Recently I booked a holiday in Nov 2009 through Sunsave to Portugal, as it was near end of year time my wife and I asked for a possible sea view or south facing hotel room with balcony to be able to sit in the sun, at this time of the year and with our age it now makes walking more difficult. I booked over the telephone in October by credit card.I was told that a request had been put in for our south facing room. Arriving late at the Alba Hotel Monte Gordo on the 3rd Nov 2009 we did not realise unti the second day that we had a North facing room.I was able on the 5th Nov to speak to the Hotel Manager, who said yes the North facing room did not get any sun at that time especially but could not give us a south facing room as the Hotel was under contract to a DUTCH company who had all the South facing rooms for their clients. I tried over the next few days to contact the REP via the telephone number given on the booking form. However it was not until the 9th that I asked the Hotel to telephone for me and I managed to contact the SUNSAVE Company, after being traferred after my explaining the problem I was told only the REP could help..I then tried again and again until finally I got the REP who gave me another number for another REP dealing with the MONTE GORDO area. After explaining again and the REP talking to the Reception I asked would it be possible to move to another Hotel nearby with a south facing balcony for the last week of our holiday..The REP rang back some time later to confirm that we could move to another Hotel if we paid another 342.12 EUROS extra. As Pensioners we could not take up this offer so stayed on at the ALBA HOTEL. On leaving I was presented with a bill for tephone calls locally to the REPS and the UK CALL made to SUNSAVE...On our return to UK I contacted SUNSAVE to get our money back for at least the Telephone calls incurred.. They said they would telephone me back..after 10 days I contacted them again and they stated they had listened to the original bookig call in OCT 2009 and the TERM REQUESTED meant JUST THAT. and they could not have Guarenteed me the ROOM I THOUGHT I HAD RESERVED WITH THEM..IT DOES STATE ON MY BOOKING FORM THAT A REQEST HAS BEEN MADE...Should they legally and morally have taken the money for this booking when they SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THIS BOOKING WAS IMPOSSIBLE AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. SURELY THEY MUST HAVE CONTACT WITH THE HOTEL BEFORE and could not possibly have given me what I asked for.. I WOULD HAVE BOOKED ANOTHER HOTEL HAD THEY BEEN HONEST WITH ME. I have retained all receipts and booking forms and REPS COMMENTS IN WRITING. ...Mr L.Coote

we booked through sunsave for a 4 day holiday in sardinia, everything was very easy to book, except our tranfers that we needed from the airport to hotel and back. we booked the tranfers and paid the amount but no vouchers were sent. we called back and were told they hadnt been payed for so we payed again. we printed off the vouchers and everything was fine.
the flight was all correct and we landed on time but to find there was no transfers. we called the helpline which sent us through to a com ...- Read Guest's review (335 words)

i give Sunsave zero rating, my daughter and her friend booked and paid to go to ibiza for 7 nights, they flew late saturday 18/09/09 so therefore their last night should have been tonight 24/09/09, just had a phone call, the holiday ends now they are waiting for their transfer to the airport, the hotel told them sunsave only made a booking until today so for their money they only got 6 nights, 5 days.
dont ever book with this company.- Read Guest's review (76 words)

It seems to be common for Sunsave to charge customers what they like. I am also in this position where you try to cancel after they have added on charges and when you try to cancel they tell you you will have to pay £100. Customer services are not forth coming. I have had to give them 1 star as there is no place for zero stars.- Read Guest's review (66 words)

I booked online last night and when they called back today the price quoted was more than £200 greater. Part of this increased charge was a 'ticket on demand' fee (£60 for 2), even though Easyjet use ticketless flights! They also wanted to charge me double the Easyjet baggage handling costs and a further £60 in booking fees.
I was absolutely disgusted and said that I didn't want to proceed with the booking. I was then advised that I would be charged a £135 cancellatio ...- Read Guest's review (135 words)

I booked a holiday with Sunsave on 30 July - I have been trying to contact since then to sort out. When they phoned me to confirm the holiday they told me that the cost had gone up, I told them I could get cheaper elsewhere so wanted to cancel - I was told if I wanted to cancel I'd lose £300 for the accommodation as they'd already booked this and the flight was just booked out of courtesy so I had to go ahead and book. They then debited more money from my bank account as didnt tell me of t ...- Read Guest's review (235 words)

Felt badly let down by SunSave/Icelolly (parent company)
Thought I was booking online but was contacted by an operative afterwards who raced through additional costs, related to transfers and baggage. I was then asked me to confirm an add-on cost, which I though was for baggage, of £5.98 each (bag I thought), only a few seconds later I discovered they were talking about Five Hundred and Ninety Eight pounds per person.
This added over £170 to the cost of our 7 night holiday to Majorca ...- Read Rhona Allan's review (159 words)

SUNSAVE - NEVER USE THEM
Would definately not book with THEM if my life depended on it. I was quoted £200 for the holiday over the phone, then told to go through the booking process online where I had to enter my card details, and they would ring me back with my booking details. They rang me back then proceeded to contact the airline and hotel for prices and availability. I was told the holiday was now £550!!!! I said not to bother too expensive, I was told they would charge me a c ...- Read caroline1725's review (213 words)

Not a good experience at all with sunsave! Holiday price advertised was increased by £53 per head with charges they didnt mention from start until u agree to the holiday then they said we couldnt cancel it so as would still have pay in full so had no choice but to pay then when I looked at the final charges on my card there was an additional £50 added that we knew nothing about! Not helpful at all when I emailed about the further extra £50, told me it was a card charge even tho ...- Read Guest's review (112 words)

I booked a Sunsave holiday and gave my card details. They phoned to confirm 48 hrs later and was really annoyed that price had gone up £300. This was due to luggage costs , airport taxes and transfers. When i told them i didnt want the holiday i had to pay £60 to cancel the accomodation side of things. They shouldnt be allowed to get off with that.- Read lewisbea's review (66 words)

We booked to Tenerife last September with Sunsave. Have to say I felt sick after reading the reviews! One week before due to leave no tickets had arrived and I thought that was it! After a phone call they reassured me the tickets had been sent out, Tickets arrived within a few days, holiday was excellent, hotel everything, I couldn't have asked for better.
Prices were at promoted on web site, I think you need to be willing to book there and then.Booked with credit card and they wavered the 3 ...- Read jmcwilliams's review (205 words)

I will not book through these people again, I will use a travel agent in town - I can at least see what I am getting then.
Hotel I'd originally seen on the internet was "not available anymore" They found another hotel nearly £200 pound more? I asked them to confirm the pool was in the same hotel and not across the road as my mother is 80 and they confirmed it was. It wasn't it was across the road on the 6th floor.- Read Guest's review (166 words)
