Good Points: Built-in transducer with pre-amp/tuner.Pre-amp is four-band EQ [lo-, mid-, hi-, and presence/contour] and gain.Cosmetics: Gloss finish [I hate satin finishes] Slotted diamond/snowflake fretboard inlayMassive/thick neck [more stable than a thin neck]--a necessity for a 12-stringWell constructed. Neat glue joins. No evidence of sloppy workmansip.Non-cutaway dreadnaught body--I'm not fond of cutaways either.

    Bad Points: None

General comments: I purchased the Fender CD-160E-12 a little over 2 years ago. I've been playing 12-string for almost 35 years. This one replaced a Dean Tradition S12 I'd had for five years that was a nightmare--every time I changed strings the neck required a truss rod adjustment.I have never had any problems with the Fender. When I purchased this, the store had in stock comparably priced 12-strings from Ibanez, Alvarez, and Samick. I also compared it against a Yamaha from another shop. This was the best sounding one hands-down. The plus was that this one was an acoustic-electric while none of the others were.Since then, I recently had the opportunity to play a Guild GAD212 for comparison. This one beat the more expensive Guild--which sounded dead--like playing a 12-string ukulele--even with new strings on it.I also played another CD160E-12 the store had in stock to see if the Fenders had any consistency in sound between two guitars of the same model. I am pleased to report that while sounding somewhat different due to some older strings--the one in the store still had a rich, full, ringing quality I consider essential in a 12-string.

Got one of these for a present and did not know it was coming. Have many six string guitars and acoustics are my favourite. This one is something else and adds the challenge of the 12 string set up. However with built in tuner it makes setting up easy and this instrument is good enough for the Pro's so if you fancy an extra challenge to your playing get one of these. It also has a built in pre amp for stage amplification use. What more do you need.
