Student Loans Company and its various arms such as Student Finance England has amended its web-site to make e-mail complaints difficult. There used to be a link, now there isn't. If you press the organisation they tell you it is customer_complaints@slc.co.uk.

The on-line application system doesn't work in England if you have moved recently from Wales and have any records created there.

The site uses bright colours and simple links but takes you on a circular route if you want to complain.

The Student Finance England contains a statement "If you applied on time, you will be paid when you register form your course". I have made a formal complaint to the Advertising Standards Agency explaining that this is known by the organisation to be a false statement and have asked for a retraction.

I graduated from University in 2006 and borrowed just over £10,000. They have put an interest of £2662 in a space of 3 years. I don't really see this as being 'virtually interest free' and HM customs and revenue think a repayment of £133 a year is a substantial amount to pay off your student loan. It seems pathetic that the basic repayment does not even cover the interest a year. This Student Loans Company seem to be making a mint from the poor students!

A student loan is an easy, low-interest way to fund your studies.
Interest rates on student loans are much lower than average loans and do not need to be paid You until the April after you ' ve finished your course, and even then until you are earning over a set minimum threshold, currently set at £15 000. Make sure you fully understand what you're signing up to by visiting a site which has loads of easy to understand guides to student loans.

The Student Loan Company provide for some funds for study, otherwise you're on your own.
Despite recent partial relaxation (previously 55 years old cut-off), still might not be right for the 59 year old mature student, 3 or 4 year degree course and you're back on your own after 60. This, despite Government encouragement to work until 70+, and for males, no State Pension until 65. Distinct lack of continuity based on NOT spending money.
Good job I was frugal and saved before being prematurely "re ...

    Student loans are rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But you have to get one unless you are rich. The interest rate is low and you don't have to pay it back untill you are earning x amount per year, but most of it is cruelly taken away by the mysterious keeper of the ale and whats left has to pay for tution fees, solid food and shelter. Plus they don't send you any statements and start to take the money straight from your pay packet without notifying you, just when you were trying to save up for a holiday ...
