“Sound mortgage lender”

I am a buy to let investor and have used Virgin Money mortgages directly a couple of times now. The best thing about them is the staff are polite and knowledgeable. They do have tight criteria - but if you or your property doesn't fit, they will say. So I find them easy to simply ring and ask info. The staff also clearly have good notes on their system as you only have to give your mortgage or application number and they immediately have all info to hand. I invested 15,240 GBP into a Virgin ISA in April 2015. Due to an administration issue regarding my maiden name verses my married name Virgin are still holding my cash nearly a year later. Virgin offer a good ISA cash rate at the moment. Opening an account and transferring other ISAs was fairly straight forward. So we have a BTL mortgage which needed to be re done, decided to try VM.... biggggggg mistake!!! Used their solicitors, who did nothing! But despite wanting over £1000 from us, Virgin money blames me for the mortgage not being registered within their time frame. This is despite me telling the branch that the solicitors were being a problem. 2 complaints and nothing sorted. “staff stole my money from my virgin money prepaid card.”

“Discrimination at Virgin Money when opening a bank account”

I was denied a Savers account despite having others accounts in other banks, Uk National since birth, 30 years teaching and have never been declined for any thing. When asked why, they opened the account and then closed it, they where unwilling to explain their actions. “Unable to even close an account”

I've spend the last 8 months trying to close my credit card with them and get the outstanding credit balance refunded. Every time I call they have an excuse why they are unable to do it and make a promise that it will be sorted soon. There has been no transactions on the card for 10 months and the credit balance which they owe me hasn't changed either. So far, I had no luck and it doesn't seem like complaining helps either. Virgin money have managed my ISA for the past 3 years & they have consistently provided me with the best interest rate in comparison to all other banks. I use online banking which I've always found very safe (in terms of account security) & user friendly. They do not manage your account. They do not use the phone, they do not email you. If there is a problem they write to you and if the letter gets lost in the post (tough). If you contact customer service they talk over you. I think you're exagerating a bit, I mean they DO close your account and steal all your money in it, but other than that Virgin Money is offer a fantastic and brilliant service

Virgin offer rubbish rates rubbish service useless foreign customer service probably paid peanuts so the man can make keep more profits Virgin and NOT interested one bit in customers (probably due to low wages they receive on commission probably for trying to rip you off .

I did bank transfer in error to my capital one account. The money have been transferred back to Virgin but they gone missing and now one from Virgin could find them! Every time I had to explain the whole situation even when I as transferred to different department during the same phone call! “Frustrations galore”

I'm not sure where to begin. The opening process was challenging, but I thought at least they take security seriously. Unfortunately their processes don't seem to extend to carrying out customer instructions or, indeed, any instructions. My latest challenge has been the unauthorised closure of my ISA, on the basis that I had sent a letter with the word "closed" in it. I completely agree.

Sent three instructions:

1/ needed a change of address. Ok, accept that and they wrote to me.
2/ second was returned from Barclays. No explanation! My problem?
3/ knowing that I could not give instructions by phone or email I sent an email to customer service asking which is the best approach to increase the amount to be transferred to x amount. No contact they just did it? I was seeking information and confirmation about a horrible situation. I didn't really mind because it solved a problem, but I then had an hour and twenty minutes involved in a very stressful conversation just trying to understand why it had suddenly happened and what were the processes involved. Surely they could have called me and said sorry, but this is what we can do for you. Would you like us to do that or not. It could have been a positive outcome to a horrible situation!
Horrible: I supported Branson's brand because it is British but at the end of the day it turned into a bit of a pickle! Avoid like Ebola!

Virgin money is the worst bank ever after sending in pension documents signed and dated by a viable post office person they decided that wasn't good enough as my person hadn't wrote post office on forms although She had provided contact details etc so I told them where to stick their pension all they were trying to verify is I wasn't some foreigner not paying tax and residing at the address stated what a joke hopefully I change jobs soon to be offered a decent pension scheme… Read Full Review

Totally disorganised! I have withdrawn all my savings and would recommend others to do the same. The online account system is a disgrace.
