Good Points: Reliability, economy, handling, comfort, load space, toughness, refinement, value for money, cheap insurance (group4)
Bad Points: Sluggish acceleration, hard to work on (mainly due to limited space under bonnet) tiny glovebox (due to airbag fitment on later models), smaller controls (eg. heater) hard to see at night, some "luxury"/ electrical ancilliaries of low quality. Expensive tax bracket.
General comments: I have had one of the last of these cars for 3 years now and it has given sterling service over all. it has gone through 3 MOTs ( 2 straightaway & 1 with very minor work). It has never failed to start, stop or keep going as required, will swallow huge lods for its size and has only had to have "service" items (exhuast bits/tyres etc. replaced.
It averages 43-53 mpg on a mixture of roads, and that's with me driving (the original Schumacher!), and the handling, ride and comfort seem to be borrowed from a car twice the price.
My main niggle is the "extras" (CD player, Air Con, rain-sensitive wipers) have all packed up. I replaced the CD with an upgrade, but haven't bothered with the rest .
Although this car isn't perfect, it's still the best all-round car I've had, and I will run it for many years to come!
