Good Points: Good price. Relative small size.
Bad Points: The badly designed receptacle. Noise.
General comments: Gaggia do not produce tacky, poor-spec equipment and the Macinacaffe MM highlights this fact nicely. This, shall we say, "intermediate" grinder can grind fine enough for espresso, and just about course enough for cafetiere. A *huge* step up from its little brother, the ML, the MM gives a uniform grind whilst preserving the oils, most of which end up spattered across the walls of the collection hopper.
One annoying factor is the poor design of the collection hopper. It has some very thin, near impossible to reach places. Ground coffee will gather here which a scoop will not be able to dig out. Shaking the hopper around helps, but if your beans are particularly oily, then the grounds might as well be glued in there. Gaggia should have thought of this before going into mass production.
However, for those who require a good all-rounder in the grinding department, without feeling the need to splash out on the MDF, the MM is a classy product that will serve you well.
