“Not what exactly what i booked, a bit of a let down.”

Written on: 06/01/2013 by VickiFairman (1 review written)

I booked a routemaster London red bus for my guests & i also booked a Beaufort Beauford for me. When i first spoke to allied i made it very clear (because every bride knows exactly how many bridesmaids they have on the day) that i needed a car to transport me, my mum, head bridesmaid and my 16mt old daughter in a car seat to the venue, and to also take my 3 other bridesmaides to the venue first. I was told to find a car on there site that i liked and they would tell me if it would be... (read more)

Vicki Fairman, date 16th November 2012.
I would like to add that the Beauforth Beauford was a beautiful car, the driver was professional, on time and a lovely man. None of this was his fault, he even waited around longer than expected after for photos, so i am pleased with him, its Allied that i have my complaint with. I have since had harassing letters and calls asking me to write a review for Allied, i understand that that is your company policy to get reviews and that they are important but maybe not so many of them. Perhaps it will be better if you offer a contract to customers via post or email so that they can check times and details at the time of booking - it would smooth out all the potential problems. I had 2 calls leading up to my wedding to go over times that the bus should pick up my guests, despite that the bus company had to call me to check as Allied had told them a hr later and they were concerned that they wouldn't get to the venue on time. I confirmed with them, then they had to call again as they was told again that it was wrong and that wasn't the time id wanted - despite me going over it with Allied at the time of booking and twice on the phone. I doesn't look like there's a system in place to keep these details for clients either. If you can look at all this that would be great, i think some improvements need to be made somewhere. Thank Vicki

Reference the complaint of January 6th.

We have the following comments to make.

Whilst we are highly sympathetic to the customer’s situation we feel that she must take the blame for her disappointment.

It is extremely rare for a bride to bring a baby with her to her wedding. This has never ever happened to us before.

We advertise vintage and classic cars dating from 1926 and seat belts were not supplied until after 1965 and not made compulsory until 1985, that is common knowledge and if she was too young to know this then her parents or grandparents should have warned her to ensure the vintage car she chose would have a seat belt.

We regret we cannot accept responsibility for her error although in one breath the customer says to quote “the good thing about Allied Wedding Cars is that they are prompt with returning your calls and keep you up to date with the suppliers and timings etc. The man I was dealing with was very helpful and nice at Allied, and then in the next sentence she says we are a shambles.” A remark we object to.

Reference the London Bus she did not specify a colour.

We are glad, to quote, it did not impact on her day.

With regards to the remark of seats required we assumed that this baby would have been carried on somebody’s lap, so a 3 seater would have been adequate. Once again we have no knowledge of how babies are transported nowadays as we did not own a car when our children were babies.

To maintain our very high standard we write to every customer after their wedding asking for any complaints. She ignored our letter and wrote to Review.Com instead.

I recently came to England from Italy for my daughter's wedding and I needed a car to make the appropriate impression. I found Allied Wedding Cars on google and booked a lovely car with them over the phone. The gentleman who answered the phone was very good, intelligent and patietn with me. Reference the complaint of October 27th 2012; we have the following comments to make.

First of all let me say how sorry we are that we could not give this customer the sort of service we have given to many thousands of customers over 50 years due to the holiday period creating great pressure for us which we could not cope with as we would normally have liked to do.

We will deal with each complaint individually.

Number 1.

We agree we did not answer her various emails because we were on holiday – Sorry for this holiday.

Number 2.

Eventually she managed to get through on the phone to us after we returned from our holiday. We informed her that we were swamped with calls and that eventually we would return her calls when we reached her order in the huge pile we had.

We did call her back as promised when a request was made for a receipt for the deposit, we told her that she would get one eventually once we had cleared the backlog of orders. i.e.145. She eventually received a receipt.

Her complaint about a refund was taken totally out of context. She asked us first “What will happen if the car does not turn up”? We then answered her question which is exactly what we do to all customers’ questions.

Anybody asking the same question we would also pay compensation without being asked for it

We apologise for getting the day and date wrong which is why we always send out any acknowledgement with receipt for the customer to check the accuracy of all the details. These errors were due to huge pressure due to the holiday period after the 3 week holiday.

The acknowledgement was written by a partially sighted person, under the company policy of equal opportunity employment, to give employment to disabled people. Once again we send our apologies.

We hope that she understands the problems we have with external drivers and other companies.

This complaint was only one of two we had from approximately 400 bookings in 2012.

This customer admits she made lots of unnecessary calls, which were not necessary. Her complaint about getting the driver’s wrong is incorrect. We have to change drivers for many different business reasons and then change the details we gave her. She did not order champagne on her signed order so we did not supply it. All drivers leave the reception as soon as they drop the bride unless they have specifically stated they want the car to stay for photographs which may have incurred extra charges. No such request was made on the order form.

When we wrote to her after the wedding, as we do to all customers after their wedding, to see if they were satisfied or otherwise we asked her to write directly to us if she was dissatisfied, or to write to you if she was satisfied.

If she had written to us with her complaint instead of you we could have given her compensation, but as wrote to you instead we cancelled the potential compensation.

We are both losers because of her error.

We found the website from searching online and chose a car. Reference the complaint of 7/10/12.

Please note the following.

The customer complaint that the car did not exist is totally incorrect.

When the customer ordered the car it was available but unfortunately it was, at a later date, totally written off in an accident so when she talked to the driver afterwards he was quite correct to say that it did not exist then.

He failed to explain what had happened.

Our contract states quite clearly in very large easily readable print that we reserve the right to send a replacement if the car originally ordered becomes unavailable.

If she had contacted us and calmly discussed the situation we would have able to sort it out to her satisfaction. She was not calm. We are never rude to customers.

We are sorry about the accident which was beyond our control.

An identical car has now replaced it.

Reference the comments made on the review of 28/09/12.

We are pleased that the customer was pleased with the car and the driver who as usual turned up early as instructed by us to do so to put the bride’s mind at rest.

‘The car has arrived thank God I can now relax’

We do not accept orders by text or email because we always want a signature on a letter. Because all letters are different but all ‘E’ mails are virtually identical it is very easy to lose one amongst a pile of other emails or text which is probably what happened here and because of that we had no letter attached to a blank order form. We are sorry if the customer found our system not to his liking. We regret that we cannot make exceptions for customers because things go wrong, as it seemed to have done with this order because we could not tie up the payment he made with his email. Sorry, but it turned out all right on the day.

Finally we always give the driver’s phone number to the customer once the full payment is made. We do not give it beforehand because we sometimes have to change drivers and that has caused confusion in the past with the customer talking to the wrong driver too soon before the wedding.

“DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ANY COST”

I booked a wedding car through "Allied Wedding Cars" based in Gerrard's Cross well in advance of our wedding. Alliedweddingcarsgerrardscross's Comment

Written on: 25/11/2012

Reference the complaint of 27th September 2012.
We have the following comments to make.

We agree that the customer gave us a booking for a car which we passed onto another Company in the trade (which is standard practice in the wedding trade) because we could not do the job ourselves because of car problems. That Company was also unable to supply the car because the owner of that car had a heart problem and was not insured for anybody else to drive his ‘Pride & Joy’.
The Company we gave the job to should have contacted us and told us the full story and we would then have placed the job with another Company. The customer complaint should be directed at Robert not at us.
We do not believe he was abrupt or rude on the phone, the fact that he did not ignore her and always rang her back after missing her calls would indicate that he was trying to help her.
We never ever recommend a car, we always ask a customer to look at the website and make their own choice. We do not use or employ pushy salesmen to sell a car. That is left entirely to the customer. Her complaint that she discovered that we had many other complaints is an exaggeration. The number of complaints based over 5 years from 2008 is miniscule compared with approximately 2000 bookings.
We always make refunds by paying cash into customer’s accounts and thus we get a receipt from the bank concerned because customers do not always acknowledge receipt of payment causing problems with the Inland Revenue when we submit our accounts, and it is much quicker for the customer because the money is in their account the same day as opposed to waiting to clear a cheque.
We left a message on her phone the same day we got her order, which is exactly what we do with every customer.
We could not send her a receipt immediately because we had to make sure her cheque deposit was cleared. We did eventually send her a receipt, as we always do, because we wanted her confirmation that the details were correct. Unfortunately the details were wrong and she told us so. Good job we send receipts for customers to check the details.
Our apologies for misplacing her deposit, but because we have so many after the holiday the error was ours. We did not get the driver’s name wrong, we told her who to pay but we changed the driver at the last minute.
We never give champagne unless it is ordered and paid for. It wasn’t, neither was there anything on the order form for photographs to be taken next to the driver and car, but the disappointment was due to too many people wanting our attention at the same time after the holiday. So sorry.
We called her many times because we discovered her phone number on our phone after we dialled 1471 to check who had called us when we could not answer our phone due to pressure.
It is far better to communicate too often with a client than not to ring them at all. In many cases we were returning her unanswered calls.
Sorry if this booking did not go quite as smoothly as most of them do. The post holiday pressure was too great. Sorry.

Reference the complaint by (name removed) about his daughter’s wedding on September 15th and his complaint of September 27th. We have the following further comments to make.

(Name removed) probably did talk about a white car when he phoned but he must be aware that we have many more customers than just him and it is totally impossible to remember individual customer details, particularly when we receive their written order so many days later, having spoken to at least 10/15 potential customers each day. The person who answered the phone does not handle the written order so that person would not know about the request for a white car.

We repeat that he did NOT order a white car in his letter which we have retained or in the contract he signed. That contract we have in our possession proving that if he wishes to go to court we can prove that, putting it bluntly, he is lying.

We suspect that he got it in the neck from his daughter because a white car did not arrive so he is blaming us for his two mistakes. Please remove this libellous claim. We will issue a writ if it does not disappear quickly.

Reference to the complaint on 27/09/12 we are extremely sorry to read of the customer’s complaint about our own inability to supply the car which she ordered, but this was due to a matter totally beyond our control because the driver was due to have heart surgery.

We told the customer that nobody else would be allowed to drive the car because the owner would not want anybody else to drive his pride and joy which we certainly understood.

We never recommend cars to customers because we have 56 cars to choose from and we want customers to make their own choose from our website and not leave the choice to us. She may not have liked our choice and then complained on the day.

She complained that we rang her back seven times and told her that we had received a call from her number, which we got by dialling 1471, we did not recognise her number because we get 20/30 calls a day and she failed to leave a message so we did not know who had phoned us.

We object to the claim that we were rude and abrupt. This is totally incorrect. We may talk quickly because of pressure from other phone calls but we are never rude.

If she reads the complaints of other customers she will see that we have dealt with most of these complaints in a very satisfactory manner. Her comments covered 10 customers in 5 years and possible 2000 customers. A small percentage.

We ask customers for a letter cancelling a booking as proof to the Inland Revenue what the refund was for. Quite a nominal request.

We repeat we did not let the customer down, the unexpected heart surgery problem was the cause of the refund which she was totally unsympathetic about.

Once again our apologies.

“Great on the day”

We booked a Rolls Royce for our wedding and had no major problems. They were obviously keen to get it right, and when it came to the wedding itself the driver and the car were both great, however there was a lot of needless contact with some mis-communication before the day - wrong numbers being phoned, wrong people being called etc, but no big deal. The bubbly in the car on the way to the reception was a lovely touch, and we'd certainly recommend them. (read more)

Reference the complaint of November 26th , 2011.

We are extremely puzzled about our pedantic approach to dealing with his order. We do not understand his complaint. We do not accept verbal bookings whatsoever for very obvious reasons.

We ask the customer to lay out his requirements in a specific way so that the driver will be able to read very clearly exactly what is required whilst in his car on the day.

We insist on everything being in strict time order, for example we do not want the first detail to be the time of the wedding.

We want the date first, the pickup time second, the pickup place next, the marriage address next and then the time of the wedding followed by the reception address. By doing this our way nothing goes wrong. It didn’t.

We don’t give the driver the customer’s phone number before the customer has paid in full a month before the wedding because years of experience has shown that this can sometimes cause problems.

We are sorry he found us pedantic but we must control the booking our way. Not the customer’s way to avoid errors occurring.

We are glad he was satisfied with the car and driver we chose. The vast majority of our customers are.

Wish I had read this review site before becoming involved with Allied Wedding Cars. This is the worst service I have ever come across and I suspect that I am just one in a long line of disatisfied customers! In a nutshell, wrong car supplied on wedding day and appalling customer service. Am just about to embark on legal proceedings as have given the owner, Michael, plenty of opportunity to resolve this matter by refunding me half of the money I paid. I will of course, stand corrected and let... (read more)

Reference the complaint of November 13th, 2011.

We are very sorry to read of the customer’s complaint.

Because of circumstances beyond our control we could not supply the car the customer originally ordered and at the last minute we had to send a replacement rather than not turn up at all.

We know that it is very upsetting for the bride and all we can say is we are very very sorry.

Our contract states in very large clear print that we reserve the right to send a replacement car if the car that was ordered becomes unavailable for whatever reason and that we would send an alternative car.

In December this was the only occasion out of over 300 bookings we had where we couldn’t supply the car ordered.

The customer did not sue us.

Written on: 15/11/2010

We hired our wedding car from Allied Wedding Cars and we couldn't have asked for more. The driver and the car were immaculate. The driver Mr B Marshall was so kind and courteous. The Wedding Car was superb and it made a wonderful day complete. I would use this company again and recommend without hesitation to others for their special day.

Written on: 19/05/2010 by fed up shopper (1 review written)

I don't kone where to start. i booked a white rolls royce for my daughters wedding through Anitas Wedding cars and deposit sent to Mr M Horrocks. Then the fun begins; four/five weeks ago he rang me to say that the driver of the rolls I had booked was ill ( something to do with his eyesight) so the car could not be provided. At this stage I believed that Anitas cars would be providing the car, I did not realise that he was some sort of booking agent. he agreed to track down an alternative ( I... (read more)

Allied Wedding Cars's Response to fed up shopper's Review

Written on: 17/08/2010

In reply to "Fed Up Shopper's" complaint: The driver for Anita's became ill and ceased driving. We took over his phone calls and tried to find alternative cars; but we were unsuccessful. We would like to refund the deposit and all "Fed Up Shopper" needs to do is supply a bank account number and sort code - details previously given to us on the cheque originally sent. The reviewer was offered a full refund but has a problem with some security issue. We ourselves no longer use cheques. Whenever a cheque is issued bank details are given over to every recipient so there is nothing secret about it, so "Fed Up Shopper's" claim that they are unable to resend bank details for security reasons does not hold any water. We would like to refund the Deposit but repeat are unable to do so until we are given the bank account details. Please remove this complaint. Thank you.

“I wish I'd seen the reviews for Allied before I booked...”

Written on: 27/07/2009

I wish I'd seen the reviews for Allied before I booked through them - I completely agree with other reviewers poor experience of this company. The car they sent was the wrong colour and while it does state in the contract that if they can't supply the exact car they send something similar but no one thought to let me know beforehand that the car I wanted was not available. The shock when the car they sent turned up was not pleasant and the journey to the venue ruined as a result. Customer... (read more)

Re the above comment. This has been drawn to our attention and we wish to say the following. First of all, we are extremely sorry that the customer was unhappy with the car that arrived in a different colour to the one ordered and that we failed to inform the customer of this beforehand. The reason he was not informed was because the original car, which was over fifty years old, had mechanical problems on the morning of the wedding and we had to move quickly to find a replcaement car, which we succeeded in doing. The alternative was to say sorry the car has broken down and not bothered to find a replacement with only one hour to do so. We supplied a car which he should have been thankful for rather than no car arriving. To use the word \"shock\" is an exaggertion of the situatiom. To say the journey was ruined because the outside of the car was a different colour we think is also an exaggeration of the situation.
The comment that we do not take calls because we recognise the number of a possible complainant is rubbish. We are a very busy office and when we cannot take calls we put the answering machine on to apologise for this. We NEVER hang up on customers! Once again we are sorry that the customer was disappointed with the colour of the car supplied, but at least he did get a car, which is better than no car at all.

“I have been dealing with Allied Cars and ordered a Red...”

Written on: 18/05/2009 by alicekane (1 review written)

I have been dealing with Allied Cars and ordered a Red Morse Jag, and like the other reviews on here, I have had a terrible time trying to get hold them and have received terrible customer service. On every call i have made he has taken other calls while i am on the line in mid conversation.
He phoned me after i had paid a deposit and signed a contract (written in large marker pen) for the Red Jag, to say that they were unable to supply that car as the driver had just had a stroke. After... (read more)

In reply to Alice Kane's complaint of 18th May 2009 (two years ago) we have the following comments to make.
We agree that when the customer telephoned us that we had to politely interrupt her because of the noise of three other telephones which were ringing and we could not hear what she was saying because of the noise.
We could not supply the original car as ordered because the driver had a stroke and went blind because of this.
Her complaint that never look at our website is true. We have no need to because we never change it. It is only there for the benefit of customers.
This lady talked and talked and talked repeating herself again and again and again and we could not get a word in edgeways. She never stopped for breath. There comes a time when we have to say to someone who rambles on and on and on that we need to interrupt to put an end to the conversation. A very difficult woman to deal with. We think she was on the telephone for half an hour!

“We had the misfortune to deal with Allied Wedding Cars...”

Written on: 02/09/2008

We had the misfortune to deal with Allied Wedding Cars at Gerrards Cross and ordered two wedding cars for a recent wedding. I felt that the whole process was a nightmare and a failure to honour their commitment was only narrowly averted. We ordered the cars through Allied but our response came from Pandora's Cars.

I was then informed by a third party that the one booking had been cancelled although I knew nothing about this and despite the fact that the hire fees had been paid in... (read more)

We have the following comments to make. First of all, we are very sorry for the communication problems that the customer had in dealing with us. We were without our telephone for a month because of the incompetence of BT and a firm called Pipex. We tried to move the BT telephone to Pipex in order to cut costs. Unfortunately, due to both companies lack of customer care and communication our telephone was cut off for one month with disastrous financial loss to us. We made 45 calls lasting 17 hours on public phone booths to get it rectified. Eventually we were reconnected and we will NEVER forget these problems.
We do not normally ever tell the customer the name of the driver because we often change drivers for many reasons.
Once again, we apologise for having no telephone which made life impossible to deal with customers.

“Throughout the entire planning process leading up to...”

Written on: 01/09/2008

Throughout the entire planning process leading up to the wedding, I had difficulty in getting my head around exactly who was driving my car, whether I had booked it or not, and whether it had been paid for. At first I was told that I had booked and confirmed a red morse Jaguar for my wedding which I chose on the basis of the colour alone, and explained that I wanted the car to make two trips from my house, first for the bridesmaids, then back for myself and my father. A few weeks before the... (read more)

“I found the Booking system for Allied Wedding Cars,...”

Written on: 07/07/2008 by Shirley McCrow (1 review written)

I found the Booking system for Allied Wedding Cars, Hertfordshire to be very inefficient and confirmation documents illegible. We continually had to remind them that we had paid deposits for two cars. They said it was because they had too many customers with similar names. The phone numbers given for the two drivers were unobtainable when we tried to call them. We eventually obtained a mobile number for one driver the day before the wedding by our own detective work. He said he did not... (read more)

Applejack's Response to Shirley McCrow's Review

Written on: 22/10/2012

We are sorry to read of this complaint because there are two separate booking forms and they are filled with two different drivers not connected with each other. When a customer telephones us we need to be reminded that there are two separate cars ordered. We do not understand the customer's complaint that she constantly had to keep reminding us that there were two separate orders, because if she dealt with different members of staff each time on the telephone she must give them the full details to locate each order. She says that when she tried to contact the drivers their phones were unavailable. Does she mean that the phones were out of order or were not answered? If the latter, the reason is simple. The drivers are told not to answer their phones whilst they are driving because they risk prosecution if they are seen. We book drivers months ahead, but we do not give them all the details until a few days before the event. This is because we often change drivers at the last moment. We do not want two drivers turning up for the same booking.
We are sorry that the driver arrived late, but this can happen for many reasons. The most ususal reason is enexpected traffic jams en route which are beyond the control of the driver, particularly on motorways because of accidents. Once again, we are sorry for something beyond our control.

With regards to the non-arrival of the other care. This was due to the fact that the driver, died en route to the wedding.

As far as we care concerned there were no problems the day before for us to action to avoid a traffic jam and a death.

We understand the customer's disappointment, but such matters are totally out of our control.

It has taken four years and three months to reply to this review. Im find this hilarious.

So, my daughters driver died en route? Have they located the body yet? No wonder he couldn't answer his mobile phone. Oh well, that explains it all, how unreasonable of us to complain.

The person running that company has clearly an immense sense of humour!!
