Excellent service from Margaret Street store in the West End - staff were knowledgeable and gave good advice for the type of riding I will be doing. I ordered the bike through the Ride 2 Work scheme, again, all went smoothly via web interaction and on the phone. Arranged to have it delivered to my home. A text and email tells you on the day your time slot, two hours AFTER the time slot begins. “Customer service and range lacking”

They never answer the phone when you try to ring. I was dealing with one member of staff, he went off to look into something, and then came back and helped another customer. leaving me at the till like a plum. Another member of staff came to help, and he didn't seem to be able to use the till, and had to wait for the original member of staff to finally come over to help. “Long delivery time”

Ordered from Evans a bike bin and 2 bike covers. Very easy process to order online. Although I was sent emails and text messages the day before my goods were delivered they took a week to arrive. Delivery time could be improved but other than that Im happy. The bike covers aren't very good so will have to be sent back, so I will be testing out Evans returns policy too… Read Full Review

“Good, but aftersales could improve”

Overall, i am happy with Evans. The sales service and advice was great and stock availability and pricing is up there with the best. Aftersales wise however, there is much improvement required. My new bike was delivered with some small scratches on the head stock, which i was happy to live with, however, when the bike had it's first service, I aked the guy to see if he could polish them out and also look at an annoying squeak. “Saturday delivery problems ”

“Good prices, limited stock carried”

I'm a competent home mechanic hence I use Evans as a place to buy clothes (anything where I want to see the size / fit / material) of an item. The staff are normally friendly and are not afraid to talk to colleagues if they don't know or want a 2nd opinion. On the negative side, the range of items in stock is limited (as seems to be the trend in many shops these days). “Disappointed...!”

After using Evans Cycles on several previous occasions, without incident, I was most perturbed when they took payment for an item that was showing clearly as being in stock. As it turned out, said item was NOT in stock (even though it still showed as being a stock item on the product page!!!), unfortunately it was left to me to chase the item as the communication from Evans was non existent. Purchased my bike from the york store 8/11.Had a problem with the front brake and took it back to the shop the next day.The problem was with the brake cable and it was replaced there and then.I have been very pleased with the bike.One problem I have had is that the tyres dont hold there pressure for very long so and needed to be pump up just about every time Iused it.So I put Slime in both tubes.This made no difference and the Slime started blocking the valves.So I decided to replace the inner… Read Full Review

“New bike works, service wasn't great”

I wanted a new road bike, and got one. I dealt with the Holborn branch. I ordered 2 bikes to trial, which arrived 2 days after ordering. That was good. I dealt with the store-manager here, who was excellent; very helpful, knowledgeable and generally competent, presenting various options and explaining them well. “Various special orders”

If the stuff is on the shelves there isn't a problem. However.... One order for Shimano hub brake grease was not fulfilled after 3 months. There were supply problems at Madison and from Shimano - apparently. I gave up and ordered the same item from an on-line supplier and received it in two days. It takes far to long to receive goods to Australia form Evans. Compare to wiggle and CRC who has very respectable delivery times. Wiggle wins out with its cheaper shipping options. Please can the staff at the Cycle Point at Leeds railway station be given some training as to why they need to ask customers for their address when making a purchase. I don't mind giving the start of my postcode, which I understand helps with marketing etc. but the attitude of staff at the Cycle Point left a lot to be desired. I used the Evans website to buy a Ridgeback Scoot balance bike as a birthday present for my neice. I had it shipped to store in Thurrock as I've bought my own bike there and have found them to be extremely helpful. I paid by Paypal. I was contacted by the store a few days later to say that the bike had arrived, but that it had been damaged in transit. I live/ work in Bristol and have been looking for a bike. I researched on line and knew which one I wanted. I would prefer to buy locally than on line so decided to go to Evans Bristol becasue of their price promise. I asked for the bike I wanted. I had the same trouble with the exact same bike only a couple of days ago but I ordered mine through Tredz online. Two weeks later when it finally arrived (in afternoon) I had all the problems that you had with your bike, the chain issue really pi**ed me off and on top of that it came with no allen key, they said there would be one in the box to make adjustments but no there was none, it is getting returned tomorrow but I am really disappointed after everything to be returning it I was hoping to be up and riding on the thing!!!

Since you've gone through simillar online with the same bike what would you advise? I was oddly enough debating buying it from Evans after having no issues with them in the past but then after reading this I think I will have to change my mind and think of somewhere else to get it. I live in Scotland and am not near bike stores where I live.
