In our experience we would not buy from Arnold Clark the only person who was people friendly was the salesman when we had problems and we were passed from one customer service person to another for two weeks. We were extremely let down by this company, as the car we were car we were told was in mint condition was on arrival obviously not. We have not had any appologies from them.

I bought a 14 month old Ford Focus from Arnold Clark at their Ayr branch.
It became apparent to me over the first few weeks that the car had been re-sprayed,I also found broken glass under the carpets in a few locations.
The car also did not drive like a nearly new car with with a sloppy gear selector and strange noises and a vague feeling from the front end.
I bit the bullet and cursed myself for buying a dog.
After about a year a patch of paint fell from the front passenger door, the paint it ...

I bought a car 8 weeks ago as a working car. it has been in the service dept. three times and the RAC have been out at it twice
I have not been informed by the Cumbernauld Service Dept. that the Cat Converter needs replaced. They do not know when the part will arrive or if. Surely they are not trying to say that there are not parts for an 18month old Kia Carens. The sales people have been most unco-operative and cannot even offer a curtesy car.

I bought a top of the range twintop 2.0 turbo from the Arnold Clark Glasgow branch in November 07. As the windbreak comes as standard with this model and there wasnt one when I picked up the car the salesman said "i will order you one from Vauxhall". Two weeks later i called to find out if it was in, i was told there was a backlog (lame excuse) Called two weeks after that and was told by the salesman that his boss has refused to provide the windbreak (even when it comes as standard with the mode ...

I went looking a for a car at the AC on Alison street after having a look round. The dealer took me on a test drive in the model I was looking for and I was liking the car - he then tried to sell me the demo model I had just been driving, which would have been okay if it had not been for the age (a year old) and the price (1k more than I had seen for a pre-reg new). I declined politely, and he let me leave without too much fuss.
I went to the AC in Paisley to find the exact colour and model I w ...

I took out a Service Deal on car purchase but it does NOT cover the Manufacturers recommendations. Arnold Clark charge extra for this and a first "Free" service cost me an extra £91.
Never heard of a Coolant Change or a Brake Fluid Change or a Fuel additive on your first service? - Well go to Arnolds they are masters of this nasty practice - Dick Turpin at least had a mask!

I intend to take this above them if I can find an address.

I'd recommend you do not buy from this team, surely all the information you can find on the net shows this is the case. Went instead to Halshaws in Kirkintilloch, treated like a star, bought a fantastic Mondeo.

I was really pleased with the service I got - this is the first time I've bought a car and was surprised at how easy it is to do - the sales guy at Arnold Clark sorted everything out for me - sold my car, organised new car, oganised loan etc. My best friend was so impressed she's just been and bought from them too!

Reversing the new car just before delivery into a post and expecting me to part with money and my old car and take a taxi home (and for the next 2-3 weeks!).
Not managing to fix any minor faults on time or even the correct day and ordering the wrong parts, not managing to fill up the oil etc.
I have just taken the car to Arnold Clark for the third time to fix front suspension brackets (£228) to find on driving home a terrible clunking noise. The AA have fixed it - drop link not tightened ...

Below is a detailed account of a deal I was doing with this branch. I was lucky in the end as I got out of the deal (although I lost money) but I think it's only fair to tell as many people as possible about the terrible service you can expect at this branch.
A complaint was made to customer services but they just passed the complaint to the salesman I was complaining about.

    21st October
I phoned to arrange to go and view a Voyager after seeing it advertised on the stock locator. The car turn ...

I bought a 52 Plate Nissan Primera at Arnold Clark. After one week my car started shuddering violently, so I took it back to the garage who told me that they needed the engine management light to be on before they could see to it. The very next day it came on so it went back. They then cleared the light and said they couldn't fix it, I would need to take it to Livingston, as the garage their is Nissan. Took the car to Livingston who checked it over and called me, due to the fact that East Kilbri ...

just bought a picasso from machargs in glasgow, i was promised 6500 over the phone for my trade in and in the end had to haggle to get the trade in price from 6000 to 6400 + mats+petrol.
3 weeks later i'm still waiting on mats and got £3.99 worth of petrol!.
I had to take my car to arnold clark in armadale( local dealer ) yesterday to sort my unworking window washer and get my rear view mirror replaced only to be told that the car needed £125 worth of work done which included a se ...

After buying a car from Uncle Arnold Clark 5 months ago complete with Autocare extended warranty , I quite happily walked into my local Clark dealer with a couple of problems that popped up during this time knowing that I was covered for all non wear and tear parts i.e. exhaust-brakes and tyres .
To my amazement and anger the 4 problems that I had were not covered by autocare and after numerous phone calls found out that they seem to make up a list of things they don ' t cover depending on how m ...

Bought new 2 litre Ibiza Sport and after 2 years went to trade in for new one. Was offered £5000 for old one by Arnold Clark! When pointed out how ridiculous a price this was, salesman told me that as 2l aren't made anymore he could only quote me trade-in price on 1.4l?! And servicing not all that either- make sure you get a man to take car for you as they see women coming. As no competition in Glasgow due to them buying virtually every other dealer is impossible to avoid but next car will ...

Bought a car from an Arnold Clark Car Dealership in June 2004, I also bought the 2 year Autocare warranty at £395.
Seven months later the car is in a garage and will cost £2000 to repair.
ARnold Clark refuse to cover the cost of repairs even though I have the warranty.
