I was due to visit this park on 10th July for a week But on the morning I was due to travel I tested positive for covid our friends arranged the trip and booked the pitches so I did the wright thing and sent them the photo of my test to sort out with them we had paid the insurance for any unforeseen circumstances but I have been told that I can’t have our money back because we didn’t do a pcr test as proof and they are not backing down and won’t give us the money back what a sham of a sight So for people that are thinking of paying insurance for there don’t bother unless u can produce a death certificate u won’t get ur money back

“COULD BE BETTER”

STAYED IN A BRONZE CARAVAN, IT WAS CLEAN AND TIDY,BUT WE PAID FOR DECKING SO OUR DOG WOULD BE SAFE,THERES NO GATE ON THEM WHICH TO ME IS A BIT POINTLESS.IT WAS RAINING WHEN WE GOT THERE,THERE WAS DOOR MAT OUTSIDE,BUT NOT ONE INSIDE,SO THE FLOOR ENDED UP FILTHY,WE USED A DUSTER TO SOAK UP THE RAIN. SITE ITSELF WAS CLEAN AND OK.THE SITE SEEMED TO BE MASSIVE WITH ALL THE CAMPING,BUT CLUBHOUSE AND ARCADE SEEMED TOO SMALL. THOUGHT THE IDEA OF BUS TAKING YOU TO OTHER SITES AND BEACH WAS GREAT SO YOU COULD SEE THE OTHER SITES. WISHED WE STOPPED ON WOOLACOMBE BAY.OH WELL MAYBE NEXT TIME.

“twitchen park beautifull caravan,s dirty”

written by on 18/04/2012

we have just came back from Twitchen park where i have been going since it was a Hobourne holiday camp (20 years plus) we was so disappointed in the caravan it was dirty with cobwebs in there ok it was a budget caravan but still they should at least give it a good clean the lino was ripped as you walked in the shower wouldn't stop up and the TV channels were none existent. we went down the club one night and there was no seats everything was sticky the beer was flat!!!! Woolacombe its self it a gorgeous place and the park was clean but they really do need to sort out the cleanliness because people will stop going. we will be going again but we will try a newer model of caravan to see if that changes anything but at the end of the day whether it costs £300 or £800 it should not make any difference in it being clean.

“Disapointed with the park again”

★★☆☆☆

written by smithpooh on 03/06/2011

This was the second year we have visited Twitchen and on both occaions I have had to complain about the cleanliness of the caravan. The first year we had a basic van but this year we had a Trinidad and found that the twin room had not even been cleaned as there was a pink ribbon on the floor along with two clothing loops and a 10p piece and the mattress had bits all over it. There was a hair in the shower, the headboard in the double room was thick with dust and one glass in the kitchen had something sticky in the bottom of it. As I had already complained about the previous years caravan's clenliness you would have thought that they would have made an effort to ensure this time it would have been clean - but it didn't happen. The actual park itself is very clean but if you fancy taking your fishing rods forget using the pools the're a waste of time. The walk to the beach is nice along the National Trust pathway but you need to be fit.

We went here in may 2011,we stayed in a bronze caravan, when we arrived my white soks were filthy from just walking along the floor. Then the gas fire would not work and there was no hot water so we went to reception and complained and they said someone would be coming.2 hours later no one had came we complained again and this time someone came within 30 mins.next was the entertainment me and my dada went to see "twitchens got talent" but 40 mins after it was meant to start there was nothing.
The arcade, swimming pool, sauna and walks were lovely though.
we will be coming again but this time staying at golden coast and in a platinum caravan

“Just got back from a fantasic Holiday for x2 Children...”

★★★★★

written by Martina Ansbro on 19/09/2010

Just got back from a fantasic Holiday for x2 Children aged 5 & 7 years for 7 Days in Twitchen House- Stayed in the Primrose which was very clean and tidy
The walk to the beach was lovely the kids loved it, we purchased a Local Walking map from the tourist information and together with a packed lunch walked differenct routes everyday to the beach.
In the evening we walked through x2 fields to the beautiful village of Morteho and watched the sun set then a quick drink to get x2 shattered kids to bed all pubs in Morteho are child/Dog friendly note:fantastic cream tea shop shuts at 4pm and Village Store fantastic Pasties
Loved the fact the amusements at the Twitchen resort was very limited couple of 2p/10p machines and empty grabbing machines so no tanturms- Enjoyed this holiday so much will be returning next year. Most enjoyed finding a different side to my kids with no TV

written by on 06/09/2010

Stayed in Twitchen House the last week of the school holidays 2010, and what an enjoyable holiday we had. We took our dog with us and stayed in a Tobago (pet friendly) caravan. The caravan was in an ideal location, was large (apart from the bedrooms) and very clean, probably the best I have stayed in with our dog. There was a large decked area around the caravan which was ideal. The flooring in the lounge and kitchen area was all lino and also very clean. No only problems I encountered was no lined on arrival and the door lock was faulty however, I would definately recommend.

Stayed at Twitchen House at Easter 2010. What a gem. We took ouir girls aged 5,6 & 8 and they loved it.
Best value is the big yellow bus. Ony £3 for the week for a ticket. You can use the bus as much as you want to get to other parks and go to the beach.
We have booked again for a week in August in a luxury caravan. The best thing is the location. North Devon is wonderful, and Woolacome bay is one of the best beaches you will find anywhere

written by on 31/07/2010

we took our kids (20/17/14yrs old) for a week.access to the site was by a narrow lane(take care) primrose caravan was extremely clean. the layout made it feel a bit cramped but it was well maintained with two loos!!.disappointed in fishing pools as they were unusable and the walk to the beach was either via a hilly track or narrow busy country roads.we couldn't drive to beach because it was that busy (not exaggerating when i say 1000's of people)we couldnt park.if you want a busy well maintained site that has lots of entertainment for young kids then this is the place sadly my kids were bored.shop prices are reasonable for a site and held a reasonably good range.locally bowling at woolacombe is cheaper than barnstaple but you need to book.to sum up site gets 4/5 area gets 2.5/5

Just come back from a short break. Fantastic holiday park. Great for my two sons, aged 9 and 6. Friendly staff, nice caravan, lovely pool and water flume for the kids. Best caravan holiday ive had - would stay here again.

Only down side - too far to walk to the beach - but taxi ride only £6.00. Could have taken our own car, but parking difficult and carpark costs £5.50.

“We have just come home after a short break at Twichen...”

★★★★★

written by kw280870 on 11/06/2010

We have just come home after a short break at Twichen House Holiday Parc and to be perfectly honest we could not fault it. The accommodation was fantastic. We stayed in one of the smaller caravans, the Estoril and it was spotless. It was perfect for the four of us, myself, husband and two small boys. The staff were extremely helpful. We didnt have any hangers and asked at reception and within 10 minutes had hangers. The staff were friendly and the facilities were great. The park was free from rubbish and had been kept well. The bus that runs hourly from park to park and to the bay was so useful. We saved a fortune on parking. We are already looking at returning next year. I would happily recommend this park.

“We (2 Adults 2 Kids ages 3 and 5) booked through Sun...”

★★★★☆

written by on 28/04/2010

We (2 Adults 2 Kids ages 3 and 5) booked through Sun holidays, even with the mixed reviews this place seemed to have. However, it was pretty good. The caravan was old stock, clean but basic. We stayed for 4 nights and I think that was enough. A longer stay would be better in a newer caravan. The childrens entertainment was a bit lame compared to other places (Haven for example) but the girls liked it and thats really all that matters. The bus was great value and allows you to visit all the parks that this company owns and also it drops off at the beach (really good beach!).Food in the takeaway/cafe place is a bit rubbish as is the choice of drinks at the bar. This part of Devon is, however, beautiful and even if the park is not to everyones liking you are in a great base to explore.

“ We booked our Woolacombe Bay, Twitchen House holiday...”

★★★★☆

written by on 03/08/2009

We booked our Woolacombe Bay, Twitchen House holiday through the sun newspaper at a price of £96.00 for a family of four for five days so we were only expecting the basic package.
When we arrived we were given our keys and were told we had a buttercup caravan d4 . The caravan was immaculate with exterior decking and laminate flooring inside. The toilet and bathroom and kitchen were very clean,so first thoughts were WOW.
The outdoor pool was lovely after a long drive and the childrens entertainment was really good with billy and betty beachball on every night. We caught the double decker bus to woolacombe beech and that was very enjoyable the beech was the best beech i have ever been on.
The only drawback was the indoor pool it was nice but without a lifeguard i felt a little nervous as i thought a lifeguard was compulsary.
I asked at reception about this and they said there was a panic button and it is monitored constantly. This park would get a 10 out of 10 from us if the indoor pool had a lifeguard but we gave it a nine and would be going back for certain.

“ Arrived at Woolacombe Bay, Twitchen House to find...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 28/07/2009

Arrived at Woolacombe Bay, Twitchen House to find out that the caravan smelt, no path leading up to it so had no choice but to walk over the wet grass.

caravan had no dog pack as stated, no hooks/bowls etc

Grill didn't work, oven was hit and miss - at least there was a microwave

Grass cut whilst there, so caravan sprayed with wet grass cuttings

Leak in roof in kitchen, no plug or bowl in kitchen - all faults reported but no notes taken so guess these faults will still be there for the next occupent of F1

Entertainment fine for young kids but not of an interest to anyone over the age of 11

Outdoor pool not opened for 5/7 days despite the sun appearing on asking they said it isn't worth opening despite there being 2 hours till closing time said the decision to open the pool was based on the mornings weather up until lunch time and on the times it was open the slide was not open and the furniture as not put out....

Lovely area but very disappointing park, will return but not to their camp sites...

written by on 22/07/2009

Stayed at Twitchen House from 13th-17th July. Had a so called luxury 'Trinidad' caravan which wasn't. Floor hadn't been hoovered, beds not made up (although stated on the web) asked for a bed to be removed for space for travel cot (that had not been done) paid for a highchair which wasn't already in the caravan so had to ask a cleaner for one and cleaned it myself ! Kids 'so called' entertainment was awlful (for us adults anyway). The info on the web comes across really good but very disappointed with accommodation. Would recommend to go to Croyde Bay beach, it was lovely.

“Stayed in an old style trinidad caravan from June 22nd...”

written by sarah1359 on 05/07/2009

Stayed in an old style trinidad caravan from June 22nd - June 26th... though the sun holidays, even though we had upgraded our van, I wasnt too impressed. The bedsheets hadnt been changed from the previous people, which were covered in body odur and some sort of chocolate?? type stuff, the bbq looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years, there were dead flies splattered on the wall in the spare room (which we didnt stay in) the furniture looked really old and shabby, curtains were falling off, we had to go out and buy an iron because apparently you have to take it down to the laundrette to iron clothes (a whole suitcase full.. yeah right?) if this was the "best" caravan, Id hate to think what the basic caravan is like. The bar was a bit dead when we went in and extremely hot so only stayed in there for one drink, didnt think there was much to do on this site, wouldnt recomment it to anyone,we visited the other parks on the bus provided which looked great, love Woolacombe as a whole and always have done, just wouldnt go back to the Twitchen House park again....

“Twitchen House is a well maintained and clean site,...”

★★★★☆

written by xxmiffyxx on 04/07/2009

Twitchen House is a well maintained and clean site, and pet friendly. The walks to the beach are lovely and if you don't want to walk you can purchase a ticket for £2.50 for the site bus for the week. You then have the option for going to all the parks as well as the beach. Plenty of activities....swimming, tennis, table tennis, bowls, skittles, 10pin bowling, crazy golf, snooker, 9/18 hole professional golf course although you need to go to the different parks to enjoy them all. Although there are a few bad points the good points outweigh them. We will be returning back to the park for our future holidays.
