“Noisy boiler, 12 callouts over 3 years”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 26/03/2013

We used to have a reliable back boiler which worked fine, never had a problem. On the recommendation of a engineer we got a Worcester boiler fitted. since it was installed we have had problems with the loss of pressure, parts had to be replaced, but by far the worse problem is the noise it makes when heating up the water, this can best be likened to a jet aircraft doing engine run tests. To say it was loud would be an understatement. 12 times in 3 years we have called out the engineer they came, they saw they tweeked something and assured us it will be'OK now'. Fat chance. We wish we had kept the back boiler!

“Installed 2004. Fine for first few years then likes to...”

Installed 2004. Fine for first few years then likes to play up. IE burner lockouts on ch or dhw for no reason. Had pcb replaced few times.(expensive) Had leak from rear of pump housing, and no local plumber would touch it, so had no choice but get worcester bosch to repair the leak. £180 quid to replace a washer is disgusting, average boiler with average customer service and will be ripped off when it goes wrong which it will. overrated and expensive brand, dont bother!!!

I can get hot water in the winter with the heating on but in the summer I can't get much hot water sometimes I have to run the hot tap for 20 mins before I get any and other times hot water just won't come through, my boiler is only just over a year old. What should I do?

I have just had a Worcester junior 2.8 Combi boiler fitted. How efficient are they and can they save you money by being more efficient, or is this boiler not up to the mark?

Would a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 28 Junior be big enough to supply heating in a three bedroom bungalow? There are 10 radiators in the house, 61,900 BTU's and one bathroom with bath and separate shower. The bungalow is approximately 1400ft2.
