The Inspiron 1525 is THE WORST laptop I've ever had the misfortune of being screwed out of my hard earned money for. Nothing by misery from day one - The wireless card was never compatible with Windows apparently and things just went down hill from there. I replaced the keyboard whilst still under warranty but it crashes regularly despite being kept up to date with anti virus and windows updates etc and I've never installed anything untoward on it. To summarise - THE WORST LAPTOP IN THE WORLD and Dell are scum bags! You'd be better off flushing your money down the toilet as it would be less frustrating and about as much use.

THE SLOWEST IN THE WORLD AND IT WAS BAD EXPERIENCE WITH DELL

so many different problems over a short period of, me and my brother both got the same laptop as it was the cheapest one at the time, so far my hard drive has blown because of the wiring, it has power problems which means it can turn off at any time unexpectedly making me scared to do work just incase i loose it, my brothers laptop however this laptop does not recognise the battery at all, and the laptop appears to think the delete button is pressed down constanly making it delete anything you have clicked on which is unbelieveabley annoying! My advice would be to stay well away from a dell as they want nothing to do with you after its been bought even though they claim my problem to be one with the mother board meaning it should never have left the factory, pay the little extra.

Ok, well I have had two of these machines, the first one Dell Sent me had 3 new hard drives, 3 new motherboards, 1 new set of speakers, 1 new keyboard and each repair (repaired 5 times!), i never abused the machine, all it ever did was sit on my desk, then I had enough so on Dell Support after 2 hours and alot of moaning they sent me a new replacement. 9 Months down the line with this NEW model of the 1525 the machine is freezing, blue screens of death, crashing and overheating. Sent it back to Dell and they put a new hard drive in. 2 days after getting it back, the internal CPU fan broke, the machine overheats constantly through no cooling so they want to put a new motherboard, hard drive, heatsink, fan in it. Customer support it ok, considering the trouble but the constant repairs have taken their toll to my passion for dell. If you want a laptop to turn your hair grey, make you want to throw it out the window and have buckets of money to waste. I have found your solution, meanwhile this student is going back to Apple Macintosh, and Toshiba. I would not purchase another dell laptop ever again. Every internet review claims they last 1 year thats it. Well if any review is worthwhile, then listen to me - DO NOT PURCHASE A DELL INPIRON 1525 notebook unless you want to waste money. Ok their maybe a few 'good working' machines i am sure, but they are few and far between. In fact by the sounds of things, steer clear of Dell SMT technology, and never by a laptop from this company. And if you want to risk it, make sure that you make sure every kink and breakage happens within 7 days otherwise dell will steal your money with no return! Most poorly designed, cheap hardware i have ever come accross!

This laptop is shockingly bad. About a month after purchase we first had problems with it. First it was the CD drive and memory card slot not working. Since then we have had numerous problems with it. It is also very slow, in fact my 8 year old computer (not a Dell!) is faster. Now after the waranty has run out the laptop is barely useable. The battery life is awful. Beware of this laptop, I certainly wouldn't purchase another Dell computer again.

This Dell Inspiron 1525 should not be purchased. Blunt, I Know. The machine is built to a very low budget which shows in its plastic feel. Yet for me, as an inspiron owner, my frustration is more with dell as a company than the machine itself. The Computer is incredibly loud, give it one month and you will notice significant slowing of the machine and a plethora of physical and software faults.
My machine now only functions with the internet in safe mode, for this dell want sixty pounds to fix. I had to send it away for two weeks to replace its battery, a problem that has since returned, and will now, i am told, not be fixed without more money. The absolute frustration with this problem, especially considering the problem first occured whilst in warranty, not to mention the inconvenience of such repairs goes beyond words. It seems dell, who care not for your customer satisfaction, see you simply as an opportunity to drain of money for repairs, for thier truly dreadful laptops. I advise anyone considering to buy a dell inspiron, or even a dell, to reconsider, Icertainly never will.

I bought a pink Inspiron 1525 for my daughter, her first laptop. Looks great but discovered within hours that it wouldn't download from the internet. To cut a long story short I've had to spend a whole day onto DELL software support [don't know what that cost yet] + pay a £57 'software support charge' to correct what the tech rep said was corrupt software [on a product straight out of the box??]. Machine works now, but never again. As for DELL customer services...... "terms and conditions" stipulate we're not responsible for software problems, only hardware. That issue is still open....so be warned. Take my advice, buy from another company.

I previously had a Dell Dimension (desktop) and was generally happy with it, but it was 5 years old and time to move on. I wanted a laptop to get rid of all the clutter that comes with a desktop, though against my instincts I went with Dell again... and am kicking myself for it now. Yes, the desktop was fine, but Dell's customer service--and I use that term loosely--is so horrible that I swore I'd never buy another. Yet here I am.
The Inspiron is just okay. Generally it works fine and speed is okay. However, for some annoying reason it won't play certain videos. The most annoying thing, though, is that I constantly get these error messages that are totally irrelevant. For example, if I close out of a program by clicking the X in the top right corner, I'll get an error message that says, "Such & such program accidentally ended." No, it didn't accidentally end, I closed it! This happens A LOT. Also, it has a mind of its own when it comes to closing the lid. Sometimes it hibernates, sometimes it restarts itself. Very annoying. My brother-in-law has the same model and he dislikes his, too. Same issues.
Some people have commented that it's really lightweight and sleek. Sleek, yes; lightweight, no. I'm not sure what kind of brick laptop they're used to toting around, but I wouldn't qualify this as lightweight.

The fan comes on continually, even when in Hibernate, and it is very loud. Dell tricked me into sending it for repair, didn't repair it, and then said it was too late to return it. After 5 hours on the phone, they sent me a new one - as noisy as the first and the wireless card was defective besides.
I've always had a Dell, but the customer service yhas been unhelpful I have found.
