Good Points: showroom
Bad Points: parking, stock on display, pricing, part exchange, attitude of staff, warranties.
General comments: My partner and i's experience of Motorpoint the " The UK's Number 1 Car Supermarket" is that in actual fact if there were 100 car supermarkets in the uk then they would be "The Uk's number 100th Car Supermarket"! Terrible parking, there seem to be 5-6 cars of the same model on display, and plenty of different models in their storage facility that you can't see-even you've driven 70 odd miles to do so! After a mild confrontation with a member of staff he agreed to take me to see the other cars available situated at the back of the premises. The cars were mostly dirty, which is to be expected i suppose after being transported from A-B-we were informed however not to worry as if we bought a car it would be valeted for us....for 62.13 that is!? We like most people had a car we wanted to get rid of quickly and easily, ie drive it to collect our new car and leave it with them to dispose for us. Motorpoint do offer this service-but be prepared for what can only be described as an extremely low offer. Fair enough, we were saving 600 compared to the dealer, but after the valeting, number plate and warranty costs we only managed to save 250.
Infact it strikes me that the way Motorpoint makes the bulk of their profits is through extremely strong emphasis/sales tactics on warranties, GAP insurance etc etc-all of which can be bought from, your insurance company, Halfords or over the internet for a fraction of the price. We however initially decieded to top the warranty back up to 3 years for 249-we were informed by our local main dealer though, that this didn't need to be done as all Uk vehicles have a standard 3 years manufacture's warranty. Ours however was void as the car was 7000 miles outside it's service intervals when we purchased it. We contacted Motorpoint to explain this to be told we should have looked into it more thoroughly prior to purchasing the vehicle and that we'd signed a form to say we were happy with the car in it's supplied condition etc! We accept that, but can't help feeling disgusted that "The Uk's Number One Car Supernarket" treated us (and most likely many others) in such a manner.
My friends and family have all purchased cars previously from Motorhouse in Cannock, we, and to my knowledge anyone else, never had any of the above experiences with them and will be sure to return to them next time.
