    From 1983 comes one of the best 'feel-good' films of all time. It tells the story of a large American oil company trying to buy a length of unspoilt Scottish coast. The charcters are marvellous, subtle and wonderfully painted; the comedy is gentle; and the scenery is truly breathtaking. All this and a haunting soundtrack from Mark Knopfler too. Local hero knocks spots off anything coming from the studios now.
