Good Points: They have a beautiful studio and allowed us an "engagement portrait session" as a way of getting comfortable with them and in front of the camera. (We had already been engaged for a few months but it's the thought that counts!)- They were very professional in appearance and action. During the reception I was asked several times, "Where did you find this photographer? He's amazing!". - They were quite unobtrusive during the quiet moments. This might not seem important but I was at a wedding where the photographer was a huge distraction during the ceremony. Take note photographers: don't act like paparazzi during the ceremony!!!- They gave us a very large spiral bound proof album that contained 630 images AND an online gallery!- They produced every photograph we asked for but then we saw the stunning photographs that weren't even on our list. They turned out to be my absolute favorites!- So many of the prints we have received could stand alone as works of art.- We had our album 1 month after we picked the photos for it. That seems like a reasonable turn around time.- They have a huge selection of album options.- Great presentation.- If the venue is to their liking they say they will travel! This wasn't necessary for us as he is only an hour away from Bar Harbor but I would remind brides out there that great photography isn't easy to come by so it's well worth asking FinePrints to come to you!
Bad Points: Their options are limited. I would recommend pushing for what you want a little here and asking them to customize the work for you.- You need to book well in advance because they only accept 10 wedding clients each year. My closest friend ( also my maid of honor ) nearly started crying when she called an found they we're booked. It seems a little crazy to me that someone that is this good at his craft would limit himself in that way. He could easily make a small fortune and retire young! - They are a little pricey for the area that they're in. This doesn't really count if you're asking them to travel and besides, we all know what can happen if you hire a budget photographer.- They aren't easily reached by e-mail. They prefer to do business by phone or in person which can be a huge pain for someone like me that's always on the go.
General comments: We've recently had our wedding photographed by FinePrints (www.fineprintphoto.com) and we feel compelled to say a few words to support their great work. We chose to be married in Bar Harbor, Maine for it's scenic beauty and because it's a place where Connor and I have vacationed several times. After doing some research we felt it necessary to hire a photographer that specializes in scenic weddings. To summarize the pros and cons: if you can overlook the fact that they try a little too hard to keep their business small scale and if you can put up with most of the contact coming via telephone instead of e-mail you will be absolutely blown away by the work they will do for you. That's what it's all about in the end any way, Right? They told us during our initial consultation, "Expect perfection, expect to be stunned by the quality of our work." We certainly are.
