“Kingfisher gone!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Delayed on 20/10/2012

New Delhi: Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended the flying licence of Kingfisher Airlines for failing to come up with a viable financial revival plan. The Vijay Mallya-promoted airline, which has not operated a single flight since October 1, had been asked to explain by today why its licence should not be suspended or cancelled. But its response to the show cause notice issued by the regulator was not satisfactory. The airline had asked for more time and a personal hearing, but gave no details on a financial plan or operational plans, which is what the DGCA had asked for. On Friday, the airline said it was extending its partial lockout until October 23. A statement issued later said, "The management hopes to resume operations on November 6." On Wednesday the regulator rejected Kingfisher's winter schedule and its slots will be redistributed.

written by on 26/03/2012

We were due to fly from Mumbai to LHR and they just decided to cancell flight. Then we were told that we were on our own to book another flight with another carrier. No compensation was offered. Their customer service was non existence and was very stressfull. we had to purchase another ticket at extortion cost to us, because the travel agent know we were in trouble. I ADVICE TO ANYONE DO NOT THIS COWBOY airline. They will not care about you if things go wrong........

couldnt recommend them enough previously BUT they have gone steeply downhill since 2010. Flew MUM-LHR May 2011 and had a very poor aircraft with broken bits on the seats, dirty food trays, several screens not working, a very poorly organised entertainment menu, v poor selection of inflight entertainment, no kids’ pack - only a pathetic mag but no pencils, colours or pens, very spicy kids meals (my kids are indian and are use to spicy food normally!), phone customer care were incorrect on several things (they told me I only had 23kg weight allowance when it was actually 28kg, told me golf kit would only count as 6kg towards my checked in weight and would only have to pay excess if exceeded my weight allowance - not true, had to pay excess) and unhelpful.

“I am sorry to say that i have had one of the worst...”

written by on 02/03/2011

I am sorry to say that i have had one of the worst experience. This was my third trip that i have had with this airline and you can easily see the standards that has dropped down to the standard that was when it initially started. Food was rubbish, Menu said one thing and the serving was totally different. The Air-hostesses were rubbish and completely in-experienced and the check in staff didn't understand what the passenger wanted. All i wanted was a window seat for my 12 year old, even after explaining they didn't give it to us nor did they bother to explain or inform us, in fact on our return trip we were given tail end seats that was very bad and very stupid although we were the first ones to check in. Treatment towards the foreigners who were seated next to us was better then for the Indians, i would like to know why. I have vowed never to fly with Kingfisher ever again, i would prefer Jet Airways, who has kept up to their standards from Day 1. Outbound journey was horrendous, served us lamb goulash with mash potatos which had gone off. Flight was delayed in Mumbai by 4 hours to go to Goa. On the inbound they served us some refreshments just before landing to Heathrow and that upsetted my son's and my stomach, i mean what's going on on Kingfisher Airline? Definitely not a good EXPERIENCE... KINGIFISHER EXPERIENCE!!!! paid hell lot of money to travel by this airline but very very unhappy and dissatisfied..

“This was our 8th Kingfisher flight in 2 years, returns...”

★★★★☆

written by chericbaker on 08/02/2011

This was our 8th Kingfisher flight in 2 years, returns London to Bangalore (not a current route) and Mumbai plus local connecting services. The legroom is great on long haul flights, as is the food/drink provided. We particularly like having a pair of window seats on an A330 (2/4/2 seating). No chance of fat neighbours. The staff are friendly and transits in India have been handled well. The only downsides are the limited number of films we liked (eg they were the same Mumbai to LHR as on the outward journey) and the limited no. of loos in economy got sordid on one of our 4 long haul flights. But overall Kingfisher is a good choice and was also one of the cheaper options on our trips to Sri Lanka and Goa.

“I decided to go with Kingfisher airline for the first...”

written by on 07/02/2011

I decided to go with Kingfisher airline for the first time and book tickets for my mum and sister and myself. The flight went at 9.30pm last night and when the flight arrived at Delhi, there was a 2 hour delay and then to make matters worse, arrived at Amritsar airport and the baggage had not arrived!!!
The baggage went with JET airline and now the passengers have been told to contact the airline regarding the baggage tomorrow! What the hell is going on?
Even worse, my mum just went out to see if the poor driver was still waiting for them and she was shouted at by staff in a uniform, actually an uneducated villager, he told her that she could not come back in and to wait outside! These people are incapable of understanding anything. I had major problems last time at Amritsar airport. The staff really are rubbish! They need some sort of training in how not to stress people off even more than they already are with the bad service and stress. We have to work really hard to go to India, for what, to be spoken to like we are second class people. Who the hl do they think they are? What a very bad and stressful experience to have to go through. My mum was in tears and very angry at how she had been treated. She is usually a very strong woman, but to be reduced to this state by mf is inconceivable! My sister has vowed never to return to India again. What are you going to do about this situation? I want an answer and I will be taking this much further.

“We flew with Kingfisher from London Heathrow to...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by pfurn1 on 24/12/2010

We flew with Kingfisher from London Heathrow to Bangkok, with a stop in Mumbai. On teh outward journey, everything was fine and I really couldn't fault Kingfisher. The same was true of the Bangkok Mumbai flight on the return journey. Things began to go wrong for us on the long haul leg from Mumbai to London Heathrow - two rows of centre seats on the plane were without the in-flight entertainment system throughout the flight - the staff attempted to reset them several times, but they were simply broken, as I guess they probably were for the previous flight of this particular aircraft.

When the time for our main meal arrived, the staff had virtually none of the 'International' option - we were only in row 5 of Economy and they had already run out by the time they reached us. This really was poor planning as people obviously reviewed the menu and noted that the second serving on the flight only had chicken and vegetarian versions of Tikka wraps available and the Indian main meal was also a Tikka.

However, the real problems with Kingfisher began when we were diverted late in our flight to Brussels. The closure of Heathrow caused this and of course I can have no complain with that, but from the point at which we landed (Saturday evening) Kingfisher handled the situation very poorly. We sat on the plane for 2 hours with virtually no information and not so much as a sip of water - the staff who had been attentive during the flight became anonymous. Either this scenario is not covered by their training or they are not encouraged to think on their feet.

When we were eventually moved off the plane into a freezing terminal building, the flight attendants tried to stop people taking blankets and pillows from the plane - bearing in mind the conditions and the fact that we would remain their passengers until we reached Heathrow, this seemed petty in the extreme. Thankfully they had more sense than to argue with my wife when she refused to hand hers over, but other passengers we met were more compliant and ended up spending a freezing night on the floor of the terminal without even a thin airline blanket for comfort.

On leaving the plane, we then did not hear from Kingfisher for 24 hours. I acknowledge that they do not have a base in Brussels and eventually someone had to drive up from Ostend, but to leave us with no information for this prolonged period in this day and age is simply unacceptable. We were grateful for the help of the Red Cross with their blankets and water and the staff at Brussels Airport who did their best in a difficult situation. We did eventually get back to the UK, by coach via the tunnel, but not until Tuesday morning. Needless to say we have yet to see our luggage, even though we were assured these would be couriered to us as soon as the plane was able to make it back to Heathrow.

I read that Kingfisher flights between Heathrow and India returned to normal on 21st December, which would indicate that our flight returned on that day. Why then am I still without luggage on 24th December? Having called the Kingfisher Call Centre today, I am underwhelmed by their response - they simply took my details and said they would pass it on to the relevant department who would be in touch, though they could give no indication of timescales. There was no acknowledgement of the trauma we had been through or any real sense of urgency to return our luggage.

Kingfisher is cheap and fine when the going is good, but beware - you really do get what you pay for and if anything goes wrong, this is not the airline to be travelling with!

“I had a poor experience recently flying with...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 22/12/2010

I had a poor experience recently flying with Kingfisher LHR to Bangkok. Unfortunately we were affected by the snow and closure of LHR but this is an "act of God" and not my grievance. I will detail below the major issues.
Check-in:
It took an hour and 15mins to check into our flight from LHR to Mumbai. Not a very organised queue.
Food & Beverages:
On our outward journey to Mumbai our flight was at 8pm. It took the staff until after 12am to serve us our food. This was over 3hours from when they started serving. Then they did not have the choice of meal that we wanted. We thought that this was just bad look and took it for what it was. The Paneer wasn't too bad so I wasn't that annoyed. The measures of alcohol were very generous as they pour from the bottle so that is a positive.
However on our return flight again we did not get the choice of meal that we requested. We were in the second row of the back economy cabin (row 24) and they did not have our choice. How can an airline organise the food so badly. I ended up having some rice (on a 10hr flight). So if you don't like Indian food (which I do) they bulk up before you go...
Staff:
Kingfisher and their chairman pride themselves on their staff. He tells you he wants you to feel like he is inviting you into his home and we're like family etc. He hand picks all his staff etc etc... After 4.5 hours on the run way in Brussels airport I certainly did not feel like a welcome guest. We were not offered any beverages while we were on the plane - not even water. We had to walk to the back of the aircraft were all the staff were sitting around eating peanuts. (we weren't offered the peanuts either). Then as we left the aircraft we were told to leave the pillows and blankets behind. I can guarantee that the staff did not spend the night on the floor in Brussels airport minus a blanket.

Entertainment:
There was a fairly good selection of Hollywood films but they were the same out and on the return. The screen on some of the seats were broken but I was one of the lucky ones from that perspective.

Handling of the diversion situation:
Needless to say Kingfisher did not handle the diversion situation very well. We did not meet a representative from Kingfisher until 24hours after we diverted. We had to sleep on the floor in Brussels airport on the first night and it wasn't until 6pm on the second night that we were put into a hotel. We fared better than some passengers as we didn't have to worry about nappies / formula / sterilisation equipment. Then there was no clear information as to how, when and if we were going to get back to the UK. Eventually we were put on a bus (minus food & water) for 8 hours - to be honest I was delighted to get back in the end but we are now minus luggage.

Brussels Airport & Red Cross
The Red cross in Belgium should receive a large donation from Kingfisher. They looked after us so well during the 3 days. Brussels airport also did very well under the circumstances. Thank you to everyone who helped us out.
In summary don't fly with Kingfisher if you can avoid it. They are part of the Oneworld alliance but they did not treat their customers like the likes of British Airways. They have a lot of work to do really.

The staff very rude, not helpfull for even elderly people. Food quality was very poor.I opted for Indian meal which was very watery at the base but the desert was good. Although I asked about the watery rice they didnt provide a substitue for the same which was disgraceful. I expected a good service as its classed as five star but its not a five star in my eyes.

Horrbile experience

I travelled from Delhi to London by IT 0001 on 17th sept 2010. This has been one of my worst air travel experiences.

The staff on board was arrogant and rude. My personal entertainment system did not work through out the 9:30 hrs journey and they were unwilling to help me.

I asked 3 times for the complaints book but they refused to get it.

Do we pay for this type of service!!!

“In-flight entertainment was quite poor. The selection...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 22/07/2010

In-flight entertainment was quite poor. The selection of western films was limited to mostly old films. Lots of Bollywood films. Each passenger has a touch screen. Most of the screens have damaged areas that do not fully respond to any touch, so I could not adjust sound, or change the channel. Asking a member of staff didn't lead to anything.

Another passenger had a screen that did not work at all. When she asked the flight attendant to assist, the attendant did not offer any solution, and just said 'sorry'. The flight attendant did not offer to move this passenger elsewhere.

Furthermore, me and my friend have been travelling with Kingfisher Airlines from London to Bangkok via Mumbai. Even though we pre-booked our seats online, the lady at the check-in in Heathrow changed the seats, and had no idea that we had pre-selected our seats online.

Also, during both of our flights they ran out any food options but one (it was a western meat meal option on the first flight, and some vegetarian option on the second flight). The fact that this happened to us on both sequential flights has really upset us (I was travelling with a friend).

I also approached the Kingfisher Airlines staff in Heathrow to find out if I can purchase alcohol at the Heathow's dutyfree and if I would be able to transit with it through the Mumbai airport. I was reassured by the two people that it would be absolutely ok if a bottle is placed in a sealed clear duty-free bag displaying the receipt. However, when we got to Mumbai, the customs officers asked to give the bottle up. I approached the Kingfisher Airlines representative to ask if I could check in this bottle of alcohol, but the representative just told me there was nothing he could do (An AirIndia representative however told me that they were offering their customers to check these bottles for them).

The transit through the Mumbai airport is some unpleasant experience. Not only they seized an expensive bottle of alcohol, but the whole place seems extremely dodgy and unfriendly.

Overall, I have been really disappointed with the experience of flying with the Kingfisher airlines. I tried to contact their customer service through their website, but once you fill in the fields and click the submit button, you get a message saying that the page does not exist. Great. Finally, I managed to submit it to some other department, got an email about 4 weeks ago that they would look into my complaints, but I still have not heard a single word from them.

How this company managed to get the right to be called a 5* airline, I cannot imagine. I have previously flown with other airlines such as the Singapore Airlines, and these are two worlds apart.

“This year I travelled with my two daughters to India...”

★★★★★

written by on 12/07/2010

This year I travelled with my two daughters to India for their summer holidays, and everything in my first experience with Kingfisher Airlines was perfectly satisfactory.

I decided that I would do an online check-in, and unlike other airlines that I have experienced, the check-in was smooth and easy to follow, and only took 15 minutes. In addition I was able to select seats for myself and children - an added bonus.

At the airport, dropping off baggage was quick and easy, because there was a separate queue for those of us whao had checked-in online already. This was brilliant as I was able to pass security, with sufficient time to spend in duty-free.

Boarding the plane was fantastic, because they acknowledged those who had children such as myself, and we were give priority to board the plane first and settle down. This is much easier than other flights I have been on, as my children and I were not pushing and huslting to find a seat.

The flight itself was a night-flight, so soon after take-off we were give our dinner, and surprisingly the vegetarian option was actually edible, and delicious as far as airline foods go! In flight entertaiment was simply outstanding, with a great variety for both adults and children. There was a good selection of music as well, which was much appreciated by my eldest duaghter who is thirteen.

At Mumbai airport we were continually treated like VIPs, and attendants made sure we were OK right up until we left the airport.
I would definitely recommend this over all the other airlines - Jet Airways, British Airways, Air India and Virgin Atlanti, as all of them are not even in the same league as Kingfisher Ailines.

I had to visit Bangalore for a business deal and was looking for the best deal in order to get the best services in the most affordable price. I was browsing through the internet for the same while I came across cheapairticketsindia.com and I must say they are simply awesome. I got one of the most reasonable ticket through them and board the flight of kingfisher airlines. The airline service was also at par. They also helped me with other information related with my journey like weather update, airline timetable and so on. I would always recommend this website to my relatives and my friends or anybody who wants a hassle-free travel in the budget.
