If you are thinking of buying a car from Evans halshaw lincoln, don't! I read the reviews before buying mine and just thought it was people moaning so I went ahead and brought one anyway. We had problems from the first week, kept taking it back but the garage couldn't find anything wrong. I even picked it up one day and it kept breaking down/stalling on the way home so I took it back and was then told of actually it does need a part. I had the misfortune to buy a used vauxhall corsa from this group, within weeks the bumper started detaching i took it back to evans halshaw who tried to push it back into place without even removing the wheel guards, the job was not done. When I complained about the quality of the "repair" I was told very rudely by the salesman who sold it to me that it was not like that when it was sold and I must have bumped it. Visited Bedford Evans Halshaw, what a mistake. Rude, cocky and ignorant sales staff, Sales man could not even be bothered to get of his fat arse to meet me. I waited over 45 minutes to be seen, I was not offered a seat or a drink. Cars on sale were in poor condition and well over priced, cr_ap trade in value was offered. After reading these reviews I have come to the conclusion that Evans Halshaw will use any tactic no matter what to stitch you up. I have been buying vehicles for both private and business use for over forty years and have never experienced anything so unprofessional.After my visit to the Evans Halshaw Saltash branch I spoke to other dealers who knew all about the dodgy dealings. Purchasing a car with the company is simple enough however the after care is utterly appalling. The staff majority of the staff are incredibly rude and seem to go out of their way to make the simplest of requests seem like an agonising task. I purchased 2 years servicing / care plan, however, after just 1 year I have given up attempting to deal with the incredibly unprofessional staff and pay to have it serviced elsewhere. I decided to buy a 55 plate tigra from Evans Halshaw York anf left a deposit if £250 and agreed on the day (27th July) to pick the car up on 30th july. Unfortunately on the Sat afternoon I received a phone call telling me that I had an emergency hospital appointment on the 30th which meant that I was not allowed to drive on that day. I was left waiting for 6 hours with my 6 month old baby for a courtesy car. Apparently they were all booked so couldn't get me one and i should have booked one beforehand. Who knows you will need a courtesy car when they tell you it will take 1 hr to fix? Ended up ringing the Newcastle team who sorted a car for us in 10 minutes. All of the staff were rude and not once did anyone check that my baby and I were OK in the whole 6 hours we were waiting. NEVER EVER USE LINCOLN EVANS HALSHAW (read more)

“Worst than RIP OFF bank manager”

Staff are rude and dishonest. Quote you a cheaper price to lure you in but charge you ridiculous price for something that is not needed. Always start with a smile but when you collect your car, their mood changes. Avoid at all cost! Especially Evans Halshaw Leed Vauxhall branch. Complete RIP OFF! (read more)

I had exactly the same experience at the Banbury branch. After care is completely non existent, still having problems 1 year later.

I have used Evans Halshaw to service my transit vans and car for 3 years and would reccomend that anyone who wishes to get their vehicle back in a driveable condition avoid Evans Halshaw Lincoln with a barge pole. They serviced my focus and said it was fine and the next day the front spring went, the AA man said that it had obviously snapped a long time ago, as there was a huge build up of rust, so obviously not noticed when they took the wheel off to check the brakes. I bought a 57 plate ford focus from evan halshaw lincoln about 1 1/2 years ago. when i bought the car was promised a full tank of petrol and some FORD mats, neither were given. After 2/3 phone calls i had to take the vehical in my own time to have the petrol put in which took them about 30mins to do even thought the garage is half a mile down the road. I read some of the comments made by people on this website before buying from this dealer. I thought that it can't possibly be as bead as all that. People please believe me - it is EVERY bit as bad as it is made out to be.

I bought a used Focus (57 plate) from them last year. Other than some very suspect paintwork on a wing it had a few minor scratches, but nothing too unexpected. I asked that the suspect wing paintwork be fixed before I made payment - they agreed.

Do NOT buy a car from this showroom. We purchased a Ford focus 06 plate on 25th of march 2010. Within 2 days it was back in the workshop with a faulty drive shaft, dodgy brakes. The S missing from the Focus badge (promised would be replaced before collection) snapped aerial which they had snapped when cleaning it. Oil finger prints on the ceiling. Latest purchase in Sept 09 was a Ford Direct car (Mondeo diesel),the pre delivery servicing was not done properly, the computer was not reset when the service was eventually done. GAP documentation was not delivered with the car and had to be asked for several weeks after delivery, no radio code supplied etc. There was internal haggleing about which departmnent should pay for the pre delivery service etc. Previous car was a diesel Mondeo and I stopped getting service at this garage... I placed the deposit of £100 on a car at EVANS HALSHAW MOTORHOUSE LINCOLN on Sunday 23 August 09.
Oddly enough the finance was declined, however Bristol Street Motors had approved me. Curiously they both use Black Horse Finance.(Go figure)

Paid deposit and went to collect car 5 days later was not MOT ed as promised told to take to local evens to have it done which I did and it failed! car returned to lincoln evens to carry out work which they supposedly did, still no Mot carried out so returned again to local evens for 2nd MOT, FAILED AGAIN! on same thing. I cannot believe what I have just read! The EXACT same thing has just happened to us at their branch at the Motorhouse in Lincoln! We put a deposit down on a Zafira only to be told a few days later that they had sold it to someone else!

I bought a 3 and a half year old car for just over £5k from Evans Halshaw and it has spent a total of 4 weeks in the garage being repaired in the nine weeks I have had the car. Initially the brakes were bound on and my fuel consumption was terrible. Evans Halshaw wanted to check the brakes had bound on and even offered to pay for diagnostic testing. I bought my Vauxhall from Evans Halshaw Lincoln after a recommendation from a friend.
I have to say it wasn't a bad experience by any measure. I wasn't hassled by salesmen, I wasnt pushed into taking the most expensive deal, and was OK to walk away from deals I didnt want.
Eventually I found a car I wanted and the staff were very helpful and answered my questions. (read more)
