“5* service ”

★★★★★

written by Jaqqui on 16/02/2024

If you’re going to buy a car go to Evans Halshaw Ford Cardiff. I have experienced the best customer service from the team but particularly Julius Robinson what a lovely friendly, helpful man. Nothing was too much trouble, he was professional and so helpful. Buying a car can be a minefield but agent made it easy. I don’t have enough words to say what a positive experience it was. I can’t recommend Evans Halshaw enough.

written by Byrron on 10/12/2018

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE took my car here last week so sell the offered £4100 online when I got there they went through paper work and took it for a test drive on there own when it came back glow plug light was on and said steering rack was gone and offered me £3000 these lights had never come on before and the steering rack was fine i took the £3000 reluctantly because lights was on. and now 5 days later my vehicle is up for £2801 more than what was offered i think this is an absolute disgrace I know they would have to make a profit but i think this is just greed. i will never give them custom again or recommend them to anyone.

“Devoid of customer service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Wales2007 on 14/02/2018

My car was booked in for a service first thing in the morning as I had an appointment to attend in the afternoon. Was assured it would be ready for collection at 12:30. It is now 13:41 and it is still not ready. The staff appear totally disinterested in the fact that I will now miss my afternoon appointment. Was told I couldn't speak to a manager as he was "in a meeting" and couldn't determine a time he would be out. The staff here are totally devoid of any customer skills but are happy to take my money. I will not be returning to Evans Halshaw again.

“Agreed collection time after service not met”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/02/2018

Rubbish service from Evans Halshaw in Cardiff yet again this morning. Travelled 70 miles for a pre booked service to be finished by 12.30. Went back to pick up the car at 12.10 to be asked yo take a seat as it wasn't yet ready. Fair enough I was 20 minutes early. Some 40 minutes later I received an email (I was only sat across the waiting area) telling me there was an advisory on front brake pads @ £269. Interestingly I'd had the rears replaced a week earlier at £70! I went to the desk to query and asked when the car would be ready. After sitting down again I was informed that the car would be at least another hour. Just not good enough. When I booked, and when I dropped the car this morning I emphasised that I needed it ready by 12.30 for another appointment and was assured it would be. I only visit this place once a year for routine servicing and every year I go home feeling let down. Waste of time complaining as nothing is ever done and somehow the Service Manager is always in a meeting when you're looking for someone to complain to. Ive been a multi top of the range Vauxhall household for 35 years but I'll never deal with Evans Halshaw again. Rubbish service full of broken promises with little or no remorse.

“Avoid as they have no customer care.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KiraMiller on 05/01/2017

I decided to downsize my Jaguar XF, having given up caravanning, and decided upon a Ford Fiesta ST. Saw a low mileage ex demo ST at the Newport Road premises, went along, but they were unable to give me a part ex price, as it "was such a nice car they would have to contact Jaguar". The car itself was a 2010 model, you'd think that I was trying to part ex the Crown Jewels ! It took 2 days for someone to contact me with what I thought was too low a price, so I asked if they would offer more. The very unhelpful salesman said they would try again at Jaguar. A further 3 days passed, and I rang them, they said that Jaguar wouldn't up thier price, so I asked why hadn't anyone contacted me, the salesman gave a half hearted apology. I went to the dealership and spoke to the used car sales manager, who said he would try for a higher price for my Jag. A few days passed with no telephone call, so I again rang them, I explained that if they gave me an extra £500 for my car I would do the deal, to which the dealer replied, "We don't negotiate!" Top and bottom I found the sales staff very unhelpful, and no it's not sour grapes, they never kept me in the loop, and I had to keep ringing them. Whilst there on one occasion, I had made an appointment for 1 pm but was seen at 1.30 pm, there was a husband and wife and 2 young kiddies who had turned up at midday to pick up a new car, but when we left at 2.30 pm it was still in the workshop, Lord knows what time they had it. On the plus side went to Fordthorne, bought an identical vehicle, obtained my asking price, ha a free service thrown in, and the staff bent over backwards to help.

“Their slogan should be 'wear and tear'”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Isabellan203 on 09/09/2016

Vauxhall on Sloper Road always seem to find an issue with and accept no responsibility. 2 sets of front brakes in 6 months (3250 miles). Apparently it's just bad luck, and wear and tear that things happen - once I can stand, more than that, and you know they just have pound signs in their eyes. Use a small independent company instead, I've learned the hard way.

“Poor management of team who have little customer care”

★★☆☆☆

written by 1957RossiItalian on 07/09/2016

Purchased a used vehicle and after waiting 3 weeks for an agreed replacement widescreen was told on day of collection they had filled the chip instead. After complaining I was offered pure guard treatment interior and exterior for free and car mats. Upon collection I had suspicions that the interior has not been done so did the water test. After sending video to the dealer they agreed it looked like it had not been done properly. After chasing 1 week later I found out the salesman who sold the car had up and left and no one knew anything about my issues. Poor service

“Disgusting company!! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Tango1793 on 25/06/2016

My partner recently got approved for finance for a brand new Vauxhall Corsa down Sloper Road Cardiff. He was walking 5 miles there and back just to be messed around with. Seemed as if they needed to know the ins and outs of a cats behind! He even walked away with the credit agreement and was told the Corsa that was his was the one outside. At first my partner wasn't too happy as the car was stinking and had fingerprints all over it but then didn't mind as such as gathered the car would be cleaned. My partner then walked back down there to be told that that one wasn't his and they had to order it from somewhere in England I think it was Birmingham. We didn't mind this as we new it would be spotless and no one else wouldn't have been in it. We waited and waited for a phone call to be told when it would arrive but heard nothing so my partner rung to then be told that there was a problem and that he now didn't earn enough (even though he gave a wage slip and bankstatements) and got approved for finance at the best rate at the beginning of all of this. Apparently because my partner is only 25 he technically is not classed as an adult and needed his mum or dad with a wage who drove to sign the agreement! Bearing in mind my partners dad died in a tragic accident when my partner was only a few months old and his mum passed away from cancer a few years ago. They asked if he could use his uncle and put him down as his dad because they got the same last name it shouldn't be a problem. ( at this stage I thought it was a bit dodgy) they told my partner all they needed was his wage slip so my partner managed to get hold of what they asked for and they said they would ring the following morning at 10am which was today. At 10.30 my partner still heard nothing so rang them and palmed his off with so and So is in the middle of something he will ring you back. An hour went by and he finally rang back to state they needed literally everything his uncle owned ranging from a passport to a drivers licence and a few other unnecessary things it just all got too much after a very stressful and upsetting week regarding all of this so my partner has just decided to cancel and it has put him off hire purchase alltogether! After endless times of being told he would be ring back and never was. Ringing up and being put on hold for up to 20mins just to be hung up on. Absolutely disgusting would not recommend these to my worst enemy glad we pulled out when we did before being tied to a 4 year contract with this terrible company and wish I read the reviews sooner!

“Left with a bad taste after Car Service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/06/2016

A service, MOT and welding of 2 brackets on exhaust clamp completed on 20th May. Took my car home and reversing into drive, found that park assist which I had had no problem with prior to having the service and MOT, had ceased to work showing park assist was faulty, also service light flashing. I immediately phoned Evans Halshaw Cardiff who asked me to bring car to them on the following Monday. Investigation took up a chunk of the day on Monday 23rd and when we saw the Service Reception they advised parking sensor was broken. I re-iterated it was working perfectly before I took it for service and MOT on 20th May. I was told it was a "coincidence" that it had broken on the day it was brought in for a service !! I was given a cost of £86 approx for a new one. This was totally unacceptable, also I knew without doubt that there was no problem with park assist otherwise I would have told the Service Reception on bringing the car in on to have a look at it. We were getting nowhere with the Service Reception regarding the "coincidentally" broken park assist, so asked to see the Service Manager who said a new park assist would be fitted at no cost to me. This situation could have been avoided, customer care lacked and is not the level of customer care we expected from a main Citroen dealership !!! We were left with a 'bad taste' especially as we have dealt with Evans Halshaw for the past 8-10 years approx. Whether a new or existing customer, good customer care is essential and an important reflection of the Company. We were extremely disappointed it did not happen on this occasion and will not be returning for our next purchase or servicing.

“Go somewhere else! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Milo282 on 04/06/2016

Paid 12k last august for a Citreon DS3, it has had a fault since we bought it, the engine judders violently when cold and feels like its going to stall. They have allegedly changed the spark plugs and coil pack but to no avail. The manager told me today that no fault shows up on the computer so it must just be the way the car is! They have essentially washed their hands of it and have recommended that i take the car elsewhere for a second opinion. Absolutely disgusting service made worse by the fact that my husband is recovering from throat cancer and I have had to try to deal with this issue myself. They have our money and couldn't care less. Do yourself a favour, take your hard earned cash and go elsewhere. A. A. CAERPHILLY

“absolutely disgusting service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AngelA23 on 03/06/2016

We bought a Citroen DS3 from Evans halshaw on hadfield rd, Cardiff, last August and very quickly it became apparent that there was a fault in that it judders when stopped at junctions and lights when the engine is cold. It has been back to the garage on about 6 occasions, they have changed spark plugs and coil pack so they say! But it still juđders. Nothing is showing up on the computer so they haven't got a clue! I have had a woman on the service desk shouting at me down the phone and have now been told by the service manager that there is no fault, it's just the car!! He rudely suggested that I take the car to another garage for a second opinion. I am struggling to deal with all this while working full time and caring for my husband who has cancer.Shocking service, rude staffs, if you're thinking of getting a new car go elsewhere, once they have taken your money they don't give a damn!

“False advertising ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Shafferiq118 on 26/05/2016

Seen a car ford focus to be exact advertised on the web site rang up was told to come down the car was there ready to go etc gets down there only to be told the car had been in an accident the day before and was going to be in the garage for a few days it was only needing a head lamp replacement so went ahead put a deposit down. Two weeks on and they have rang 8 times trying to palm us off with other cars for more money also cheaper cars the excuse is that the cars at the back of the que in the garage now they are claiming a drink driver drove into the forecourt and smashed a few cars up so the garage are saying around a two week wait for a headlight to be fixed. What a load of rubbish.

“waste of 2 hours.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SelenaHuffman7 on 06/03/2016

I phoned up to ask if a certain car was still in stock and the receptionist I spoke with confirmed that it was and then took dome details from me. I was then sent a confirmation email for my appointment to tesr drive the car. So far I was very impressed. However it very quickly went downhill from here. When I arrived I felt like no one was expecting me. It then took around 10 minutes for a gentleman to find the keys to the car. Then the battery was flat. After a further wait he produced a jump starter to charge the battery and start the car. However there was now no petrol in the car. I'm now waiting for petrol. The petrol arrives after a long wait. He now needs a funnel to pour the petrol into the car. This time I am waiting even longer. I look at my watch and it's taken over an hour. Eventually after what seemed like an eternity as it was cold outside the person I dealt with arrives with the funnel. We both jump in the car and I think this is it. We're off to test the car. NO. I am wrong. He now needs to go and get some trade plates. I am now starting to wonder if this is all some sort of an elaborate hoax to see if I would be patient enough to go 90 minutes of waiting. Eventually I did get to go out in the car. Although after the dreadful experience of having to endure a game of waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting I resigned to the fact that the customers experience is not a consideration of the salesmen. Such a pity after a great start with the receptionist welcome and professional looking booking system.

“Very Good”

★★★★☆

written by 423Little on 13/02/2016

I have seen a lot of negative reviews for this dealership and I almost did not use them because of that. But my experience has been very different to others on here. I found the staff very polite. They were not pushy at all. He even told his trainee to leave us alone with the car to look at it in our own time. When I said I needed some time to think about it, that was fine, again there was no pushiness. The purchase of the car was easy. Communications between me and the dealership were excellent and the car was ready to collect when they said it would be. I have no complaints with the buying process at all. Why haven't I given 5 stars? Because no matter how good you are, there is always room for improvement.

“I will NEVER set foot in ANY Evans Halshaw garages...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JettStrong on 26/11/2015

I will NEVER set foot in ANY Evans Halshaw garages again!!! I wanted to buy a brand new Vauxhall Corsa from Evans Halshaw Cardiff went through the normal process of answering questions for finance etc etc. When I rang the garage the next day to check status on the car they said that they were still waiting for a decision from the finance company. After FIVE days and sending more proof of who I was to the finance company I got concerned, I spoke to the underwriters directly as my application had been referred. The underwriters stated that my time at each address didn't match that of the system checks. It only then accured that the sales person added a couple extra years into my application for each address to 'make it look better'!!!! Now by my books this is fraud with intent to deceive! I then told them I want the car cancelled. They then made me drive 30 miles to get my deposit back but instead of telling me on the phone they can't process it until the following Monday, I drove 30 miles to have my details written on a piece of paper which was left on the sales mans desk!!! Apart from that I had bad customer service for the whole week, no communication regarding the finance application and I had to keep chasing them, failing to return my calls. I even complained to the garage owner who also couldn't be bothered to return my call, not even for an apology. I should have learned not to buy from Evans Halshaw when my partner had bad customer service and also tried to get us to sign the finance agreement with balloon payments they told us wouldn't be part of the finance and also without going through it first at Evans Halshaw in Cardiff Citroen!! So if you want bad customer service, the possibility of them putting false information on the finance application. Then this is the place for you!

“Dreadful customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LaneySnyder176 on 26/11/2015

I will never use the Citroen dealership again. They gave the impression that they would provide ongoing support and after care making promises that they have not been fulfilled. Any attempt to point this out is brushed off and threats made to hang up. Departments clearly do not speak to each other. Like the car but not the service.
