We bought a SMEG STX dishwasher thinking that it would be a good quality and reliable machine. How wrong could we be! It doesn't clean very well and residual food and scum has to be wiped out daily. SMEG customer service is appalling. When I complained to them that it wasn't cleaning properly they wrote back saying I will have to wipe it out with a sponge! Unfortunately we also have a SMEG range cooker which is equally tedious. Difficult to clean, stuff drips from the oven into the warming drawer..On...

My Smeg STX 2 has never worked properly from day one. It's just broken down yet again, so it's going in the bin. Given similar problems with every SMEG appliance we own, they are very much form over function....

Brand new STA 8745 and it doesn't work. I sold my beautiful, perfect Miele freestanding one so I could have this integrated Smeg. What a difference in quality !!! don't let price indicate quality, it is cheap rubbish with an expensive price tag. Even the cutlery basket falls over. Mine is DOA, it leaks. But Smeg won't help me for 30 days....

I was impressed with it for all of about 6 months and then things started going wrong. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this dishwasher....

I also got a SMEG, form day one it was broken, they refused to replace/refund it and sent an engineer out who fixed it, it worked once and then broke again, then when I called SMEG, they said they would contact me in the next 30 days to arrange collection (I'd had enough and wanted a refund). This was against the Sale of Goods Act and I quoted this and they were quite (well very actually) rude and told me I wasn't getting "fast tracked and could wait" one call to the BBC and I had them on the phone...

I bought a top of the range SMEG Dishwasher 3'A's. After a few weeks the motor started sounding noisey. I called Smeg out. 2 weeks later they arrived and told me this was how it should sound. 3 months later they now tell me I need a new motor and a new programmer as does not always heat up the water sufficiently to dry the dishes. The baskets are terrible. Glasses always fall over and we have had a good nuber of breakages and chips. Would I buy another Smeg appliance? No. I am looking to replace...

Year four and second break down I am having with my SMEG STX2 dishwasher and I have to get a new machine. I bought a stainless steel model at £500 odd I'd recommend anyone not to buy this make as parts are expensive....

The drainage pipe on my SMEG STX 2 was faulty from day one and flooded my kitchen floor. After waiting several weeks for the part to be located and sent from Italy, etc. It was repaired, only to break down the following day as the main control panel failed. The new control panel, which arrived two weeks later, did not work either. PS My Smeg cooker is also awaiting its second repair in two months and the hob turns black almost immediately and is impossible to clean...... Do not buy SMEG unless you...

Our new £600 smeg STX 2 dishwasher broke down after 3 months of use. Smeg took over 3 months to locate a part to fix it. Only buy a Smeg if you enjoy washing by hand - it's an expensive shiny box in your kitchen better suited to storage than dish cleaning.
Smeg by name - Smeg by nature....

it's just a dishwasher. it's your problem if you chose to speand 600 quid on a dishwasher and then it breaks...try washing the dishes instead of clothes...you will get better results

Hey if their other products are anything to go by
you're not wrong. My 13 month old Smeg fridge freezer (£1000) and Smeg electric cooker (£650) have just broke down at the same time.
I have been waiting 4 weeks for a part from them myself only to be told they have none in stock and it may take a fruther 2 weeks.
I should have gone with Hotpoint/Zanusi etc.

It really shouldn't be your problem if the machine breaks in 3 months. Most people don't pay more, expecting less.
