it seems to me that they are ripping people off with the so called discount card. everytime we go in and quote our postcode it always comes up as an expired card. I go at least 3-4 times a year for supplies but not anymore, im sick of paying for a card that is supposed to last 12 months but obviously doesn't. also we looked on there website and decided to buy a new tent. on arriving I asked about the tent we had decided on and was told that if the price ended in a 7 then it was discontinued.... £5 so called discount card that really means that there's a slight chance that it will not be quite as expensive as somewhere else, no thanks! Once bitten twice shy, Go Outdoors lost £150's worth of sale today for the cost of updating a discount card, in the end I bought the same stuff for a far less price 2 miles from the Go Outdoors store! With the card GO Outdoors price match. If you see the exact same product cheaper elsewhere (even if by 1p) they will beat that price by 10%.
The only stipulations are that it has to be identical. Same size, same colour/year model, in stock with the competior, and it it is based in the same area as you e.g. manchester for the manchester store, they have to include any delivery charges as you would pay that to get the item or spend more in petrol.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear that. If you are a Discount Card holder it entitles you to take advantage of our Price Guarantee, which means that if you find any of our products cheaper anywhere else, we will beat the cheaper price by 10%.
The Discount card is there to make sure our customers always get the lowest possible price for the goods we sell.
Hope this helps,

Go Outdoors do not employ an parking firm to run car parks, like monst companies they rent all of their stores, the owner of the store itself (go outdoor's landlord) may hire a company which go outdoors have no control over. They are not responsible for the fine (there will be signs in the car park telling you you have a two hour limit0. It is the same at the manchester store and in my experience if you go back to the store with your reciepts and let one of the managers know they will usually speak with the car park company to see if they will let you off.

Hi there,
Our stores can help you get the parking ticket overturned. If you were genuinely shopping in the store, the staff are happy to help. The Parking ticket comes from a third party company and is purely based on a time limit.

I can't complain about this company. We use them all the time for our outdoor gear. I agree about trading standards looking at this and other similar stores which have continual "discounts" from a fictional RRP. Who cares what the RRP is if goods are never sold at it?
In reality, their £5 "Discount Card" is anything but, it's just a way for them to make more cash whilst giving nothing more in return that any store provides.

Everything inthe store has twwo prices on it. Everything! on the items that are on pegs I agree that the rrp is small, i think a combination between limited space on pegs and bad signage layout is to blame. But all things have two prices on it, plus around the store there is signage about the discount card everywhere. Behind the tills in most stores there is a sign about 3.5ft by 8ft telling you about the card.

So no action to my complaint not even a reply. When you purchase an item it is from a retailer and you have statutory rights, my rights have been ignored by Go Outdoors if you think they are not to blame then you can do business with them, but I will not in the future. They sent the boots off to the manufacturer and they wernt faulty. Take a look at the tests they do on your boots to see if they leaked.
300,000 step test? Pretty thorough.
plus with gore-tex you get a lifetime guarentee for the finished product that has the gore-tex label on it. Yes they shouldnt leak, but they were obveously tested and proved fine.
Written on: 20/04/2013
WIth regards to the first pair, what would you have them do, it was outside your warranty with go outdoors and the manufacturer. They have no legal or moral responsibilty to sort it for you, the lifetme guarentee of goretex is seperate and is not to do with the retail store after the first year. If you want to you can call Gore Tex themselves and they will look at them. Just to let you know Go Outdoors use a company called LSR (Lanchasire Sports Repair) to test and repair products with manufacturer faults. The reason why they do this is so that the test is impartial. IF found faulty it is repaired or replaced and go outdoors get the cost back from the manufacturer . If it is not faulty Go Outdoors have to cover the cost of sendng it off so it is in their interest for it to be faulty. They have done nothing wrong and I think that what you want them to do is unreasonable.

Why buy a card? Seriously - what other retailer charges customers an annual fee so they can get their 'best prices' ... if Asda started charging so you could slap your rear as you walked out the store for an 'Asda Price' how many millions of customers would they loose?

If you're having issues with your Discount Card you can always call up our customer service team for clarification on expiry dates, there may be an issue with the registering of the card which is why this issue has occurred.
Our customer service team can be reached on: 01142796368

The card will not have an expiry date printed on them because the date you renew your card the following year might change for example you brought a card 3/3/2012 the following year you come to the store 4/3/2013 you renew your card again so the date the card expires the following year will be 4/3/2014.
However, if you think your card has expired never say can i have a new card . because two cards registered to one address will confuse the system and wipe your details off and therefore each time you come into the store it will say card expired. Always always renew the same card.

Sorry to hear of the issues and confusion that you have had with regards to the discount card. The discount card is a fantastic way to save money on the RRP, sometimes upto 70%, but at least 10% depending on the product. It is something that we actively promote in store and is certainly not something that we try to hide. Our staff are actually trained and tested to mention the discount card to each customer that they come into contact with, which in this case, seems to have been the problem both when you phoned the store and when you arrived in store. The first time we tried to put the tent up we realised they hadn't sent the tent poles!!! After another 3 weeks and about 15 phone calls to their useless 'customer service' team we gave up and returned the pole-less tent to the store. Ordered the same tent for the same price... This Hi Gear Corado 8 tent was bought in Feb 2012 from Go Outdoors, but when going on holiday for the first time we found there was a problem with the front door as it was open at the bottom and there was no zip all the way around the door. We then looked into this matter and found we had been sold a 2010 model of this tent instead of a 2011 model by Go outdoors. After speaking to Go Outdoors about this problem they have said they cannot exchange any tent if it has already been pitched, so... (read more)

I bought a pair of boots that turned out to be faulty, I was told they needed to be returned to manufacturer for testing despite them being returned within 9 days. I needed the boots for a holiday and was happy to accept a replacement, but Go Outdoors still insisted on a return to manufacturer. They seem to have broken the law in offering this as the only solution for faulty boots. As having no boots for my holiday would, from the Office of Fair Trading website, “would be causing an... The company test items similar to yours if it is over 12 months since you purchased in which case it would the manufactures problem and the company HAVE to send them away to be tested because they are following that brands policy.
Therefore once the item has been tested the manufacture will contact the store and then the store will contact you with regards of a refund or exchange. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who lie to companies just to get a new item or money back. So they are not refusing to give you an exchange or refund they need to follow through the policies first.
I work in retail and if retailers refused refunds etc then the company would have shut down many many years ago by trading standards.

The goods were 9 days old!!!! Obviously faulty. Check out the 28 day rule. I didnt even want a refund just a replacement and good service. You work in retail? Perhaps for Go-Outdoors? I worked in retail for 25 years, management for big companies and 15 years for myself. Customer service is prime. They will not go bust as they just find more customers to replace the disgruntled by cutting margins and "aggressive" marketing of end of stock that they often never have a full size range in.. . Ordered two pairs of Packlite trousers when on offer at £50. Home delivery not available so reserved in their new store in Chester, received confirmation of my order. No news from Chester so contacted them to be told that as they were new they were not taking part in the online order and reserve system! Contacted customer services who simply repeated that same. I pointed out that I would have used another store (and collected the trousers) had I known Chester were not participating. ... (read more)

Ordered items 2 weeks before jetting off on my travels. Go Outdoors eventually posted the wrong items after waiting like 7 working day! Filled a returns message and they took too long to respond. Now going away without my goods. Thanks Go Outdoors! (read more)

Only communication from them was to confirm my order. When it finally arrived it was the wrong item. I phoned to complain was given instructions on how to return it. I returned it recorded delivery, requesting the correct item to be sent, and after 9 days had heard nothing despite the Post Office confirming it had been signed for. When I called them today there were no notes of my phone call and they had no record of receiving the item. Am currently waiting for them to get back to me..... (read more)

After traveling to nearest GoOutdoors on more than one occasion only to find "deal items" non existent. Decided to re try after saying never again. Well nothing has changed still poor stock level on "deal items" renewed my discount card "just in case" only to find that the next time I came to use it the sales assistant hadn't renewed it on the system! Manager was most un-helpful "you need to get a new card" even though I had a receipt for goods purchased and returned that day showing card... (read more)

Having thought I might go camping/walking this year I was most displeased after finding their new manchester store and eventually found a parking space in the confusing and very narrow carpark shared with an aldi and several other stores. The store itself was well presented to be fair but with far too many clothing items rather than practical items, but my issue was with the prices for NON discount card holders. I wandered around for a bit and picked up a few items, a simple tin camping... (read more)

Awful company, dreadful customer service. I found an item for £40 and sent the link to a relative to look at. Overnight the price then went up to £64.99 even though it was supposedly a 'clearance' product. I emailed them asking if they would match the original price, they took over a week to reply and all they said was 'Thank you for your email, I apologise for the delay in getting back to you. Sorry for the confusion caused but we occasionally sell off less popular colours at discounted... (read more)

10 days after ordering online, still no update, still no contact, still no goods! Their online account information has now changed from "picking" to " query - out of stock" I do hope that they are not about to tell me that its taken them 10 days to work out whether they even have stock! Appalling! Dont waste your time, choose a company that can afford to bank roll reasonable stock levels and some decent common courtesy. (read more)

I am sick of driving to my nearest Go Outdoors outlet to find the offers that have been advertised dont even exist in store or have sold out, even though i am there first thing on the day of the offer. I have had a few bargains from there in the past, long time ago now. Won't be renewing my membership again.. I now find better offers online and i dont have to drive to "wolverhampton" to experience the bad customer service from a manager who doesn't give a damn.. Its like an expensive jumble... (read more)

Made special trip to Go Outdoors, Loughborough this morning with wife to get some running shoes using the 15% discount voucher we were recently sent. Waited about 3/4 hour to get "served" and get the correct size shoes. Took them to the counter but were told that the discount voucher was only valid between 5pm and 8pm that day! Manager was perfectly within his rights to deny us the discount but I'm afraid he didn't just loose the shoe business - their attitude was such that, despite having... (read more)

I had a similar experience on the Phone, after ordering the goods over the phone, because for some reason my account would not work online, spent 10 mins ordering goods and telling name adrress etc and then tried to use the 15% off voucher only to be told it only worked from 5pm - 8pm. what a stupid policy, at least have an all day promotion. i was told i would have to call back after 5pm and start the process off again. needless to say i didnt bother. they seem to have very little idea of stock control as well, even the head office doesnt know what stock levels are.
you can get a bargain here but be prepared for no help with stock control.

I am sorry but i Have to disagree wth you, having perviously worked ther and shopped then before that I think the discount card is great value.
With regad to the card expiring, if you feel that it has not been 12 months tell them. They will be more than happy to show you your discount card history and show you when you last renewed and what you bought with it. If tere was a computer mistake then they will be all means rectify it in some way.
Regarding the tent, the website will show it on there as long as at least one store is still showing it on their stockfile. This is because having it displayed on the website helps massivly to sell as we used to have customers travel from very far away to the store so want to know if there is anything that they like first. If you look on the website yo actually have an option to select a store to check if they have it in stock and reserve it.
IF for any reason it is showing on the stock file but is not in stock they will contact you before you travel in to let you know hence why when you reserve and collect it asks you to wait for confirmation. The stock file is not always right due to many reasons such as damaged in store. stolen or booking in errors. Any large store is the same whether it is a stand alone or part of a chain.( ive worked in retail since i was 15 its the same everywhere).
Finally with the price, the rrp without the card is set by the maufactuer, it is not set by go outdoors. The card gives you savings against retail, other stores/chains do not HAVE to sell it at rrp.
However with the discount card if you do see it cheaper elsewhere in the uk online or instore they will beat it by 10%.
To do a price match you have two options, you can click on the "found it cheaper" button on the website and wait for a response email with an authorisation code to give to the store, or you can go to the sore and tey can check it there for you.
PLease be aware that to do a price match you have t have a valid card, the product has to be identical, so same size, colour, year model etc. the reason for this is obvious as they will not price match an older model against a new model (different colour usually indicates a different year model). it has to be in stock with who you are price matching as many websites will leave a sale product up on the website that they no longer have in sock and will not get in stock again, and finally if it is not based in the local area (e.g if in manchester for manchester store) they have to include any delivery charges as you would have to pay that to get the product delivered r spend more in petrol to go and pick it up.
at £5 per year the discount cad used to save me £100's per year and even when i was sttaff I kept my card going as customer price was occasionally lower that staff( which is cost price)

Hi there,
We're really sorry to hear about this. The card does in fact last 12 months, and if this wasn't the case then there was an issue with the admin side of things, that can be rectified via our customer service team
Our website shows discontinued items across all of our stores as they are still available via reserve and collect somewhere. While this may not be ideal for somebody who doesn't live near that store, it can be a real find for somebody who does.
Thanks for the feedback, if you'd like to discuss anything further please do email us and i'll make sure somebody gets back to you.
Brandon
