Lovely big bedrooms and a fantastic huge jacuzzi bath in one of the rooms. Hot tub was perfect again with lovely views across the bay. I really do not know where to start with this review of Westfield Granary, perhaps with the potentially fatal consequences of smoke alarms being covered over with plastic carrier bags. It was not until late in our stay upon attempting to light the lounge open fire, that we realised why the alarms were covered ...they went off immediately the badly draughted fire was lit! Then receive an email 8 weeks later saying the balance was due, I telephoned them and was told I needed to pay an extra £250 as I took a low deposit (the only option when booking was the full price or £25 deposit) I was informed that it made no difference whe I cancelled as it would still be £250, even that does not make sense under there T&c's regarding cancellation dates and what percentage you need to pay! I have just spent a week in a farmhouse in Wales booked through Cottages 4 You. The crockery & utensils were chipped and broken. Bedding not too clean (valance had not been changed). Old re-enamelled bath too narrow to shower safely. Very old Dimplex heater in a huge bathroom, totally inadequate. Dining chairs wobbly & unsafe. Owner was friendly but not really bothered when I mentioned the chairs - there seemed no point in mentioning the other problems. Have reported to Cottages 4 You and received a letter of apology but I very much doubt that anything will be done to improve the property and it is listed as Four Star! I actually have a couple of properties with the agency. Started taking dogs 2 years ago. After we bought our own wee dog, found it difficult to get nice accommodation .
However the agency takes 21% of the charge, which I find really annoying, in the last month, have had a Dalmatian pee on my new carpet and scratch the walnut doors in my apartment. I have to pay a £70 minimum call out for my carpet cleaner to come out and clean it, in the past have used my own carpet cleaner but have found the professional cleaner better at it.
I know it's not the dogs fault but not all owners are as responsible as myself. I like to keep my apartment lovely and clean so I think a charge is acceptable as sometimes it does take quite a time to vacuum lots iof hairs from rugs, blankets and bedding, chairs and the extre runs to the laundry to wash my rugs, £6 a wash!which I have to do after every dog visits.
I do thing £25 is quite high a charge especially when the agency is not actually doing the extra cleaning!!

I must reply to this comment. I have been renting holiday cottages for 30+ years, both in UK & Europe, & can confidently say thay I expect to leave any accommodation as I found it & I have often been thanked for this.
I think a deposit system, paid to the owner & refunded on leaving,, would be much fairer. I do appreciate (name removed) comments, but resent being grouped with the irresponsible owner.
