great place, brilliant staff, lovely food up to the dessert- worst chocolate brownie ever, and believe me i've had LOTS of chocolate brownies !! Tasted like raw chocolate cake mix with a crust on!! Left it and mentioned it to the waitress but no response. Pity, because it was a birthday treat. Would reccomend it to friends but would warn them to steer clear of the brownies !!!

On Monday 14th March 2011, I took my girlfriend to this restaurant for her birthday. I asked around many people for a really good restaurant to eat at for a special occasion, and on the advice of a friend decided to book a table for 8:30 in this one. We arrived on time, smartly dressed, however were not shown a table for some time (even though there was plenty of space to sit down). We were not offered a drink on arrival, and were shown our table by a pointed finger (not taken to the table as you would expect). We waited 30 minutes (still without drinks) to get a waitress' attention to ask about the menu and order, but they ignored us the whole time. Eventually we got up and left. One waitress walked upstairs and still ignored us. I feel as though there is some etiquette I must have missed to have felt so unwelcome.

When traveling we try to eat well, by which I mean Good Food Guide/Michelin etc.. M & P compare well with any for the combination of quality and value and we are always pleased to go back. The Early Bird menus are astounding value. Brilliant spot with no weaknesses unless you are too pernickety to live!

First time at Mustard and punch. Had Butternut Squash soup for starters which was very tasty, served with warm bread. It arrived on the table very quickly. Rump steak for the main course was cooked to perfection. The sauce that accompanied was very nice too. Served with vegetables and sauteed potatos.
My only problem was the portions were a little on the small side.
The staff however were very friendly, charming, and eager to please.
At just under £50 for two of us,including drinks,I would definately visit again.

We've been going to Mustard and Punch for about two years as we live in Honley and the one element that mars so many places - inconsistency - is never a problem. The owner is in the kitchen and standards are always spot-on. We like the imaginative menu and the way that dishes are presented anew. 'Coriander turnip' was a new starter to us but it involves spiced diced turnip - there's some cumin in there - thin slices of chicken liver and aubergine chutney. Amazing. Some of the taste combos are unusual - pork fillet with prune and chocolate sauce and spring lamb with coconut 'ice cream' (it's a lightly spiced sauce) - but it all works. Don't miss among the puds the dark treacle marshmallows and 'radish bombe'.

We have eaten at Mustard and Punch in Holmfirth twice now and thoroughly enjoyed both occasions. The experience is special without the price tag that usually accompanies food and service of this quality.
