always the same answer 7-10days for the money to arrive to destination but all big talk, after 20 DAYS money sent to M'sia have yet to received??? Totally ridiculous and yet have to pay £19.50 for this type of service. I wonder after so much complaints about their service yet no improvement at all, matter of time it will turn away all customers!!! (read more)

Money left swedish account 10 days ago (banking days excl weekends) STILL nothing appearing on UK Halifax current account statement - takes ages! To the point I was double checking IBAN and SWIFT! Far too long for a transfer!! (read more)

I HAVE USED THISSERVICE TO SEND MONEY TO JAMAICA IT TOOK OVER TWO WEEKS AFTER THEY SENT THE MONEY TO A HOLDING BANK AND DEMANDED I PAY THEM £12 TO TRACE IT AFTER PAYING THEM £7.50 TO SEND. AVOID USE MONEY GRAM HALIFAX IS NO GOOD, ITS THE WORST TRANSACTION IVE DONE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE (read more)

9 days passed and money still not there in China. All I can do is join other who are unhappy from halifax service. Ridiculous as they promise fast transfer. Western Union would be there next day and it's much cheaper. It was first and last time I've used it.

Well - here is my honest review:

Halifax are STEALING MONEY - please do not use them.

They charge £9.50 for Europe transfer but it should be free SEPA and their rate are stolen money.

Today: 1GBP=1.12 at Halifax and at citibank (free SEPA Transfer)=1.16;

So this was my first and LAST experience with them. Unbelievable - I can not believe this but I will use them to recoup my money (I HAVE 3 REWARD ACCOUNTS WITH THEM SO I WILL RECOUP MY MONEY).

It was a test but a bad one.

On 21th of January i paid 9.50 charges and i've sent 2000CZK to Czech republic my wife's CS Bank account.
1. Problem: Convert currency rate: Halifax should use the middle course of official currency convert rate but they used the unreal rate which was worse then officialy worse currency convert rate.
2. Problem:
2000CZK + £9.50 charges paid and money finally arrived 8 days later on my wife's account. BUT! 1648CZK only !!!!!!!!!!!

International Payments...well thats a joke from day one!!!!make a international payment to a BPI account which me and my wife have in the Philippines...Transactions normally take 4 days through the Swift System..however this time around a mere 6 days and nothing as yet..when u call them u spend around 2 minutes,giving all the info to get them to sort out the problem,only to find in saying all you get is we can't find the information you ask about,...what a waste of 15 pound,always have... Their exchange rate really low compare with normal exchange rate. I lost lot money jz to send some money to my family but their cost is expensive and rate is low. I will never use them

The worst! They are slow, inept, disguise their actual rates and impose charges about which they do not inform you. It is amazing that this bank survives at all given the complete inattention to conducting even basic transactions.

Take your business elsewhere. Send your enemies to Halifax. (read more)

This is another banking con, the rate is not the published rate. The Halifax take a generous fee and then skim more on what they say the exchange rate is. I'm extremely wary of using this. I've had dealings with them on inbound international payments in the past and over certain amounts they will rob you blind, lie and cheat. I've had traces put on transfers before by the sending bank and each time the money has been received by them in a matter of days only for HBOS sit on it for weeks... (read more)

When using Halifax International Payment System you'll need a Swift or Iban number of the local bank at receivers end.
Can take upto 3 weeks for the transfer to complete.
Halifax unable to confirm transfer successfull until confirmation from the overseas bank therefore a long wait again.
Some Halifax staff seem unaware of the transaction process and the "International Transfer Team" are not easily available. Overall I would advise using ay other quicker service as the Halifax one is very... (read more)
