I recharged day before yesterday and yesterday I noticed that the balance is zero. When I checked the call details, there is a huge number of calls from my account to various number in Philippines. Fortunately I didn't opt for Auto-recharge in my account settings. I tried to put a complaint on this to investigate who made all these calls. I will never recommend this service they over charge me per min from 8 cent (EU)to 16 cent and also got charge for min did not go thru and i can t get hold of anybody no phone to contact to make my complain no email to send ... No customers service . (read more)

For several years (7+) I have been using (now "trying to use") VoipDiscount for calls to landline phones. The rates are very low (you pay about €12 and get 120 days of free landline calls - to the countries I call), but for years the terrible quality makes the service nearly useless. I have been using it for several years without major problems. But recently they "quietly" raised the rate substantially without announcement. Also, calls that should be free were cut short ofter for the so-called "fair user policy exceeded." Their customer service is a joke, never reply to my inquiries and complaints. they don't even have a customer service phone number or email that one can reach. I'm definitely leaving it. they over charge and is noting like it is mentioned in their adverts . when i checked my bank statement i was charged 10 £ plus over seas transaction charges .and i was credited with only 10 € thats an extra two pounds which i cannot use . (read more)

since last 15 days i am using voip calls, and not able to make a single call with satisfaction. Every time in every call it is disconnecting at least 5 times in a minutes. I informed customer care, but no response. I am using high speed internet and i am getting all other internet site suddently, except voip discount. if you start use voip discount to call, sure you will become mad soon so my dear friends... please avoid using this.. why are u becoming mad after paying money i am writing... The website claims free calls to certain destinations of 300 minutes per week as defined by their fair usage policy. I used the service for 60 minutes with a variety of calls and started being charged. I waited 6 days in case the 300 minutes were apportioned day by day however I was still charged. In my account I have 114 free days of calls however I am being charged for every call. Very misleading statements on their website - beware. (read more)

The call rates are quite attractive, but beware, there are hidden cost. It says customers can make phone calls up to 300 mins a week. It is never the case because they have this so-called 'fair use policy' for making many calls (never clear how many) and lengthy calls (again, not clear how long). So basically you end up getting charged for going over your weekly allowance. Also, their software often clashes or the phone line cut off, so you end up making many calls, and guess what you will... Not sure why anyone would bother with these high-priced scammers who either take your money and give nothing in return or have pathetic customer service. Or, there may be problems making payments. None of these apply to the following three. Their rates are fabulous, have fabulous customer service, and dependable service.
I have dealt with all three who are top-notch, unlike those fly-by-night losers:
Nymgo, Localphone and Pinless World.
All three are reputable with very low rates.

I lost outgoing sound. For help I spent hours trying to find a contactable address or email but like many of these larger companies they hide from customer once they have your money! The website HAS a box offering customer service but try using it!!!? Click, and it just glares at you!
They have just received a new payment but with no sound I am deprived of the service. Maybe they should be aware of the Trade Descriptions Act?

I have used VOIP Discount via laptop client, Nokia N95 8GB native SIP client, and now Google Nexus One with Sipdroid SIP client. All via WiFi and from 10 to 15 different countries.
Voice clarity is normally excellent and degradation tends to be a result of WiFi signal quality not the VOIP service.
The free days after Top Up, along with always free destinations make this an incredible value. I travel 85%+ for my work and VOIP discount allows me to affordably stay in touch for work,... (read more)

I used voipdiscount.com and was satisfied until suddenly they wouldn't accept my visa card- no reason why and it works everywhere else. I then did a bank transfer and when not credited despite giving ref numbers to bank debit/showing debit from bank account plus emailing voip customer services 3 times-still no reply
Would recommend to no-one now.
Now believe they set it up to fail so you have to eventually try bank transfer -then not credited. (read more)

VOIP Discount (Betamax) is terrible to deal with. Ease of use and clarity are good. But they won't accept credit cards from the USA. I sent a bank wire transfer, which they claimed was never deposited to their account. I sent them proof my bank had wired the money correctly, and even verified that their bank (Commerzbank in Germany) had received the money and it was correctly deposited. You need to know how sip works, though VOIP Discount also have local numbers now.
Having SIP is advantage for me - can setup my phone for to use it which is convenient.
You may find slightly cheaper calls to the particular destination from other Betamax company, that's why only 4 stars. And they also removed Russia from free destination, leaving only two main cities there free. What a pity.

I at first thought i was thrilled with voipdiscount (BETAMAX) but in order to pay (Add more credits to my account) you MUST own a CELL PHONE in order todo so otherwise you must use bank transfer or western union.
If you mess up some how with the money transfer as another reviewer mentioned you lose your money and it's tough luck they refuse to refund you.
The customer service is by far the WORST i've ever seen and i thought DELL was bad. They offer cheap service but if you need help or an... (read more)

VoipDiscount took my money
I guess this is one way to finance their call rates.
I registered to their site and transfered credit to a Thai bank account they instructed me to. I used the Internet bank to do the transfer. VoipDiscount promised that my credit will be increased automatically if I use a certain transaction reference id and so I did.
They did not increase my credit even though I waited several weeks. I went to my bank and asked for a receipt, but the bank couldn't give me one... (read more)

I have been using VOIP Discount for 2 years and have nothing bad to say about it. The service works perfectly and I am able to make free calls to many places mainly using it for Canada to Japan. I highly recommend. (read more)

Easy to setup my ip phone with voip discount, free 120 days to large number of countries after you have topped up your account by 10 euro's. Good call clarity as good as pstn. no voipin numbers for uk yet so we have to use another provider for this.
when you topup using 10 euros you have to pay vat and admin charge on this and in total it cost £10.20 for 10 euros worth of calls and 120 free days. (read more)

Both myself and my friend have used VOIP Discount extensively for over 18 months to replace our Virgin Media phone service. Another friend is also with them on my recommendation, were both saving a fortune.
