Virgin money is the worst bank ever after sending in pension documents signed and dated by a viable post office person they decided that wasn't good enough as my person hadn't wrote post office on forms although She had provided contact details etc so I told them where to stick their pension all they were trying to verify is I wasn't some foreigner not paying tax and residing at the address stated what a joke hopefully I change jobs soon to be offered a decent pension scheme. Totally disorganised! I have withdrawn all my savings and would recommend others to do the same. The online account system is a disgrace. Customer services is just a name only, the staff have not got a clue! My online account asked me for the same security questions each time i logged in! Dont waste your time or money. (read more)

It's just impossible to contact Virgin on their webpage. I'm not a customer - nor would I be - my mother is having terrible trouble with her cable phone service. But I'm receiving bills for someone who does not even live here. I keep sending them back "no such person here" but still they send them. So now I'm trying to contact them online to stop them. Haven't got the time to waste in a phone queue. And like I say, the "contact us" screen doesn't work. Oh well, let them come round and find... (read more)

The Virgin Money website is really frustrating - its like not being able to get into the bank because you can't open the door! I type in my password to login, click 'sign on' and nothing happens! I keep trying and still nothing happens. Its really bad not to be able to access your online banking for no apparent reason. This has happened to me three times now. Would not recommend Virgin Money for this reason. (read more)

I signed up to this in good faith with an offer of a substantial chunk of cashback after 6 months. More than a year later I am still waiting and find that I'm not alone. If they can't be trusted to pay out what they owe I can't imagine why anyone would want to invest or bank with them. (read more)

I paid the full amount on-line but the payment was delayed 1 day. The late payment fee and interest accumulated to £39 and finally received a letter in the post. I used the on-line form to ask about this and the reply was that I should pay it off first to stop it and call the customer service for a refund. So I did. Then got a very loud chavette talking non-stop, insisting no one sent such a message. She kept accusing me for telling a lie, not checking the date the payment would be... (read more)

You phone a paid-for 0845 number and wait half an hour for an answer, listening to awful music which is interrupted every few seconds by a voice telling you how busy they are. Eventually someone answers and treats you with incredible rudeness and disdain. She as good as called me a liar because the information I provided - which is the only info I have and is printed on a letter from Virgin - apparently does not match the info she has in front of her. I have got to phone back and answer... (read more)

Do not use this if you are wanting to take out a mortgage. They arranged a mortgage with us three months ago. We are now at the stage of completion and they have withdrawn the offer realising they had not read the details well enough- we have had to start the process all over again with another company putting our purchase at risk. In my business, if I was this incompetent at my job I would be fired. There is simply no excuse for this; they do not deserve any stars. (read more)

I have been with Northern Rock forever and waited patiently for online banking. Then virgin took over. Always happy with everything but recently I locked myself out of my debit card and needed a new pin I am onto my 3 pin as you couldn't even read the others. They said it was change of printers well my God change your supplier ASAP! Hopefully my 3rd pin will be ok this has gone on forever now! Month and a bit! I used the Open Market Option to get my annuity from another provider, and duly checked with Virgin if I needed to complete any forms. Clear answer was "No, it is all automated once the annuity provider contacts us". Rubbish. Virgin simply put every obstacle in the way to stop the money going out (£200,000) and I can only assume it is because I have not picked their "chosen provider". At the time of writung, after complaints, calls end aggravation I still do not even have the first form... (read more)

I opened an internet ISA with these clowns at the princly sum of 2.88% (woohoo) and that was quick and easy enough. Sure enough putting money in is all well and lovely too and its given me some interest, however... When I actually came to close the ISA this week the brown stuff hit the fan. It turned out I couldn't actually close it online like the options say you can, because they have a bug which requires you to do it over the phone. Now bearing in mind I want to purchase a car on... I write to warn others of getting involved with Virgin Money. In Dec 2011, I took out a Virgin Money Credit Card, it was the 0% account on balance transfers, perfect for my particular situation at the time. Despite having set up my direct debit, I was one-day late. That's right, just one day. However, it wasn't until Dec 2012 (when I received my annual statement) that I saw I had had the 0% offer withdrawn, due to being one day late. The cost? Virgin charged me £1,339.94 and despite... I opened a bond account, did everything necessary, sent through a cheque as instructed. Waited, and waited, -- and received the cheque back: 'bond closed; no more investment' So I have lost interest as the funds waited for Virgin to present my cheque. And after bond interest rates have plumetted over the last month (and I now have to start over with a bond), I have lost out on a decent rate of interest. -- Also on phone calls. Plus frustration and annoyance. Never again with Virgin. (read more)

I recently got a virgin credit card for balance transfers. They encouraged me to keep it paperless, so I did. I paid regularly, the minimum payments were £45 a month, I was paying £115. Next thing I know I am being charged late payment fee's, which then means interest. I missed the date by 1 day, and it was because Virgin moved the date, each month it came forward 1 day until I missed it. Now thanks to late payment fee's and interest I owe more now than when I transferred!! 10months... (read more)

Virgin ONE ACCOUNT is pants. They refused me and my husband a mortgage and have no understanding why. We were putting a 90k deposit down and we both earn over 45k each. So whats teh problem? They first said it was to do with our credit reports... they simply said check the reports. We did that straight after the call amd guess what our scores were extremely high and it was perfect and clean!! So naturally i called them back and then they put me on hold for 5 minutes and came back and said... (read more)

Virgin Money prepaid Mastercard - an excellent way to fund offspring when they are traveling globally.

Virgin Money credit card - DO NOT USE! Customer service is fine and opening account incredibly easy but beware the slick sales patter. I normally run the house on a credit card that we clear every month - previous card was sold on several times via goldfish and MBNA to Barclaycard and was fed up with their service, constant calls and poor unknowledgeable Indian call centre.
Virgin Money was therefore refreshing and I assumed very customer centric. The deal offered for balance transfers... (read more)

I am very disappointed with Virgin - very good brand name - but staff on t credit card helpline not very helpful or interested. A good deal the 16 month free interest on balance transfers, but you need to be careful if you have the 3 month purchase deal, cos any purchases made after this, even if you pay the extra purchases amounts off straight away, the payment does not go against the purchases but off the balance transfer figure, so you get charged interest on purchases after the free... Once you talk to an individual at Virgin Money they are sensible and polite- but in the last three months each statement has been problematic. Today- 30-6-09 I have now been waiting- without ever being answered- for 2 hours and 23 minutes on the phone. The only choice given on the phone menu to speak to anyone is "if you are having financial problems- a hubristic attitude suggesting that the only reason for needing to contact them is that you cannot pay- as opposed to them continually... It's almost 3 years since I got my Virgin Credit Card and it's the best thing to happen to me financially! Application process was smooth and I got my card with a healthy limit and 10.9% APR (on of the lowest in the market then). Interest did go to 15.9% after about a year but you'd hardly get lower than that anywhere else.
The on-line account management is very convenient and efficient. I've used it to request limit increase on three occasions and gotten decision quickly.
Their balance... (read more)
