    Good Points: none

Bad Points: not giving refunds on the remainder of a unused policy.

General comments: I just cancelled an AIG Homeowners Insurance policy about half way through a year and was told that there was no refund due on the remaining 6 months because it was entirely eaten up by the cancellation charge, which is pretty poor in my opinion. I wouldn't use or recommend them again.

AIG give the impression of being a large insurance company that could improve a lot. They are very efficent in the claims denial department. I was hit with large snow storm that damaged my flat roof. The experts that Homesite hired to evaluate the damage concluded that my roof was not built to withstand this large storm so it must be workmanship. The claim was denied and I have replaced my roof at my own cost. AIG are not the best, there certaintly must be better companies than these guys.

I spoke with AIG and received a quote that I then chose to cancel, before the date the insurance was due to start. However as I had given my card details they still took the full amount from my account. Once I realised that they had done this I rang to cancel, only to be charge over £40 (around 25% of the total amount) to cancel.
