SIMPLY AVOID!!!! I don't normally leave online reviews, but felt compelled to warn people off this place. You will no doubt have an experience that ruins your day if not the whole week with follow-up phone call. I was almost threatened to have my current car key retained( which they tricked me into leaving with them as deposit for test drives) if I don't put down 100 pounds deposit for a car that I was not interested in buying! They have their ways of tricking you,DO NOT go at all. The sales... (read more)

Do not buy anything from these sexist gits. They will try to rip you off in the worst possible way. I managed to come to my senses before i parted with my hard earned cash. They pretend to be your best friend and the bullsh*t that they splatter is enough to fertilize a small country. If you do go there watch out for the Tanker with the gary tank commander haircut. What an absolute p...k. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Buy your next car from someone you can trust or get some advice. Stay clear. (read more)

Bought a pre reg car from this bunch Feb 08. The car has been back several times with the doors looking/unlocking whilst driving and going round corners. The have taken it on twenty mile test drive - which they weren't authorised to do. Funnily enough no fault found. Also car has been serviced twice by them and they haven't cleared down the mileage. I was told by the Seafield Branch Manager that it can only be cleared down once the service spanner is flashing. THIS IS ABSOLUTE PANTS, they... (read more)

Do not trust this lot. Verbal agreements are repeatedly broken. The car is rarely ready on time. Important repairs said to have been done actually untouched. Faults cannot be found when the car is in the garage. I really do not know how Peugeot have got themselves into an agreement with this bunch because they have convinced me that I will never buy a Peugeot again and I will never buy from Arnold Clark again. Very poor service.
Our salesman sold us a dodgy car and from then on, their attitude was 'its not our problem'.
Electric Window broke
Air Con has broke 3 times
Instrument Panel (Speedo/Mileage etc) died and had to be replaced. I had to pay for this to be done! When they replaced the panel, they reset the mileage to zero, and didn't take a note of the previous mileage which I believe they could have done by plugging a diagnostic machine intothe car.
They lied about length of MOT (Said it...

Arnold Clark Motorstore, Seafield Rd, Edinburgh..Waste of time!!Saw a Nissan on their website on a Friday night so decided to visit the branch first thing Saturday morning (70 mile round trip). Salesman very inexperienced. What a fight for the deal. Only to be told a week later car was a nail and they wouldn't sell it to me!. Why advertise it before its been mechanically checked over first!!. Eventually got my deposit back 3 weeks later!!!. I can only describe my exprience as very poor and... (read more)

We wanted a car that did not have a tow (i.e. more like to have hauled caravans ect). Made that clear to salesman - they hid the tow in car boot! Performance of car has been appalling but test drive was good (hmmm). Would never get a car from Arnold Clark again, I don't think they are honest or ethical. (read more)

Last year I bought a Daihatsu YRV from Arnold Clarks in Sighthill, Edinburgh.
After a couple of days the boot would not open. I took it back as it was under the 7 day warranty and was told all the lock needed was a bit of oil.
A week later the boot wedged itself shut again and has not opened since.
I phoned up to complain and was told that the boot was not their problem as the warranty had expired.
poor service and staff with a major chip on their shoulders if you dare complain.

I bought a car with a faulty arm rest, Arnold Clark said to take it back to the service dept, which is only open mon-fri. After 3 visits to repair centre, management refused to sanction repair, saying i broke it after i picked the car up, the salesperson denied the arm rest was faulty when bought. (read more)

I purchased a Vauxhall from Arnold Clark Seafield east in Edinburgh and I was promised the world with this car. When I went for the car it was delivered to me soaking wet, which makes it difficult to see any scratches on the car (so if your car is wet ask them too get it dried so you can inspect it). I have become so stressed with this company I have shed tears and have not driven the car. Do not phone customer services because they are worse again. (read more)

We saw a car on the website and travelled from Aberdeen to see the car at Edinburgh Seafield Motor Store. The car itself had a few small marks on it. The salesman pounced on us even although we told him we just wanted to look, but he hovered over us for the entire time and told us it had traction control when it didnt. After half an hour we decided to go and look at other garages accross the road, this didnt go down well and he walked away. We went back an hour later and decided we would... (read more)

Really, don't do business with Arnold Clark. If you must, then do not take ANYTHING said as being binding - it will not be so NO MATTER what they say or promise. Get everything in writing, DO NOT buy a car with "things to be fixed". (read more)
