Having decided to change my car I went to Arnold Clark to discuss trading in my current car against a second hand car from their huge supply's.

At first the sales guy was extremely helpful and truly went the extra mile in order to secure the sale of the car to myself, which was pleasantly surprising.

Unfortunately that is where the good times ended and here started all the problems.....

Having looked at the car fresh of the transporter (car delivered from Scotland) there where a list of items I wanted replacing, painting and fixing that I pointed out to the sales dealer that I required to be done in order for me to proceed with the purchase.

The sales rep agreed everything that I had asked for and said it would be no problem to sort out and we agreed the deal. I was then told they would need a week to get the car ready as per my requests.

One week later I arrived to pick up my new car and 99% of the requested work had not been done. Having been promised the rest of the work would be carried out the following week I foolishly went ahead with the deal and paid in full for the car.

one week later all but one sticking point has been fulfilled as requested but the last which was new front tyres has not.

To this, I was now told after several promises from the sales rep that he would replace them, he now would not!

He then much against his will got sales management involved who on meeting to discuss the promises made by the sales rep calls me a liar and states that the employees would not make promises like the one I had raised, especially regarding tyres.

I said that this was fine (not) and that I would simply take a full refund on the car as the verbal contract surrounding the purchase of the car had not been met. The sales mangement response to this was that they would not give me a refund of any sort and neither would they supply the tyres that had been agreed.

Overall verdict of this company is that they are seriously dishonest and will stoop to any level to secure a sale.

I would not trust them in the future to work on the car nor would I recommend them to anyone seriously looking for a new/second hand car unless the car when you come to collect it is exactly as stated.

My position now is that I am having to take legal action in order to either get the tyres promised or a full refund.....which ever comes first!

I put a deposit down for a new Zafira at Arnold Clark. Got a call the day I was to pick it up and was told that the finance I was offered was not right and would have to pay extra per month. As I declined their new offer, they upped their sales pitch, telling me I must buy the vehicle. After trying to haggle with me over several phone calls, they reduced the finance to the original.
