    Don't believe the the bad reviews. We are Yorkshire folk and supposed to be tight and the Fish and Chip gourments as a region!

    The bad reviews are written no doubt by tight arses.

    Get in and try them, they are lovely.

    My hubby & I thought to try Rick Stein's Fish & Chip Shop as a take-away after having read a follower reviewer on this website and a good thing too as we arrived 3:05pm and they were closed! I had called the reservations line to get the times and no-one had returned my call! So i explained this to the lady and explained we had just come for the day to Cornwall (a round trip of 10 hrs - a business mtg caused this!) and demanded i be served as the fish & chips were right there in front of me and ...

    The food is fine but over-priced (as is most of Padstow). What really annoyed me was the queue for the single toilet which was ridiculous as those waiting line up past your table. It is really uncomfortable trying to enjoy the expensive fish and chips that you have just ordered, whilst a queue of cross-legged people watch you! I would not recommend Stein's Fish And Chips... go to their adjoining take-away and feel free to use the toilet if you wish!

    Stein's Fish And Chips Staff unbelievably rude. No ice, waited 10 minutes for a lukewarm lemonade. Cutlery bent and mis-shapen. Hopefully the food will be better. P

    well I'm sorry I did not enjoy rick stein's fish and chips at padstow! After a lovely day we wanted fish and chips and thought that Rick Stein's would be worth a try. It cost just under £20 for fish and chips x2 and two cokes but if they are good then I don't mind paying. I was very dissapointed, the fish was very nice but very small! and the chips were well... rubbish! My husband said he'd 'had better oven chips!' My local chippy is a 100% better! Whist we were there one customer walke ...

    The lemon sole and chips was excellent - great batter. The wait to get a table can be tiresome if you mistime your arrival as the restuarant is quite small - but it is worth the wait.

    The staff could be friendlier - although they are extremely busy - maybe this would improve if there were more staff or more space.

    Overall we would eat there again.

    Having just returned from Padstow (a lovely weekend overall), one thing I found completely unavoidable about this quaint harbour village in Cornwall was Rick Stein. it seemed that upon every corner I turned, there was his name again! A restaurant, a seafood school, shops, a couple of cafe's, a chip shop, a gift shop... you name it. Now I'm a foodie, and although perhaps not one of my favourite celebrity chefs, I have in the past been partial to the odd Rick Stein recipe... heck I've even watched ...
