“Disappointing all round.”

Written on: 16/09/2013

Three years old and regularly serviced it has broken down and I have no heating or hot water and am unable to use washing machine because of lack of hot water. Although I am dying of cancer Worcester Bosch cannot send anybody for 4 days. Utter misery. These are not cheap boilers and, although I am not having to pay for the repairs as it is still under guarantee, I feel that Worcester Bosch should have more engineers so they can attend more quickly. They must be aware that this is a busy time of… Read Full Review

“Noisy boiler, 12 callouts over 3 years”

Written on: 26/03/2013

We used to have a reliable back boiler which worked fine, never had a problem. On the recommendation of a engineer we got a Worcester boiler fitted. since it was installed we have had problems with the loss of pressure, parts had to be replaced, but by far the worse problem is the noise it makes when heating up the water, this can best be likened to a jet aircraft doing engine run tests. To say it was loud would be an understatement. 12 times in 3 years we have called out the engineer they… Read Full Review

“not worth the money”

Written on: 03/12/2012 by annipiani (5 reviews written)

We had a brand new Worcester Junior 28i Combi Condensing Boiler installed in 2005 on the recommendation of our very trustworthy plumber because he always thought Worcester Bosch were a good reliable make. How wrong could he be. After the first 6 months the timer stopped working so he had to replace the timer. At 4 years old, the boiler developed a leak and cost approx £300 to put right. Every year since then it has been troublesome, cutting out, developing other leaks, pressure constantly… Read Full Review

“greenstar worcester 28i condensing boiler... Rubbish!”

Written on: 14/09/2011

bought this house mainly because it had a new boiler along with other 'new' additions. never had one of these biolers before but thought a new boiler by a reportedly good manufacturer sounds good... WRONG it was just over 1 year old when we bought the house, it had already had a replacement thermostat fitted(didnt find that one out till aftre sale went through) well from april 2010 to now i have had over 20days off of work because of this boiler!...first it was too hot, front of casing metal… Read Full Review

I WOULD BE A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT THE ENGINEERS YOU ARE USEING AND IF IT IS BRITISH GAS IT IS NOT SURPRISEING BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT THAT RELIABLE EITHER. DO NOT KNOW IF YOU HAVE TRIED WORCESTER THEY HAVE THEIR OWN ENGINEERS AND THEY MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU

We too have had a poor experience with Worcester. Our boiler engineer is properly qualified and has been consulting with Worcester. So far he has replaced the PCB, the Gas Valve, the thermostats and given it a full service. Still it doesn't work after nearly 10 weeks of messing about and £400. To say we're fed up is a understatement. Now looking at a replacement boiler and it won't be Worcester!!!!

Does it switch itself on when you turn on any cold water appliance in your house?

“I have just had one of these fitted through the home...”

Written on: 16/01/2011

I have just had one of these fitted through the home energy scheme in wales. As it was a grants scheme I had no say over what boiler was fitted. Its been in for a few days & my only quarm with it is the hot water temperature is set at 55 degrees.. I dont like this as I dont find its hot enough! As a chef I like hot water hot! Eg my thought is if its heated to a higher temp you can use less hot by adding cold? So with this pre set I feel the boiler is on more?
Germs need hot water to be killed… Read Full Review

Mate,
If you knew what you were talking about what you have said would be ok. But you don't. Temperature set at 55c maximum is a requirement by law. You can't shower or bath in 55c - its too hot. Add less cold water and you get the same effect as to what you are complaining about. It cost more to heat water to a higher temperature. Germs aren't killed at the temperatures you are suggesting - depending on which germs you mean I wouldn't want to be drinking your water full stop.
Legionella is the main problem and it does not live in temperatures that the boiler is set at. the people that make these boilers are not fools and the temperature is set for a reason.

I am fully trained with honours in advanced catering.

The only safe way to kill bacteria is to immerse equipment in water at a temperature of at least 95 degrees for a minimum of 3 minutes.
If you need to sterelise cooking equipment, it should be done in a dishwasher, not water straight from a household tap!

If that is the case then how come a Baxi combi heats water to 60 degrees and hot water in a cylinder can go up to 80 degrees !!

Written on: 10/08/2010

As a one man band installer I have fitted more than 400 24/28Ji and Cdi's in the last 5 years and to date apart from one boiler that the heat cell developed a leak within the first month I have had no failures reported to me. I repair all makes of combis and most problems that I attend in the early days of the life of a boiler are a result of poor installation and more often dirt as a result of not cleaning the old system during installation. Worcester like most other manufactures have… Read Full Review

Installed 2004. Fine for first few years then likes to play up. IE burner lockouts on ch or dhw for no reason. Had pcb replaced few times.(expensive) Had leak from rear of pump housing, and no local plumber would touch it, so had no choice but get worcester bosch to repair the leak. £180 quid to replace a washer is disgusting, average boiler with average customer service and will be ripped off when it goes wrong which it will. overrated and expensive brand, dont bother!!!… Read Full Review

Written on: 31/01/2010

We install and repair boilers. Don't know why people think these are good. Same bits inside as most other boilers, and go wrong about as often. PCBs have "funny" faults which are hard to pin down, fans fail just outside the warranty period, and th aluminium heat exchangers slowly dissolve. If not serviced, the insides jam up and are then scrap.
Too many newbie WB repair guys are clueless on boilers which aren't brand new. A single blue light as a diagnostic is poor - tells you very little.

Written on: 23/01/2010

Brilliant boiler. Quiet and economical. Looks good too! Would recommend if you're looking for an inexpensive boiler solution for a large flat or medium sized house, (up to 3 bedrooms and one bathroom). Water is heated to a very good temperature, and output to central heating system is more than adequate. Boiler has to be fitted by registered Gas Safe engineer or plumber so bear this in mind and allow for the cost of this on top of the boiler price… Read Full Review
