Good Points: The width of the fingerboard is just a few milimetres more than normal yet it makes all the difference when playing intricate instrumental pieces.
A very striking sound quality. It just sings.
Internally there are vertical strips reinforcing the sides of the instrument which is a nice touch.
Sturdy construction. My Goodfellow is 21 years old, battered to bits yet still going strong.
Bad Points: Of necessity the guitar's bass is limited by its small size.
The fret ends could be a little better finished.
Just one strap button!
General comments: Fylde guitars are made in England and are reckoned to be their answer to the American big boys like Gibson, Martin and Guild. The Goodfellow is a small bodied, fourteen fret acoustic comparable to the Martin 000 series although with a more rounded body shape. It projects very well in spite of its small size and is a real picker's guitar.
The neck has a distinctly V shaped profile which feels odd for the first few minutes but then becomes part of the joy of playing the Goodfellow.
Imho it outshines any other guitar in its class. Its closest rival would be the Fylde Ariel which is a 12 fret, slot head guitar.
