Took my car for a service, they phoned me and told me I need brake discs and pads all round with two front tyres.Quoted me a crazy price!!! Refused the work to be done. Took the car to a local independant garage and got the brakes done for half the price!!! The tyres were still legal 3mm!! PEOPLE LISTEN YOU DONT NEED TO GO TO MAIN DEALER FOR SERVICE OR REPAIRS YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF!!!! ALLWAYS TAKE YOUR MOT TO AN INDEPENDANT YHEY ARE MUCH CHEAPER AND FAIRER!!!

Be careful though as some independant's use cheaper discs and pads.Make sure you find out what make they fit and check it out beforehand. I know of someone who had their discs and pads replaced at an independant and later had all sorts of problems(out of warranty, of course) with judder etc. They ended up going to the main dealer and having the job done using again but with OEM parts. I'm not saying that it will happen but do be careful. Same with exhaust systems too. They'll usually quote you for a cheap system so ask about a better quality system that should come with a longer guarantee. Cheap systems are false economy. Often noisy and resonant and don't last long.

“6/9/10: ABS and Traction Control fault lights had come...”

written by Kneelb4me on 06/09/2010

6/9/10: ABS and Traction Control fault lights had come on.

Took car in last Tuesday. They told my wife they had to do change brake pads and discs (no relationship with fault lights) and that a steering sensor had to be changed (nothing to do with fault lights). Agreed to this work.

They told my wife all tyres illegal and would not test drive it and that the work they did would not guarantee the fault didn't recur. They wanted to charge £1100 to replace the tyres. I refused.

Collected the car 4/9/10 and 1 mile down the road the fault lights came back on. Turned around and spoke to Service Manager. Rude, unapologetic, stated "had told your wife no guarantee" and "won't endanger my staff by test driving it with illegal tyres".

Went to National Tyre centre 5/9/10: 2mm back and 3mm front so tyres NOT illegal. Changed the rear ones for £235.

Will not go back to this dealer and have booked the car in at a BMW specialist. Absolutely surreal experience. I believe it is policy for them to inflate problems to gain as much income from each car repair as possible, and even then there technicians are incompetent and their manager's worse and so lacking in knowledge that they allow the incompetence of their technicians to go unchallenged.

Worse, I have bought 3 cars from them in the last 4 years for £90k total, and this is how they treat a long standing customer. Not surprised they have halved in size. The experience means I am unliklely to buy a BMW in the future.

Weve had nothing but problems with servicing department at Stratstone BMW Maidenhead.

Be very cautious if you book your car in for any works. They over charge for parts and works and make out you need more work than is necessary.

They have a very high turnover of staff which is very noticible with there staff knowledge and customer relations. Very incompetant. Say one thing and change later.

Had body work damage on car after they had the vehicle for a day. (they did repair damage at there cost)

If you can use alternative garage or be prepared to be ripped off you have been warned!!!!

“***DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM STRATSTONE TAPLOW***. I...”

***DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM STRATSTONE TAPLOW***. I bought a used BMW coupe from them which I have now found has a fair bit of damage under the car! They have agreed to fix this but I had to go to the dealer principal to get anything done.

The salesman was useless, promised things that were not delivered and then made excuses when I questioned why things were not done.

The finance bloke loved himself a bit more than is possible to believe. He would also think nothing of adding any extra costs like road tax to the finance package without asking first.

The car's oil warning light came on during the journey home. They had obviously failed to conduct even this most simple and basic check.

Thank god BMW make a very good car. It can only be the BMW product that is keeping Stratstone Taplow in business. Avoid them at all costs.

Phoned them today to ask a quick question regarding my BMW, they seemed helpful and polite and said they would get a technician to phone me back soon .. several hours later still no phone call.

It does appear to be a case of false smiles and false promises, they definately do not have a clue about what "customer service" actually means and think they can get away by throwing a few fake niceties around and fool the public.

Looks like I will have to try again tomorrow, but judging by the consistant poor reviews, it could be a while before I get an answer out of them.

A bunch of coyboys!! I bought a used car from Stratstone Mini, it hasn't been serviced as promised, it has one illegal tyre (God knows how they got it MOT'd) I have no user manual and the car has what is known as the Cooper S death rattle, a known MCS fault which should have been fixed.

I've been lied to and fobbed off and I'm going down there tonight to either get the car sorted or report them for selling a vehicle with an illegal MOT.

All these special checks they are supposed to do as part of the Cherished Mini program were either done by a chimp or not done at all.

Statstone absolutely useless. Quality of service work shabby. My car has returned for the same issue three times. I finally took it to a 'bmw specialist' who fixed it properly, explained the bodge that had been done and now it is fine despite the fact I am out of pocket. I will not return.

I find the Stratstone experience is too much about being cheerful on the phone and offering coffee, but without the substance of quality personnel and impressive service. It is a front, a facade floating on a very poorly run ship.

If Stratstone monitored their dealers properly it may not be so shabby. My experience with our land rover at Stratstone Slough was similar. A chubby lady on the service desk with tattoos up her arms kept her pen in her cleavage. Not a pretty sight and not what you would expect in a high end dealer selling Jags and Rangies. Remember you are paying service rates of £80-100 per hour in these places.

Part exchanged an Audi tt for a new 1 series... 3 weeks later and still not recieved payment for the £14.5k owed.

First exposure to them as a dealership and BMW as a brand. Not impressed.

Made an appointment back in December to view second-hand minis. Turned up and nonone knew I was coming despite the appointment made via the phone. All I can say is THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN SELLING CARS!! Two 'typical' salesman then proceeded to virtually ignore my presence in the showroom and discussed which tie each of them was going to wear to their Xmas do!!I even asked them to 'sell me a car'! The whole experience was appalling to say the least and I walked out...went to BMW Syntner at Sunningdale where the whole experience of buying a cherished mini was a pleasure for them and me! Steer clear (pun) from this garage...

“Took my Mini Convertible in for service under TLC...”

written by on 11/02/2010

Took my Mini Convertible in for service under TLC contract. Work to steering not done, so car still pulls to the right on bumps or adverse cambers. They also lost my leather folder with all my paperwork in except the service log book - that was returned to me. After endless phone calls, going to Stratstone, still no folder. They've offered to buy a new Book of the car and give it to me, but all my other records were in there too - what about them. It was their idea to take the lot and "keep it together". Well, who stole my folder and didn't "keep it together"? Wish I'd never gone there in spite of the TLC contract.

Sent in an enquiry about buying a car and they couldn't even be bothered to answer one simple question - whether it has Xenon headlights or not.

Obviously they are doing far too nicely (thank you) to bother with customers. We will look to another dealership and probably another brand.

“Recently bought BMW Convertable at Stratstone BMW. ...”

written by on 22/04/2009

Recently bought BMW Convertable at Stratstone BMW. The Sales exec I dealt with was very friendly, but unresponsive at times. Certainly a seasoned salesman, but with a tendency to over promise regarding the delivery of the vehicle and pass the buck (which I could sympathise with).

Now, the finance guy at Taplow another kettle of fish. Very disatisfied! We agreed one thing first, and on the day I had to sign loads of documents, do the insurance, tax discs, keys etc.. I signed an agreement which is different, much higher APR as a result of arrangement fees I was not aware of!!! I realised this later, and now found I've been stitched up!

Never returned any calls had to contact head office Pendragon PLC. I will never use them again could not possibly trust Stratstone as a whole , as the manager I dealt with was as usefull as a third ear on my left buttock !
" Hello Stratstone / Pendragon" I am still waiting for your return call ! only been a couple of months now ! How much longer are you going to keep me waiting.
