“hopeless instructions”

Written on: 12/05/2013

My dishwasher arrived looking lovely. Then I discovered I could not fit my plates into the racks. I perused the manual, but couldn't find aything relevant that jumped out at me. I decided that as it did look so good I would go out and buy some smaller plates. They didn't fit either. Finally I realised that the adjustments could be made to the top runner. Why didn't the makers have it set to fit normal plates in the first place? The washing cycles are many and long, but none are named or... (read more)

“Caught on Fire halfway through a Wash”

Written on: 22/11/2012 by Angrysnoops (1 review written)

We bought this machine 2 years ago and 2 weeks into using it the seal around the door corroded, As it was so new Kenwood (Reluctantly) agreed to send an engineer out. When he arrived he siliconed the same corroded seal back in place although made the mistake of doing it upside down, immediately the machine started leaking. We called the engineers back out and they scraped the seal off and then stuck the same corroded seal back around the door with silicone sealant although this time the... (read more)

Just less than four years old. Soap dispenser replaced five times, the last time no longer under warranty (about 140 Canadian dollars). Now it needs a pump replacement at about 360 Canadian dollars. Doesn't wash particularly well. Time to junk it and buy another - but NOT one of these! (read more)

“Not good”

Written on: 10/04/2012 by Andrews_reviews

Had similar experience to most. Ours broke down within a few weeks of having it. The engineer that fixed it when asked was it a good machine said "I wouldn't buy one". Suffered with wheels coming off the baskets. the cutlery basket breaking!! The door seal coming off every time you open the drawers and last night the power switch failing. Not a good product. Just spent £50 on parts in the vain hope i can coax a few more years out of it. General quality of the product isn't great. (read more)

“Looks great, but fails to deliver”

Written on: 22/08/2011 by RTibenham (1 review written)

Like many other reviewers, I have not been impresed by this product. I have a number of Kenwood products in my kitchen, all of which have performed well, but this one bucked the trend. The fundamental problem is, the design of the internal washing compartment is diabolical; I think Kenwood must have got the work experience boy to work on it. The upper rack is too low, so 'normal' size dinner plates will not fit in correctly. This leaves bags of unused space above the top rack. To compound... (read more)

Made the mistake of buying on looks. The tray allows plates to just hang down enough to catch the rotating washer arm and stop it from turning. As a consequence half the dishes don't get sprayed and come out dirty. Engineer unable to fix this type of problem so returned it to Currys and after a lot of messing around got our money back. Don't buy this machine. And despite great in-store service (much improved in recent years) the whole back office call centre arrangement was diabolical. Had... (read more)

Plus point, it looks good with no outside switches and matches the other kitchen appliances.
Bad points. We can only get two of our large dinner plates in (10.5 inches) before the plates get in the way of the spinner. They say you don't need to pre-rinse (saving water) but you do if you want clean crockery. I don't put anything in that's caked anyway, but this has trouble removing hard crumbs from a plate that has toast on it. When emptying it you have to have a dishcloth to hand as loads... We arrived home, and installed the unit, and did a test wash. I then went on line to see what the reviews were like for our new kitchen slave.

The finish on this product is a disgrace. Qulaity control must have been non-existent. I have read reviews elsewhere that use phrases like "interior finish a bit cheap" - this is an understatement. How can a durable cutlery basket have (after 9 months) great big holes in it - and I put sharp ends up - meaning that unless careful the cutlery drops through the bottom thus restricting the lower rotor arm. For those people who complain about dirty glasses, everything else is dirty too, you just can't see the muck on things like cups and plates. Not that the plates fit in there anyway. Read the manual. Adjust the top tray and the bottom tray takes full size plates with ease; you don't have to lie them flat that's just madness. In fact you don't need to read the manual, it's obvious just by looking inside the unit that you can adjust the top tray.
