“Best Ever Christmas Menu”

Not a wide choice on the Christmas menu but well thought out. Beautifully presented and wonderfully tasty. Excellent service. Couldn't fault anything and will definitely eat there again and would certainly recommend to friends and family.

“Excellent, fantastic, fabulous food”

I won a competition and was awarded dinner, bed and breakfast at The Mill, 1 Mill Street, Stone, Staffs. The food was absolutely fantastic and wasn't expensive, although I didn't have to pay. We ordered off the al la carte menu - I had the salmon fishcakes for starters and the pork fillet with mushroom and pepper sauce with chips and salad for mains, my husband had goats cheese for starters and the duck with new potatoes and veg. for main course. Both the duck and pork were cooked to perfection and the chips were hand cut and crispy. The food was served really quickly and there seemed to be plenty of waiters/waitresses. The room was really clean and the bed comfortable and the breakfast was excellent - two sausages, two slices of thick cut bacon, two hash browns, egg, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes - the plate was full. Fruit juice, cereal, toast and tea or coffee. We didn't eat again until 5.00 p.m. I recommend this Hotel and Restaurant - which was a flour mill - to everyone. I wish I didn't live so far away as this would certainly be my local eatery.

Friendly and efficient service, lovely food well cooked and decent portions.
We ate from the tapas menu and were very impressed, its not the cheapest place to eat but you get what you pay for and top notch ingredients are not cheap. If you are looking to impress then this is the place to go although it was a little quiet when we went ( a cold wet Wednesday evening in March )
Top tip! we used the tastecard discount card(tastecard.co.uk) which halved the food bill and meant we payed just a shade over what I would pay for pub grub and the last time I looked my local wasnt selling pan fried madagascan tiger prawns or octupus in a spicy tomato sauce!

We wentearly in the evening midweek and it was very quiet. The service was excellent, the layout and decor modern yet comfy and the food wasdelicious and interesting, different from the usual pub grub you get in many places.
We would certainly go again.

Been there. Done that. Nice food. The Portuguese menu at The Mill, Stone, Staffordshire isn`t exactly the mainland menu, but more typical of Madeira. Will visit again and again. As long as wallet alows. It is something different and the food is nicely cooked.

The Mill, Stone, Staffordshire has a small menu, meaning everything freshly cooked. Portions just the right size. I had salmon risotto as a main, not an easy dish to cook but it was perfect. Wish I could afford to go every day.

This review is from several years ago, and things have changed considerably. The entrance is certainly unappealing, but the service and the food are superb. The staff are friendly and attentive, and all the food is freshly prepared. I've only been the once, but am certainly planning on returning.
