WARNING - STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN. If you do purchase make sure you update the map within 30 days as your map will be at least 3 quarters out of date on day of purchase. If you don't do this TOM TOM will charge you £40 to update the current map AND £40 to subscribe for a year.

    Customer service are extremely poor.

Unit frequently loses voice output. TOM TOM have looked at it and stated there's no problem ! Yet it still frequently loses the voice.

No room on there for new maps and certainly no MP3s, so no way can you store music.

The phone connection via blutooth for hands free is flakey and sound quality is EXTREMELY poor, unusalble in fact.

With all that in mind it really is advisable to avoid TOM TOM.

Great satnav shame about the backup, mine went wrong during a download seven months ago and Tom Tom cant rectify the fault. It will not switch off properly and to use it one has to reset it each time it is used!

When contacted today to ask what is happening the response was:-Whilst we understand your frustrations here until the developers can resolve this there is unfortunately nothing further that I can do to assist you here .

They are happy to sell Updated maps, voices and speed camera info ...

Good unit , tom tom go is better than old tom tom one i used to own. Easy to use and nice clear screen . Only downside is the suction holder , very unstable other than that it's great.

Disappointing, I have used Tom Tom previously on a PDA and had no problems, having used it for a number of years the maps were getting out of date. I noticed more map errors on my new Tom Tom almost as soon as I started using it, this was after updating to the latest maps. The level of errors was apparent more quickly than when I started using my old GPS years ago. I have reported the errors but it would appear maps are not updated frequently, these are errors that are years old not just recent. ...

buy another brand so you don't have to put up with the support issues at tom tom go, or go back to the old melways.
what a shame as when you buy more than one you get an understanding the unit actually works well< as long as it continues to work.

think the device will work quite well on the road. Support is poor, they will do anything but help you. They keep refering you to FAQ, when FAQ doesnt answer, I want an answer for a product that I paid almost 600$ for.

I cant even get to email them without digging and digging through the web site and when they answer they refer me back to the website talk about complete disconnect.

Try another brand with a better customer care. Trying to deal with the Tom Tom website and customer services is the worst experience I have ever had with any other product in my entire life and I am not young! Mine also got sent away and came back with exactly the same fault as it had had in the beginning, I had to start the whole process again. Tomorrow I am going to buy another make which is why I happened upon this website in the first place.

A basically good product until you have a problem. My Tom Tom 730 just cut out and then try and resolve the problem! Spend 30 minutes trying to solve the problem off the web site which of course you can't, you decide to phone, another 20 mins trying to find a number. You then find it and ring a premium number of course, but they are far too busy to speak to you and tell you to ring back later. You ring back later, of course they have all gone home by then and its too busy next day etc.
    Until the ...

I Like the overall functions of the Tom Tom 730 sat nav, it is very easy to use, find the sat very fast and always on track. It is also quick to re rout if you get off track.
Overall I really like this but I hope they can fix the quality of their screens.

The sat nav is the best tom tom to go for for the majority of us, the TomTom 730 has all the features of the Tom Tom 930 just without the us and canada mapping, so I would reccomend it, and the 329 price tag in Halfords can be dropped to 279 if you take in a print off of tescos price.

Would it be possible in the future for sat nav units like the TomTom GO 730 to include low bridges, and width restrictions in the POI's for HGV Drivers like myself without having to pay extra for them, as the Tomtom 730 unit I have cost over £300.

Overall I would recommend the TomTom 730 unit although the Traffic feature is not great so going for the 730T over the 730 is probably not worth the extra expense. Although TomTom are promising an improved system in the near future.

Would be better if manual input to the TomTom Go 730 phone book was allowed and voice navigation to home and favorites.

I recommend the TomTom 730. The dialog version of address input works remarkably well. The speech to text is also very good. Some pronuciations can be humorus!

Prices for the TomTom 730 sat nav are very high. I dont understand. Halfords were selling it for 279.99 and all of a sudden they changed it to 329.99 why? All the website are selling for 300 pounds.
