Good Points: Well made & sturdy. Hub gear - low maintenance. Well designed - good handling.
Bad Points: Expensive (> £300). Few dealers.
General comments: This is a child trailer-bike (or tag-a-long) which attaches to a special bicycle rack (supplied) mounted at the rear of the parent bike. It is solidly built of steel and has a sachs 3 speed hub gear. The design is similar to the Burley Piccolo, but the Roland fixing is at the rear of the rack, rather than in the centre which frees the top of the rack for use. Like the Burley Piccolo the design is safer than the cheaper trailer-bikes which attach to the seat post, since the centre of gravity is in the optimal position. This means that the parent bike is not affected so much by sudden movements by the child riding behind.
I would thoroughly recommend this trailer bike, despite the cost, for the improved safety and usability it gives. You can purchase direct from the manufacturer, Roland, in Germany.
