I can't believe all the negative remarks, the only negative thing I have to say about it is windows vista installed , but that's easy fixed go back to XP and the thing flies, one the easiest laptops to upgrade I am now running a core 2 duo in mine and 2 gig of ram.I have an N series wifi card on the way to upgrade the wifi in it (although the original wifi is excellent).
As far as no recovery disks, there is a recovery partition which will reinstall the machine back to factory setup and will make you recovery disks (read the intructions people).
As far as gaming goes no it probably isn't good for that but you should have looked at the specs before you bought it.
seriously awesome machine for the price, perfect for student or home user wanting to do word , excel etc and internet surfing

This was my first laptop...and I have to say that overall I've been happy with it...or at least I was until a few months ago. The screen is pretty big and very clear and it plays all my films and everything fine and the wireless never fails.
    Here's the problems...
There is nowhere near enough memory on this laptop, I have the 1gb 80gb model and I can't play any games on it without them freezing or crashing and I don't have enough memory for all my music etc.
It also takes and AGE to load up, a ...

Really good value, easy to use, set up was simple, I bought an Acer Aspire as my 1st lap top before I went to Uni and it has served me perfectly. As things got easier I have bought an external hard drive to put all estra stuff on.This is a perfect laptop for a student staying away from home for the 1st time, doing general assignemnts etc; anything more complicated and a more robust model is probably advisable.

Generally a very good laptop, found that with a price tag of 265 GBP you were certainly getting your money's worth with the Acer Aspire 5315.

More than enough DDRAM for a basic laptop.
    Screen graphics very clear.
    Positive Keyboard.
    Battery Life was good.

Affordable laptop, chunky, but strong. Easy to use, good starter laptop for students. However, It won't work after 13 months. Acer customer support are not interested in reparing, advsing best to take it somewhere local. Very poor customer service. 1 month outside warranty and it doesn't work!

Not worth buying as it has discouraged a beginner from learning owing to the erratic curser problem from NEW! My relative had this for a gift.It has been and still is a total nightmare as the curser causes emails to disappear, sends them in the middle of writing them, jumps from a task to another and takes hours to write anything as it is all incorrect.Keep clear!!

Its one of the best laptops I have experienced and I do well recommend the Acer Aspire 5315.

I've had this laptop for about 9 months now, 1GB 80GB Version. Its reasonably quick, but doesn't load quickly when first switched on. The LITE-ON charger that came with the laptop got broken within a couple of months, just be careful the wire isn't pulled. Its now running from a Trust universal laptop charger which is very chunky. The laptop is quite chunky and heavy compared to some, and gets very warm when on my lap. The wireless is great, never failed, the only thing is all the Vista Update p ...

Budget laptop but has a very good display which is bright with good colour depth and contrast. Solidly built it looks quite stylish and is not heavy despite its size. There are some really good deals around . Asda have it at £240 and I know you can cget it some places under £200! Well recommend the Acer Aspire 5315.

For those of you who have a good working model, enjoy! I found it to be a complete pain and waste of my time and was only glad that I'd bought it direct from Asda who I could return it to without fuss.

Good for the students who are on a tight budget. Not for gaming. I don't know much about computers. I've had my laptop for about 6 months and it hasn't given me any problems. Definitely not a gaming computer. Perfect for students- affordable and works for school.

    In my experience...
-No system restore discs included-Touchpad is unresponsive-The display on mine has whole colums of dead pixels-Fan is loud-Wont boot with an external monitor attached-It destroyed my external hard drive-The lid/screen is like a piece of stale cardboard to open-Heavy too in my opinion, therefore I do not recommend the Acer Aspire 5315 laptop.

Very affordable and easy to use plus not overkill like many other bloated computers. Solid in every way plus great screen.
If it wasn't for the lack of recovery disk I would say that this is an incredible deal, but it's still a very good value for your average pc user.

Overall I like this system as it has a balance of what I need. A largish keyboard and screen. Dual partition drives of 32GB so I can have one for work and the other for study, thereby giving me one laptop for two things.

I regularly use it for listening to music, creating podcasts, presentations, newsletters and other documents with no problem.

My system has Win Vista Basic, 1GB DDR2 RAM, Intel Celeron 1.73GB and a 15'' screen.

Unfortunately I bought the older version of this the Aspire 5315. It only has 512 MB of RAM, an 80 GIG HDD and no built in web cam
but Its nice for its money and i did get it with about 25% off the RRP
It looks good, casing also feels like it could take a hard knock or two and survive.
It has a very nice screen, its bright, clear, sharp, the colors are very strong and natural.
Vista was ever so slightly choppy with the 512 of RAM but i upgraded it to to 1.5 GIG, that i installed my self and it ...
