If you have a Nokia 5110 mobile phone - keep it; if you don't, buy one for the collection!

The Nokia 5110 is probably the most reliable phone i've ever had, its basicly indestructable and it does everything you need it to. Its a little big by todays standards but it still looks good.

Have been using it for the last 3 years. I would suggest this to any first time cell phone/hand phone (as Singaporeans call it) user Bad luck I need to change it now.... Worth buying a used one from the market too...if in dire need....specially when you have recently lost your existing one....

I have had my Nokia 5110 mobile phone for 3 years and have not had a problem in that time. The battery is now on it's way out, however I have practically lived on it since I got it. I bought a new phone yesterday (another Nokia) and wouldn't change brands for anything.

Sadly I still have my Nokia 5110 mobile phone and have had it for two years. It is a good phone, it does what you need and I haven't had any problems with it. However it isn't exactly "cool" as it is So old (can you even still buy them?!) but my only really complaint is not looking that stylish...but even worse I really want a new funky ringtone and my phones just too old!

If you think a Nokia 5110 can't look cool, just because it is old.. Think again!
Here is what to get, if you really want it to look good instead of buying a new cellphone. The prices are estimates as the pieces cost different in each shop, and since I live in an expensive country they can possibly be cheaper elsewhere:
A no antennae back cover, I got mine for $10 including expert change; it has better look and gets the radio waves really good aswell!
A slim or ultra slim battery, they both look really cool on a 5110! I got my slim battery second hand for $10 dollars. PS slim battery from Nokia lasts longer than the standard BMS battery (and weights a lot less).
A nice looking cover and some cool buttons to go with it, in my case it was a sleek black cover and black buttons. They cost 10 dollars together.
And for about 12 dollars you can get the leds for lightning the keypad and display changed aswell, to either blue for nice, friendly look or red, for the demonic look.

I think it is possible to get new ringtones for a 5110, if it is manufactured after the mid 2000 then it should be able to recive ringtones. (Unconfirmed tho, my phone is from start of 2000)

Oh well, I don't expect many want to waste time on making there old cellphone look better... But since everyone has these new fancy phones which have keys that are SO tiny you have to use all sort of tricks to push 'em, I hope it inspires someone to make there old Nokia 5110 look unique instead of buying a new one! (I have 4 phones, with the oldest one being a 5110, I still love that one the best ^_^ )

I brought a Nokia 5110 mobile phone off a mate for seven quid and it's a real workhorse. For its age it has loads of features which some phones of the same age lack. For instance it has interchangeable facias and it can recieve picture messages which a lot of older phones lack. These phones are well built and there are plenty about so you can get a good secondhand buy. overall a great buy. I'm looking to get a 3310 now tho ;-)

The Nokia 5110 is a great phone. I got mine 2 years ago and i still have it (in a cupboard somewhere!!). Although i now have 3330, i still take my 5110 to school, downtown etc. The removable facias can make your 5110 that bit more special. Also the downloadable logos can let YOU express YOUR feelings.

I have had this mobile phone for ages now, and believe me its had quite a bashing! it still looks good, and its lasted really well. compared to todays mobile phones, its nothing special, but its fine for those ppl who simply want a basic mobile. its not all that expensive, but it has quite a few features, so, no...i wouldnt discourage you from buying it

I had the Nokia 5110 mobile phone for the last two years. As mobile phone goes it works great. The battery life is fantastic. On one charge it has a standby time of about one week. Even after two years, with some battery care the standby time remains unchanged. I highly recommend it for those who recharge their phone infrequently.
Unfortunately, being "old" technology, the phone is larger than some of the newer models. With a leather case, the phone is quite large, and would be difficult to be carried in the pocket.
The ring tone is loud and clear, but there is no free space to upload ring tones - but it is a minor point as there are 30+ ring tones to choose from.
Overall, it is a great working phone. Not as sexy as the newer phones or have newer features (gimmicks) such as IR or voice dialling. But as a work horse use to receive and send calls, for the average Joe Bloggs it is great value.

Interesting Incidents of my Nokia 5110: It was a 1998 make, I was cheated by a foreign goods seller as new piece. I bought in Apr-01 for INR 4400. I gifted to my wife. I'm satisfied with the performance. Even if it gets dropped, it is working fine without any problem.

this was a good phone at the time, and remains so today due to it's customizability and battery life- mines nigh-on 2 years old and has one overnight charge to last the whole week!
the only significant problem with this mobile was that on both of them that i had, there was a problem with the actual phone, where the battery clips on.it wore away a bit, allowing the battery to slide slightly, and disconnect itself frequently during calls, texting etc...
i think it gave good reception and good audio quality, and the dawn of the best game ever to 'hit' a mobile phone-snake of course! you can still see people now trying to better thier absolute best score wherever you are, buses, railway stations etc......

The Nokia 5110 is indestructible, but heavy. The menus are very easy to navigate though it has hardly any features. It's actually fairly waterproof too. The sort of phone you can sling in the bottom of a bag and not worry about, unlike a lot of 'modern' pieces of plastic four times the price.

This phone has lasted me a few years, there hasn't been any problems with it. If there is one thing I don't like about it, it's that I can't get extra ringtones. But for the price that I paid with a vibrating battery on a prepaid plan it wasn't a bad price at all. I find this phone economical, especially on prepaid, and easy to use. The buttons are an excellent size, while the buttons on smaller phones, such as the 8250, or 8850 are VERY small and hard to touch. Overall, I rate this phone a 9/10. The one less point is because of the size, and that I can't get extra ringtones.

I have had this phone for about 8 months and love it. I have got about ten covers which I change with my mood or dress! It has all the functions that I need and is very, very easy to use. Not had any problems with the phone at all and would recommend it to anyone. Nothing fancy but does the job very well (bit like my husband!). For me, this is the best phone.

This is a good phone with lots of good features, and is only £40. A bit heavy, but you get used to it.

Yes, it is true that the 5110 is getting a little dated compared to the new phones coming out. But as long as a network will provide for this phone, I will use it. I don't want to launch the next NASA space rocket with my phone, I want to phone people and send texts. If you're the kind of person who needs the latest features, and the latest games/ringtones composers/email/fax/back scratchers etc, then look somewhere else. If you need something cheap and reliable to call your mates on a Friday night, and put funky covers on now and again, this is the one.

Overall a good entry level phone, pretty cheap, and very easy to use. If you could add ringtones to it, it would be a really good phone.

Overall a very good phone Nokia!
If you want to "follow the flock" go for this phone, everyones got it.
If you want to make a few heads turn when you use your mobile go for the new SONY one, Very cool.
Ideal for users who want to express themselves, Also comes with 3 games. but if you want more, more games than that. Hold on for a few months, Nokia are working on a new phone whereby you can DOWNLOAD new games off the net to your phone. Like it is now possible to download LOGOS and RINGTONES for others.
When first released, it was £99.99 for PASG
But you can now pick one up for £39.99. Great deal.
