    This company is a complete con, they charged me £109 for a microscopic chip on the bumper which would not even show up on the photographs that I took. I am trying to get my money back via my credit card company. also the kiosk is outdoors in the blazing sun in a not very well directed carpark rather than a proper kiosk in the usual car rental area. I have been going to algarve for 30 years and never had a problem before with any other company.

    Do not use this company. We booked through Economy Car Rental and were provided with the incorrect car (Class C1 Vs Class D). Be very carefull as to "damage" reports. Take pictures on collection as they will "invent damage" that was allready present when the car was collected. I have been billed Eu 225 for a small mark on the bonnet that was present but not marked on the damage report. Low cost but fradulent. Do not use.

    "Out of hours charge" 15Euros both at pick up and return which "had" to be paid in cash. No mention of this on rental voucher. Air Auto rep insisted that this was displayed on website which it is on Air Auto website but my contract was with Car Trawler. With 2 tired kids and stressed wife I wasn't going to dig my heals in.     Booked the car via CarTrawler website, usually use Europcar, who are excellent, but chose this option as it was slightly cheaper. Upon arrival they tried to charge a lot of extras. Had to call CarTrawler, their rep had to speak to re AirAuto Rep, who was loud and abusive, and agreed to more or less the original quote. But when we wanted the keys, the extras were added again. No other choice on a Saturday night at Faro Airport.

    We booked via Economy Car Hire and went for Air Auto on total price, including complete insurance and damage waivers etc. We usually go with Europcar, who are excellent, but a mile or two outside the airport - although they provide an excellent bus service.

    hired car for i week and returned it in what i thought was same condition as i got it. It was inspected in great detail for damage and i was very surprised when he pointed out a small scratch mark.I was charged 125 euro.I defenitely had no contact or scrape with anything whilst it was in my possession - either it was caused when vehicle was parked or it was there before i collected it from Air Auto and had not noticed it.Very impotant to do a thorough inspection before taking out car at commence ...

    Was slightly worried about Air Auto Faro, after reading negative reviews, so I thought I would detail my experience.
    Completed paperwork, picked car (Ford Transit Van) up without a problem, all the scratches were marked on the damage report, petrol was correctly marked as 3/8ths. Returning the vehicle was very quick, credit card stub returned after quick inspection.
    Would definately use again.

    had to pay 15 euro fine for picking Air Auto Portugal car up late 3 mins? very lax and half assed rep obviously didnt want to be there

    Check your car thoroughly before driving off! If you have a digital camera, I'd strongly recommend taking photos of everything. Air Auto Portugal tried to charge us 20 Euro for an aerial that was missing when we collected the car. Once we'd finally finished the battle, we then had to insist before having the credit card docket returned and a signature to say that it had been properly returned.
    Customer service and attitude appalling.

    Air Auto Booking April 2009, Waited 75 minutes to get a P107 looked great except two chunks missing out of near side front tyre, declined this car to be given an "upgrade" to a Yaris with two bald front tyres, which was also declined, but was told by the rep that "tyres like this are acceptable to the Police in Portugal, no probelms". Ended up with a Fiesta, which albeit had seen better days did have 4 good tyres and did appear to be roadworthy at least.

    First car deom Air Auto Portugal, with two chunks of rubber missing out of the near side tyre wall, declined. Second car, Yaris, with two front bald tyres, delcined. Third car Fiesta, with four good tyres, but was a total shed with regard to high mileage and bodywork. Took 3rd car as we had now been haggling over unroadworthy cars for 75 minutes.

    Air Auto Portugal collected car with no problems, Rep on the desk was pleasent and helpfull. The desk was convenient. AirAuto had the most people collecting cars.
    Car was a P107, fine, no problems.
    Drop off was quick and easy.

    I will book again with this company next time we are out in Faro.

    As per previous poster, long queues, and to be presented with a car that was of poor quality, an old model, and with terrible customer service, I would recommend that one seriously considers going elsewhere. There are many many other car hire companies operating in the area.Trust me, based on my experience, I did look elsewhere during my stay on the basis that I will be back in Faro and require car hire. You have been advised.

    Car was fine, yes it is a little hard to find the desk as it is the opposite way to all the other car hire desks. You do have to find your car in the car park but for the price it was top value.

    I wanted to take this opportunity to make some comments about the Air Auto car rental company because they are by far the best company I have dealt with. I wouldn't go anywhere else.Every contact with them is dealt with promptly. Their prices are good. They are always there to meet me when I pick up the car. Everything is so smooth, I cannot praise them enough.

    Had to queue at desk on arrival, didn't find the desk to be clearly labelled, two other companies using the same desk, the longest queue was with air auto, and only one member of staff on desk, although helpful. Upon returning the car nobody available in car park, telephoned the office and then a seemingly very aggressive and angry female member of staff greeted us, shouting and screaming due to the fact that we returned the car 45 minutes earlier than expected.     A week's car hire was booked via Atlas Choice in the UK. The vehicle was fine and I was told the child car seats were pre-installed. I paid for these locally, before getting to the car. On finding the car, there were two seats instead of three and they were the wrong sort. One was booster seat for older children and the other had badly fixed straps. The desk had closed and I had to arrange to rent 3 seats from another company (at 11pm at night). Terrible customer service!
