    Good Points: Chopping shredding mechanism. Clog free feed hooper, and gravity feed.


    Bad Points: Height of feed hopper makes machine slightly top heavy and unstable on sloping or uneven ground.


    General comments: Purchased the Viking GE250 Electric Garden Shredder lat week after many years of stuggling with a cheaper shredder which was frankly rubbish. I really wanted a petrol shredder for higher throughput and better shredding performance but wasconvinced and impressed by the salesman's explanation and demonstration of the Viking machine.

    Having used this machine I am very impressed. The chopping mechanism has a cross cut as well as a chopping action resiulting in small chippings which will compost well.

    I also like the feed hopper which although tall, is a straight tube with parrallel walls rather than the usual tapered walls. This means that the material falls though easily onto the chopping mechanism by gravity, without bunching up and clogging the hopper.

    Another good feature, is that when it does eventually jam. Ususally because i get carried away with how easy it is to use & feed. It is very quick simple to open the machine, giving good access to the chopping mechanism or the feed hopper to clean them.

    Overall very impressed so far. I think it's a little pricey for an electric shredder but in my view worth it. And looks like the machine should last well.
