MS Commador. After doing 3 nile cruises before this one, our previous experience was one of luxury with marble and brass. The organisation by tompson was first class in every respect. But on arriving at the boat we were dissapointed as the exterior looked dirty. On entering the boat it looked drab and dull, mainly because the interior is dark wood which makes it look dated. The cabin was adequate but also dark and dated. But as the trip proceeded we tended to overlook the presentation and enjoyed the food which was always hot and well presented, with the waiters being very helpful and very friendly. The cabin staff and bar staff were always helpful as well and after a couple of days could remember your favourite tipple. The rep Jacquie was on the ball and kept everyone fully informed. Everywhere on the boat was clean and tidy but always looked a little dark. Unfortunately Egypt seems to be in crisis with the locals giving far more hastle than in recent years. And with tourism dropping like a stone I can only see problems ahead for them. We would return to this boat as we had a great time and met some great people.

We have just returned form the PNC Commodore cruise although it was a last minute booking accomodation and staff were excellent. The egyptologists on board were very knowledgable and entertaining and brought history to life. We went full board but were offered All Inclusive when we arrived which we did not think was very good value at a further £115 per person for the week. by not doing this we had extra money to spen d on the extra trip we wanted to do to Abu Simbel. The only problem with PNC is where they dock which is quite a way out of town and need a taxi to get in when docked in Luxor. We found the Thomson rep Siobhan to be very helpful and polite she was not intrusive but was always around if you needed her to answer a question. Maybe people that complained about her should think about how they actually speak to people considering she had a full compliment of guestd she did very well. One thing we did find strange was the lack of fish dishes on the menu it would have been nice to have a change from meat but having said that the standard of food was excellent. We had a cabin on the lower deck but did not have any problems with the noise or sleeping ast night it was always clean and well kept by the cabin steward. I did feel that the masseur may have had more customers if the prices were a bit lower as they were the same as I would pay in England for the same thing. Overall though a thorughly enjoyable holiday

I was a little concerned after reading reviews on the Commodore but we were all pleasantly surprised. We were aged 48, 48, 58, 73. The rooms need to be refurbished but what a fabulous chef, the food was superb and the staff were friendly. The best part of the cruise for me was watching life on the Nile as we floated past. The excursions were just amazing and our guide Ragar was the best. We made lots of friends good company, good food good staff what more could you ask for? We upgraded to all inclusive for £99 per person and it was was well worth it. My step daughter must be the only person to get her money's worth in water alone. Would I recommend this holiday to others, yes I would. Thank you to all the staff on board the Commodore.

We traveled on the MS Nile Commodore. I was a little concerned having read a number of reviews about the boat being tired in appearance and the quality of the food. However, this was misplaced as the boat , staff , food and trips were of the highest quality. For breakfast there are choices of cereals, variety of eggs , croissants , breads ,hot food etc. The lunches were better and the deserts were to die for.The evenings are more formal and you are served at your table to a set menu 9 4 Courses). These are different every night and of a good standard. I had no issues with the food at all. In some reviews they talk about the drinks being expensive - these are the current prices - small bottle of water 5 LE pounds , large water 10 LE pounds. Small beer from 25 to 30 LE pounds ( bottle and draft ) Glass of wine 25 LE pounds ( my wife and her friend liked it ) Spirits were a lot more expensive. Our exchange rate was about 8 LE pounds to our £.
The trips were excellent with the Valley of the Kings being my personal favourite. The trips are made in the morning. Breakfast usually between 7am and 8am for an 8am onto the coach. Usually back on the boat by mid day.
I loved the whole experience, the boat , staff ( superb) and ancient sites. Weather averaged about 42 degrees. Nothing better sailing down the Nile in the afternoon with a cool beer.

This was our secod trip aboard ms Commodore and we were delighted to see familiar faces who also recognised us after two and a half years. We went to relax & recharge our batteries and cannot fault the ever accommodating staff Bad points in our opinion. Half measures of very expensive local lager ( £5 stirling ) and non use of measure (usually bottle top) of shorts ( £6 stirling) & then not even full cap full. Staff seemed embarrassed when this was pointed out. Over all a great holiday but prices seem to have doubled & more since last visit. Commodore is spotlessly clean, food good, entertaiment ok, staff absolutely terriffic. Egypt....... wont be returning. Ever.
