Good Points: This book is one entwined with deeply moving honesty and sincerity. Athough Andrea is brought into a turbulent life riddled with abuse, torture and at some points I feel she is utterly helpless, but she comes through it all with a heroic attitude. Her love for her mother is unbreakable and everlasting which shows that in the darkest times of one's life, there is always hope, which Andrea Ashworth portrays with a talented hand.
Bad Points: I found Andy's stepfather's abuse rather graphic and too disgusting, although some may argue that it was vital for the impact of the story to be depicted. The truth is that I think it was all too graphic for my liking and I would have understood Andy's suffering without the events being "acted" out for me to see.
General comments: Andrea Ashworth, Once in a House on Fire - Altogether a grand piece of work. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it - you will be deeply touched and moved.
