I ordered some cupcakes to be delivered to my best friend as I am currently in Australia and she is in the UK. They were for her birthday on 28th April and being the other side of the world, I was fairly reliant on The Kooky Cake Company delivering them as her present. There was a hold up with the transfer of money as I was in the countryside, so the payment did not leave my account until 29th, so I could understand some delay on delivery, however, having emailed three times to see what... We ordered 500 mini logo cupcakes from The Kooky Cake Company for a company event. Kathryn was very responsive, sending over samples promptly. Delivery was also on time and the cakes were delicious! Wonderfully soft, with lovely icing topped with our logo! Everybody couldn't get enough of them, and they proved to be extremely popular at the event. I highly recommend The Kooky Cake Company to everyone, and will definitely be using them again! (read more)

Kathryn came to my house to review what I wanted, and expected, for my wedding cake. She incorporated my ideas and colour scheme wonderfully, and we had many, many compliments on the actual cake decoration, and the cake taste itself. We were thrilled to have found her - not only was she very competetively priced, friendly and efficient, she also brought a huge quantity of cake for us to try, which definitely won us over! How can a company let so many people down. I ordered a Birthday Cake for my Partner's 60th surprise party. Ordered and paid for months in advance, delivery date confirmed 2 days before event. I had 130 people turning up but NO CAKE. We were going to use the Kooky Cake company for our wedding.
After reading the shocking treatment of its customers we will be going to a company where we do not need to worry whether a cake is delivered or not.

Ordered some cakes to be delivered on 16.08.2012, to date they have still not arrived (29.08.2012) Numerous phones calls, messages left or just rings out, emails unanswered - worst customer service experienced in a long time. Currently speaking to the payment company about getting a refund as I'm not getting far with the Kooky Cake Company. Appalling - Don't touch with a barge pole - I ordered a cake for my Partner's 60th surprise party - I ordered and paid for the cake months in advance, was assured it would arrive on 08.09.12 party day! - no such luck not even a phone call only an email at midnight saying they did not know what had happened. Money was reimbursed but no telephone call of apology. Always one to forgive I gave the company a second chance to deliver another cake to the restaurant in London last night where we celebrating his actual Birthday with promises that the cake would be there - but hey NO! Never heard from today, ignoring phone calls - they shouldn't even be in business

We had a similar issue (see retirement cake review). Hope you get a refund. (Name removed) assured us that she had processed a refund but we are still waiting over a year later. We even contacted PayPal ourselves and they said there was no record of an attempted refund.

Looks like you are going to your payment company which is the best way. We were strung along for a long time by the kooky cake company.
The kooky cake company tried to say our review was not genuine but we proved it was genuine by providing the evidence. If the same thing happens to you be strong!

We ordered a cake for a retirement party requesting delivery of the cake on a Saturday afternoon in writing by email. Despite this the company tried to deliver the cake in the morning when we were not at home. The company claims that the driver tried to call us but there were no missed calls. we delivered this cake on the specified day, the customer never specified a time. When we arrived no one was in, we would not leave perishable items on the door step. The lady that ordered the cake did not answer the phone and did not call until around 7 pm when we were closed. We were left with a bespoke cake that couldn't be resold. A good will refund was given although we did not have to. It was not a fault of ours that no one was in when it was arranged.

We rang up several times in the afternoon and even sent an email at 4.57pm that day saying that we are trying to get through to you. It is not true to say we only rang up at 7pm. You said in your email to us on Sunday 10th July at 8.24am that you shut at 1pm on a Saturday and that's why you did not get our calls during the afternoon. Something isn't adding up as I believe you are open on Saturday afternoon? We did not receive any calls from yourselves as already explained.
You say that you have given a refund; again this is not true. We are still waiting for a refund after over 2 months. You even tried to claim that you sent it by Paypal but as you know we checked with Paypal and you did not issue the refund, and you are still unable to provide the confirmation email you promised to sent to us.
I continue to send you emails requesting a refund and you do not reply.
The cake was our retirement present to him and you have effectively taken that gift away as you have not given a refund. I don't know how you can do this to people; how do you expect to have a business that succeeds when you do this? You even tried to get the review above taken off the site but the evidence we provided to the website has supported the review above and so it has remained.

I bought the brownies via Keynoir. They were very good, however were poorly packaged for posting and 2 of the 4 sets of brownies were smushed so badly I could not serve them. They need to think about improving the packaging - bubble wrap to keep them from moving around the box would be a good start. (read more)

I had an absolutely terrible experience with someone at the Kooky Cake Company. She failed to deliver the cake I had ordered for my son's Christening! We were supposed to meet at the venue on the morning of the event, and she basically stood me up. I tried to get hold of her endlessly, and I'm yet to speak to her. I am just going through a very similar experience. No cakes, money taken, no contact and she is showing no signs of anything. They have no customer service at all.

I had the same bad experience. Apparently, there was an 'attempted' delivery of my Dad's retirement cake at a different time to requested ie morning instead of afternoon, when we weren't in - no note was left and no one called me. I never saw the cake because it was useless to me AFTER my Dad's retirement party. Kathryn said that the driver tried to contact me (all this via email because she wouldn't take my phone calls or pick up the phone herself), but I didn't have any calls that day and I am still trying to get back the refund which I was promised by Kathryn in writing over two months ago!
