A beautiful publication. Interesting. Relevant. Informative. Junior is a beautifully put together magazine. The visuals are inspirational and most of the articles are interesting and relevant to the target market. The magazine is on trend so there's a certain amount of acknowledgement from the team at the magazine that parents don't lose the desire to be hip or trendy when they become parents.
The magazine places too much emphasis on baby fashion and perhaps too little emphasis on core parenting information. The spreads are beautiful to look at but one has to wonder if dressing baby up isn't really one of the smallest aspects of parenting that bears little if any true significance in light of the many complex and difficult tasks facing parents. In one of their recent issues the magazine has dedicated a double page spread to a very clean, white visual of a sleeping baby and the heading of the article. No information is offered on either of these two pages and you have to turn the page before the article begins. As a consumer and the editor of an equally gorgeous overseas parenting publication, I find this a huge indulgence on the part of the editorial and creative staff when what a reader is paying for is the information provided on the pages.
