Bought this from B&Q based on the ability to paint my railings 4 times faster as claimed on the box. Not true - extremely slow going. After a while it then begins to drip blobs of paint from the gun onto the ground and shoots fine jets of paint causing streaky markings not microscopic droplets. The ability for 1 can of paint to cover 12m of railings 1 m high is a complete myth. Eats batteries. In short - complete rubbish. Don't waste your time. This product is a blatant breach of the trade descriptions act.

I bought this machine with high hopes. It is a good idea but it just doesn't work. It eats batteries at an incredible rate, and half of the paint cans I bought were faulty. It doesn't spray the back of the fence and does a poor job on the front. Back to the paint brush I'm afraid

Purchased the metalmaster as we have a large expanse of railings around our property. Took the 1st back as we thought the item was faulty. Making the right noise however not despencing the paint. Tried the other unit, same issue..don't buy this item!

The Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun is absolute rubbish - do not even consider buying one. I wasted a complete day with the thing and did not manage to spray any paint at all. The helpline said faulty canisters. I said something else! Took it all back to Focus and got my money back. I recommend a brush.

Was really looking forward to an easy spray job using the Hammerite Metalmaster. Our large gates in marine environment need frequent painting and the video made it look so easy. Carefully prepped, loaded everything up according to instructions and ..... nothing. Went through the troubleshooting. Reloaded canister having shaken it extra vigorously for twice recommended time. It made an encouraging sound, but no paint came out. Tried second canister: same result. Hubbie tried. Neighbour tried. Pro ...

I agree with the previous negative reviews - this product simply does not work as it says on the box. What a disappointment - such a good idea. I had faulty cannisters with my Hammerite Metalmaster paint gun too.

I am sorry but the Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun to me is a load of rubbish. You do not get a fine mist of paint emanating from the gun and clinging to the metal work. What you get are a number of a feeble streams of paint going in the general direction of your metal work. It drips all over the place and when you come to clean it up with universal cleaning solvent the plastic that the gun is made of starts to melt!!!

I wasted an afternoon on this Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun and ended up with paint all over me and streaks and bare patches on the gates. I spent ages preparing them, followed the instructions to the letter. First the batteries supplied were dead - inserted new ones. Aha! LED light on and machine working. Inserted first can of paint having shaken it as per instructions - which did not work - no paint even in the nozzle - but plenty of paint in the can. Second can inserted - work ...

Wish I had read these reports before buying, Bought a Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun from B&Q, It did not work, took it back and the staff there could not get it to work and new nothing about them, Tried a new one off the shelf and that did'nt work either. All it did was cover us in paint and cost me a wasted afternoon plus 40 miles traveling. Finished up with my money back and brush painting the railings and gates.
Save your money and buy a brush as this thing is a waste of money ...

The Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun is absolute rubbish. 2 out of 5 canisters didn't work. Painting is sloooow and finish poor. If you don't want to use a brush, buy an aerosol can (I did). It's 3 times faster and cheaper.Mine's going on ebay....

The first tin did not work at all. An hour of driving etc later the new tin started fine then I noticed paint all over my hands and clothes. I spray professionally and I have to say this is the worst gimmick I have seen. I took the lot back to the shop and they just looked at me totally covered in paint and gave me a refund with profuse apologises. I could write more but the message is plain - use a paint brush or a proper spray system.

Having read the negative reviews of the Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic on this website I procrastinated about purchasing the spray gun for several months. In the end I decided the alternative of hand painting was a less desirable option.
I followed the instructions to the letter. The spray gun worked a treat. It did everything that it said it would in the sales blurb. I painted two coats to approximately 20m of railings in two hours. I gave a third coat the second day, picking up the a ...

I bought the Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun having seen the advertisements which show railings being painted in no time. Once I had give up with the MetalMaster and gone back to an old fashioned brush I reckon it took me less than half the time and a quarter of the cost.

I bought the Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun to spray my motorcycle frame. Which i had painstakingly stripped to bare metal over many days, then after seeing advert for metal master on tv, though that was a good idea and spent £40 on the device and £14 for a can of spray. Unusually for me i read the instructions and did everything as they said, even warming the can of spray for a couple of hours. But might as well have not bothered. As already mentioned previously the ...

Very dissapointed in this Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun. I am a full time painter and thought this would save me time. So with the cannisters it cost me £70 quid inc. gun. After being so frustated i went back to shop and got a tin for £10 and brushed it on. It's not even quick.

I think the Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun is a nice innovation. I found that it got the job done fast and I am pleased with the results. It is a tad heavy which is possibly the only bad point on this. It gets 8 out of 10 for me overall and I do recommend this.

Very attractive but in my experience it's a gimmick! The paint was very expensive, it didn't wrap around flat surfaces. The trigger was too hard to keep pressed down, the gun was too heavy to work with, the paint went everywhere! Hammerite... The Metalmaster as far as I'm concerned is just an attractive toy!

Should have used conventional paint and brush instead of the Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun. Waste of £30 for device and 2 x £15 for paint and job still not finished. Does not paint rear of railings properly, as claimed. 1 faulty can out of 3 (replaced by Focus). Does not deal well with rough spots on railings, e.g. welds. Very slow and trigger hard to hold for long periods.

Overall I think it better than using a brush on the wrought iron fencing but expensive.

The special paint cylinders for this Hammerite Metalmaster Electrostatic Paint Gun are expensive, the paint goes everywhere including the arm holding the gun and the finish is mediocre to say the least. I wish I hadn't bought it and that I had painted my railings with a conventional brush and paint.
