Bought Nov 2008. Great to start with but battery has been dead for last 2 years. New ones very expensive so I just use mains. System gets hot and crashes occassionally. Issues starting to creep in with loading. At time of writing I've been trying for over an hour to boot the thing up! Seriously thinking of getting all my stuff off this laptop and putting it onto a Samsung, which my family have. (read more)

The Inspiron 1525 is THE WORST laptop I've ever had the misfortune of being screwed out of my hard earned money for. Nothing by misery from day one - The wireless card was never compatible with Windows apparently and things just went down hill from there. I replaced the keyboard whilst still under warranty but it crashes regularly despite being kept up to date with anti virus and windows updates etc and I've never installed anything untoward on it. To summarise - THE WORST LAPTOP IN THE... (read more)

As a teenager I mainly use my laptop for school work and social networking sites and this laptop has been very good in doing all of that. The hardrive did break after a year but Dell replaced it free of charge :) . The computer also has enough memory for the Sims 2 plus 4 expansion packs which is an added bonus. And after 18months of pretty much constant use the battery life is still pretty good. Overall a great laptop for the price. (read more)

I got this "Free" with AOL broadband/phone deal. However after about 18 months I unplugged it from the power and it went off. Put it back on charge, for a while, same thing again. Bough new power supply £40 Maplins, same problem. Found problem is power socket centre pin, put 1cm very thin wire inside centre hole, bent over to an L shape, suddenly charging works fine. However original battery is worn out. Bought new battery (not Dell original much cheaper, better capacity ones out there if... (read more)

Had this laptop for 18 mths. Not a sniff of a problem.
Dell allows you to customise which I did, increasing the ram and processor. Programmes load fast. Much better than my previous Toshiba Satellite, which needed to be sent back after 3 months, due to cooling probs.
I'm very pleased with this laptop and would recommend another to anyone.

if i had to be picky the screen seems a little too easily moved when picking up the latop.

i think from my experience that 1525 has very strong keypads(better of course than hp) and it has very modern look not found in other dell models. well, the dell inspireon 1525 is a very good laptop, in general. The graphics card is not very good, so I wouldn't recommend this laptop for gamers. This laptop is shockingly bad. About a month after purchase we first had problems with it. First it was the CD drive and memory card slot not working. Since then we have had numerous problems with it. It is also very slow, in fact my 8 year old computer (not a Dell!) is faster. Now after the waranty has run out the laptop is barely useable. The battery life is awful. Beware of this laptop, I certainly wouldn't purchase another Dell computer again. (read more)

This Dell Inspiron 1525 should not be purchased. Blunt, I Know. The machine is built to a very low budget which shows in its plastic feel. Yet for me, as an inspiron owner, my frustration is more with dell as a company than the machine itself. My machine now only functions with the internet in safe mode, for this dell want sixty pounds to...

I bought my Inspiron 1525 nearly a year ago (with Vista home Premium software), and can honestly say that it is by far the best computer for home use I ever had. The keys are easily visible even in poor light, and the general layout is excellent.
Excellent value, truly great. And should the need ever arise for servicing - no intermediaries, all taken care of directly by Dell.

Yes, the desktop was fine, but Dell's customer service--and I use that term loosely--is so horrible that I swore I'd never buy another. Yet here I am.

I bought an Inspiron 1525 which arrived quickly and without any issues. However I use the laptop for work when abroad. If I'm just editing a Word doc or Spreadsheet it's absolutely fine.
The DVD player is fine but the speakers are poor so you'll need separate speakers or headphones. Cheap and cheerful/good back up but you probably need to upgrade to something more powerful if you plan on doing a lot of work.

The Dell Inspiron 1525 is a really consumer friendly laptop. It has a low price for great features. Even the lowest grade one is good! It does get slow sometimes, but consider Vista likes more RAM than 1 GB and that it is an Intel Celeron processor and it is awesome. (read more)

Its not exactly a gaming laptop - more of a working thingy so the graphics card really sux, but when ur into gaming you shouldnt be buying this one anyways.
What annoys me sometimes is that the dvd drive opens randomly, I dont think thats a general problem though, and it doesnt happen very often either.
No other problems so far.
