Not sure why people are giving it such bad reviews. It was the best rate I could find at 3.61% interest, setting it up took about 15min in my local branch and they were really helpful. As long as I don't go over the max all is good so I do not see any bad side about it.

Good points: Easy to set up, competitive interest rate, easy to manage and in reliable hands. I would not trust an online bank where I cannot talk to somebody. I am not saying it is easy to call your local branch and speak... (read more)

No trouble at all opening a Barclays Cash ISA. Can now manage on-line. There is a new one coming out with only £1 opening amount which pays 3.61% interest. (read more)

I have always had to make my own decisions on how to invest and where to put my money as Barclays have never intervene so when I proudly produced my large inheritance cheque to the vacant and bored looking cashier I thought she would introduce me to the manager or to advise me on some deals but no, she didn't batter an eyelid, that afternoon I spent time on the internet and sorted it out myself with other various Banks, Barclays have still not noticed that the cash went in and out, that was... I found this review very helpful because...it reinforces my own impression of Barcley's. I had a similar experience to the subscriber who endeavoured to make a sizable envestment and was met with the same indifference with mine,in addition I was not advised that I could have put my money into the(then)new Golden ISA (issue2)instead of my existing cash ISA which pays a very low interest rate, and subsequently discovered that I could not transfer it.Arguably I could have been more alert to the new scheme on offer,nevertheless it would be more than helpful if the staff at Barcley's promped their customers on such matters when making fresh investments.I have since transfered my investment to another bank.

They can't open the Barclays Cash ISA account without making mistakes, and have returned my cheque, as they failed to open it before the end of financial year - obviously they don't want the business. (read more)
