Was contacted by a nice sales person from Portableuniverse yesterday explaing the situation with the fire and how there christmas stock has been destroyed. I belive they have temporarly relocated. I was promised my machine today and thank god it has just arrived and looks very good. So many thanks keep up the good work

I ordered my laptop on 01 December 2009. Today I received an email asking me to contact them. I spoke to a really friendly guy who looked at my account and advised me that the laptop I ordered wasn't in stock but he would send me a slightly better one for no extra charge. I have googled it and it doesn't appear to be, although maybe the condition is better. Who knows. The guy was really pleasant and has now arranged for my laptop to be sent out. After ordering my laptop for my daughter for xmas on the 2 Dec and paying for fast delivery- I am still waiting. My lap top shoud have been sent out prior to the 'fire'. This firm is no longer contactable, you can email them - but they do not reply. Odd but they have copies of the orders but can not return e mails ?
The accrediation they had has been removed so I understand due to an number of outstanding complaints.

Ordered these as a Christmas present for my kids. They took the money straight away out of my account and when I ordered there was nothing to say that these items were not in stock
After I had paid they then emailed to say items wern't in stock - I have emailed them numerous times with no answer
I have since found out that there has been a fire so God knows what's happening now. Why not say if you don't have items in stock and give customer a choice!

gutted, looks like we've been ripped off but it does state on their website that they've recently had a fire and will be sending out orders as from tomorrow. If all else fails something similar happend to me with Tiny when they went bust, i purchased a tv on line cost a grand and when they went bust my debit card company refunded me the whole grand lets hope they'll do the same again if i've been ripped off.

TOP SERVICE!! i brought 3 IBM laptops for my 3 boys for Christmas and i was worried that buying on line the goods would not arrive before christmas, Portable Universe sent out my goods after 6 days from ordering and i had it on a 7 working day deliver period. I was over the moon, My wife and i got ready to set up the boys laptps ready for them for christmas day well to my surprise there was no need to, it was all ready to go for us. Great product very happy, ontime delivery all went without a hitch. I check my product on delivery and found it to be of superb quality for the price I checked online for the rrp of the product I purchsed and found I had saved a full £60 and it came in new condition can fully recommend!!!

Fantastic machine purchased for the small price of 120 brilliant condition looks like new. Ideal for all the uses that I have like social networks blogging, Twitter etc why spend a packet when you get the required spec for well under 200 pound. As for delivery and service I found this to be usual on time didnt need to chase would recommend to anyone who wants a cheap laptop and arent expecting the world for a small price.

I was told it would be delivered 4 days later... got a call a week later to say my product wasn't in stock and they were ordering in some "better" ones. Another week later I got a totally different laptop from what I ordered, which turned out to be at least 10 years old (or a 'million years old' as the Toshiba Customer Services told me), not wireless ready as what I originally ordered, and unable to even display a page (not just internet) in less than 10 minutes. I agree with the last review.I got my product 1 day late but fair play I didn't actualy pay for the shipping I went for for shipping 7 day option wether it was late depends on if its 7 working days or not but the product was great actualy superb for a refurb it came in a factory sealed box and was with 1gb of extra ram than I ordered GREAT.

I don't think they are crooks, my order went through quickly and I did get what I asked for, but their customer service is pants. My invoice said 'delivery within 7 days' so when I called after 10 days they told me it was out of stock and it would be another 10 days. This was true and my goods were delivered fine but it shouldn't be up to the customer to chase their order.
They are very good value for the product so if you can put up with naff service it's worth the money.

I purchased a cheap IBM computer for secondary home use.Delivery was 3 days early saving me the 9.50 for shipping since then I have rang a couple of times and found the support excellent. Would recommend without hesitation.

Do not take risks with these guys like I did!!!
I ordered a refurbished laptop at a great price from portableuniverse.co.uk and then the agony started. 3 days after that when I was already expecting a delivery some rude person from this company called me to say they did not have it in stock and I had to accept a replacement.
There was no replacement with a similar spec so and he promised to look for another and call me. No call for 2 days and I chased them, again got promise someone would call ...

Seems that they are quick to act to get your money. They however do not like to return it when you send the item back as it was not what you origonally ordered. The item cost £21.00 to return by Post Office Special recorded delivery, it clearly shows acceptance by Portable Universe at their end. I have phoned and been put on hold then cut off sent numerous e-mails, with only one response. I am now putting all information through to the Trading Standards Authority as my patience has run out ...
