My dishwasher arrived looking lovely. Then I discovered I could not fit my plates into the racks. I perused the manual, but couldn't find aything relevant that jumped out at me. I decided that as it did look so good I would go out and buy some smaller plates. They didn't fit either. Finally I realised that the adjustments could be made to the top runner. Why didn't the makers have it set to fit normal plates in the first place? The washing cycles are many and long, but none are named or... (read more)

We bought this machine 2 years ago and 2 weeks into using it the seal around the door corroded, As it was so new Kenwood (Reluctantly) agreed to send an engineer out. When he arrived he siliconed the same corroded seal back in place although made the mistake of doing it upside down, immediately the machine started leaking. We called the engineers back out and they scraped the seal off and then stuck the same corroded seal back around the door with silicone sealant although this time the... (read more)

I have had mine for just 2 years. It doesn't wash properly and it throws water out of the bottom of the door. Total waste of £320. When the first one arrived it packed up after a week and was replaced. Go for a named brand and forget Kenwood. (read more)

Just less than four years old. Soap dispenser replaced five times, the last time no longer under warranty (about 140 Canadian dollars). Now it needs a pump replacement at about 360 Canadian dollars. Doesn't wash particularly well. Time to junk it and buy another - but NOT one of these! (read more)

Had similar experience to most. Ours broke down within a few weeks of having it. The engineer that fixed it when asked was it a good machine said "I wouldn't buy one". Suffered with wheels coming off the baskets. the cutlery basket breaking!! The door seal coming off every time you open the drawers and last night the power switch failing. Not a good product. Just spent £50 on parts in the vain hope i can coax a few more years out of it. General quality of the product isn't great. (read more)

nice looking appliance, cycles too long and washes approx 70% of load properly, glasses and cups usually come out dirty and plates and bowls come out with residue meaning you either wash again by hand or put in again. brought this to replace a bosch machine that had given up the ghost and thought that kenwood would be a good mid range product, however this is just a name used by currys and made in surprise surprise china. out of warranty now so if it dies it is going for scrap, may even... i thought this product was terrible for the first 6 months of use. Left dishes dirty, couldnt fit plates into either the bottom rack or top rack..... This all changed when we discovered that you could move the upper rack UP...as soon as we did this, hey presto, plates and saucepans now fit easily into bottom rack and guess what? They all come out sparkling clean! Wish someone had told me this six months ago when i almost decided to give this to the scrap man! (read more)

we bought the Kenwood KDW12ST3A Dishwasher in November 2008 from Curry's for approx £240 to find that early this year 2011 it started to throw up and error code of E3 referring to temperature and stopped working, have had a repetable repair man come out to look at it to discover a possible circuit board fault that could cost as much as the dishwasher to repair, also discovered that Kenwood is no longer a brand but simple a name taken on by other company's so any ideas of quality anyone ever... Like many other reviewers, I have not been impresed by this product. I have a number of Kenwood products in my kitchen, all of which have performed well, but this one bucked the trend. The fundamental problem is, the design of the internal washing compartment is diabolical; I think Kenwood must have got the work experience boy to work on it. The upper rack is too low, so 'normal' size dinner plates will not fit in correctly. This leaves bags of unused space above the top rack. To compound... (read more)

Made the mistake of buying on looks. The tray allows plates to just hang down enough to catch the rotating washer arm and stop it from turning. As a consequence half the dishes don't get sprayed and come out dirty. Engineer unable to fix this type of problem so returned it to Currys and after a lot of messing around got our money back. Don't buy this machine. And despite great in-store service (much improved in recent years) the whole back office call centre arrangement was diabolical. Had... (read more)

Don`t buy this machine, it`s rubbish, cutlery baskets get holes in the bottom, the runners for the shelves fall off, and the only way to get the plates clean is to wash them thouroughly first, they some out with dried grit everywhere, this machine was never fit for purpose, unfortunately we had it in the garage for eight months before we put it in and by the time I realised it was rubbish it was out of guarantee.

A dish washer is supposed to do what it does in the tin, i.e. wash dishes. This product has never got the dishes clean & I usually end up doing the job again by hand. After about 2 years of use all I get now is the E3 error. It's going in the skip as it's a useless piece of tat.
To be avoided at all costs
On the plus side it looks stunning! (read more)

Kenwood don't make dishwashers, the DSG group use the name under licence, basically selling tat under a reputable name. This should really be made known.
Quality wise, awful. Seals fall off, pipes are poor quality, constantly failing or blocking. Don't bother buying, best thing is to spend a little more and buy a proper branded product. Al
l in all a bit of a con as the name fools you into thinking its a decent product. Avoid. After 5th failure, buying a new dishwasher, but not from Currys/... (read more)

Had the same problem as Fundel. I have owned several dishwashers in the past and have never had a problem. My husband bought two of these dishwashers for our new house and they gave out a year after buying them (less than a year of actual use). My husband did not purchase a warranty. So we are stuck. I'm not very picky. I can live with slightly dirty dishes, salt, loose cutlery trays, etc.

I only paid £200 with codes etc so I appreciate this wasn't going to be the best dishwasher in the world!. Within a month the waste unit had jammed under guarantee so no problem.
Washing results I have found to be ok use Eco which cleans same as normal IMO. The main problem as the last reviewer commented is on and off for 3 years have the E3 message now it's everywash. If I were to buy again I wouldn't buy Kenwood.

Kenwood KDW12ST3A Diswasher
Admittedly, I've only owned this dishwasher for a short while. However, I'm confused by some of the comments that other reviewers have made. The first time we washed our dishes there was a little extra water on them so we read the manual and saw that we needed to increase the intake of rinse aid, so we did. Guess what, it's now drier! We don't wash our dishes before they go in and the come out clean and sparkling after the eco wash (1:38).

Plus point, it looks good with no outside switches and matches the other kitchen appliances.
Bad points. We can only get two of our large dinner plates in (10.5 inches) before the plates get in the way of the spinner. They say you don't need to pre-rinse (saving water) but you do if you want clean crockery. NOT a bad dishwasher.
We bought our silver Kenwood KDW12SL3A after our 8 year old hoover packed up with a bang, and flood, the day before having 12 family members over for mothers day.
It was a rushed decision, based on what was available for us to take away from Currys there and then.

I wish I was as lucky as the last 3 reviewers.... however my appliance has now gone wrong as well just in time for Christmas. It does not finish any wash cycle apart from the 8 min rinse. Bought one second hand and I have not had any problems with it. Although i had to look up the intruction manual, once you read through it, it's really not that hard to use. Unsure how some people have got quite confused over this. I have used some terrible dishwashers in the past but this is not one of them. I'm confused about other people's negative comments here. I have one of these, and it is solid, quiet, lots of programmes, flexible racking, and cleans well.
The finish of the machine is good, and its difficult to find a stainless steel panelled machine for this price.

All these negative reviews for the Kenwood KDW12ST3A are what has prompted me to correct some points! Had I read reviews of this product online I'd have never bought it. Turns out EVERYONE is wrong which is incredible.

The finish on this product is a disgrace. Qulaity control must have been non-existent. I have read reviews elsewhere that use phrases like "interior finish a bit cheap" - this is an understatement. How can a durable cutlery basket have (after 9 months) great big holes in it - and I put sharp ends up - meaning that unless careful the cutlery drops through the bottom thus restricting the lower rotor arm. As for the lower sliding tray from day one the cheap little wheels jam against the cheap... (read more)

Absolutely terrible, the only way you can use this Kenwood KDW12ST3A is if you wash the dishes by hand first!! We have had this kenwood kdw12st3a dishwasher for 4.5 years. Fortunately we took out a 5 year warranty which is the only reason why we still have it and use it. This Kenwood KDW12ST3A is without doubt the worst dishwasher I have ever had the misfortune to use. EVERYTHING comes out dirtier than when it went in. For those people who complain about dirty glasses, everything else is dirty too, you just can't see the muck on things like cups and plates. Not that the plates fit in there anyway.
